Food was fun and yummy
Noise level deafening. Oh oh. Can’t even have a normal level conversation
Food quality was good. The service, especially for a Thomas Keller run restaurant, was poor. Overall disappointed for a second visit. I probably will not return. Too many other good choices in Yountville.
Poor service. Two appetizer orders were forgotten. Server seemed to have disappeared for most of our lunch. None of us want to return.
Food was disappointing, tried 3 different kinds of tacos and they were all only so-so. The on-the-cob elote was really good and the chips and guac were super yummy. I came with 3 friends and we all came to the consensus that we probably wouldn't return.
AMAZING!!! A must is the chicken tamale!!! Take it from a Texan!!!
Perhaps our expectations were too high knowing this is a Thomas Keller restaurant... the food was very good, the service was just good and the drinks - with the exception of the excellent margaritas - were terrible.
Had a lovely lunch. Delicious food. Service was super. Really enjoyed the mole enchiladas. All of the food was delicious. I ordered the Señor Paloma cocktail, and it needs some work... all you could taste was the mezcal, no ginger or grapefruit. Need to scale it back a bit and sub in some tequila. The regular margarita was very nice.
Just a great overall experience. Even at lunch, inside was loud, but the outdoor patio was a quiet oasis which I highly recommend. Service was second to none, meals were full of flavor. It’s Napa so more expensive than you expect, in absolute terms perhaps not worth it, but with service this good I can look past it.
guacamole and chips were fantastic. Carnitas tacos were also great. I’ll go back.
Third visit! The mole was great but the chicken was barely done and the skin was not done. The pork was interesting but a bit too salty. The chips were yummy and corny! The service was EXCELLENT. What a great staff! Looking forward to a few improvements and many more great meals!
Good atmosphere in bar area. Friendly staff and service. Food was too spicy for myself and wife and not as good as our last visit
This place was such a surprise - in the best way possible!! The bartender was so knowledgeable & friendly, the server was great, the place was cozy & comfortable- and NOT pretentious at all. We had many small plates, and one was better than the next!! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Food was lacking flavor. Tacos were lacking seemed to be simply warmed in the microwave. The tamale was good but needed flavor. The chips were very good.
Delicious food, friendly service, and inviting venue. Especially like the watermelon salad and the corn on the cob; both are seasoned perfectly. The margaritas are yummy, too.
Fabulous experience. We loved the Ls Calenda margaritas. Please do yourself a favor and order the elote- which is the Mexican Street corn.
Will surely go back.
I was expecting a lot from this restaurant given that it is part of the Thomas Keller group. I don't believe that Thomas Keller himself has tasted or approved the food or drink that we had. The white Sangria at $44.00 for the pitcher was tasteless at first because it was not stirred and then disappointingly bitter (grapefruit and pineapple). The mole was tasteless as was the fried fish in the fish tacos, and the vegan enchiladas were terrible. The only redeeming item on the menu was the quesadilla "al pastor" made with perfectly crispy rotisserie pork. The desserts we chose (tres leches cake and churros) were average. I would not recommend this restaurant and would not go back.
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area, possibly the bay area. Really enjoyed everything we had. The Elote and the vegetarian tamale were amazing.
The food is excellent. The aguachiles in other places I never liked, but at this restaurant they are delicious. The pork with green salsa is amazing.
If you can't get into any other restaurant in Yountville, then come here but expect to pay separately for everything because you are in Yountville after all!
Need more vegetarian options but otherwise great food
Lunch was a marked improvement from a dinner not long after they opened. Teething problems seem remedied good experience and my main complaint of noise was resolved. (although a Friday or Saturday at the bar might prove loud). Food quality very good and well presented with good portions. Will be back to try dinner time experience soon.
We wanted to share a lunch with a co-worker and friend after 35 years with our company. Service and food was great - the price was a bit
We enjoyed our gathering.
Great flavors, reasonable prices. Enjoyed the queso fundido, tuna, fish tostada, and the margaritas!
Some of the most unique tastes I have encountered and I am looking forward to returning to try more of menu offerings.
Food was incredible, service was fantastic as we had a V. Large group and 5 children under 8. Tacos al pastor are amazing and the queso blanco was fuego🔥
Fabulous food and drinks and lovely service! Wonderful.
Invited out of town friends to dinner and enjoyed the quality of the food but extremely disappointed in having to wait 40 minutes for our table. This is why I made reservations on open table so we wouldn’t have to wait that long. Be mindful if timing is an issue for you before heading here.
Fantastic food, but still working through some kinks with service.
First time in. Very little explanation from wait staff. Ordered queso fundido which came with 3 tortillas. Way more cheese than tortilla. A suggestion of chips to go with queso would have been welcomed. Tacos were expensive and were not as good as Copita in Sausalito. Drinks arrived after apps, 2nd course overlapped with apps. Dessert order taken over 45 minutes after mains were cleared.
Chairs inside were hard after the first hour. Noise level was beyond energetic - painful. Loud canned music, drinking patrons, hard surfaces and close quarters guarantee ear splitting experience. Bar was even louder. After experiencing inside, outside tables appear to be a much better choice.
Pork jowls were the best entree. Flavorful, extremely tender, nice mole. I'd go back for them on the patio with a tequilla shot and beer.
The food was fantastic, interesting and enjoyed the different flavors. The street corn was fantastic. The only issue was the noise level. We had a difficult time having any conversation. I think next time, we will try outdoors to see if it is any better.
Such tasty food! Great stone ground tortillas and excellent charred whole fish and aguachile. The mole has such depth of flavor it reminds me of Pujol in Mexico City! A fun hangout for families and groups.
Love the food and the atmosphere! Our service was a little slow, but you guys were packed so it was totally understandable. Thank you for such a wonderful evening and experience!
Curious about Thomas Keller’s latest restaurant, especially a Oaxacan one. The price was right; the food really excellent. We were not disappointed.
Great flavors. Outstanding selection of food. Very fresh
Food was good but everything else was disappointing. First, we had reservations and they seated two of us at a very small table. When we received our food, the table was not large enough to hold two entrees, a side dish and two cocktails. That is how small the table was. Waiter must have had an off night (not busy at all) as entrees came at different times, my wife's side came out after her entree and he just generally didn't check in.
Everything was fine.
One of the waitresses had major attitude! We asked her if we could have another table and she just left the menus on a table and walked away. Not sure if she was still in training big mode or that’s how she is.
Extremely disappointing - was expecting much more since it was billed as a Thomas Keller restaurant - service was not good at all - food uninspired - no ambiance - maybe we were expecting too much? However there are so many other places nearby that are so much better - we were only in yountville for two days so only a limited number of meals we could enjoy - and unfortunately we missed out by eating here - such a shame for all involved
La Calenda was recommended on our visit to Yountville. We made a reservation. We were seated promptly however we were never acknowledged or greeted by our server. The manager finally came over and took our drink order and we ordered chips and salsa. The chips and salsa came along with guacamole (which we didn't order). We ate the guacamole so we didn't say anything. The food/drinks were good but a bit pricey for what we got!
Certainly wasn't a "10" but it was fine!
Very disappointed. Guacamole and chips awful. Chips too heavily cooked and greasy, no flavor. Guacamole not very flavorful either. Queso fundido horrible -- cheese was pasty and tasted like American cheese or velveeta. Tortillas pretty but not very good either. Mushroom tacos, however, were delicious. Pork taco well flavored -- most of pork good, a few pieces very dry and stringy. Sauces needed more variety in flavors. Flan beautifully cooked, smooth and delicious; however, traditional burnt sugar sauce, was too light and watery -- just tasted like sugar water. Margarita good, but asked for salted rim and only got salt on about a third of it.
