First time visit to La Caille. Very interesting place unfortunately couldn’t fully appreciate it in the dark. My wife and I were excited to make reservations for Valentine’s Day. I even checked out the normal menu before going. When we arrived I found that you couldn’t order off the original menu. The only menu available was a four course special Valentines menu. Instead of food I was interested at around $55 a plate. I was forced to order the special at $110 a plate. So I felt a little trapped and I guess some say I should have known, but I didn’t. The food on the special was not dishes I would have picked. I had a consommé that was so light that it was like pleasant water. Next up was the foie grase slider. So this sandwich was a slider bun with two minuscule drops of some spice and a thick pate of foie grase. Well maybe my tastes are not refined enough but it tasted like a block of butter between a bun. So after one bite I was a little green. The main course was a beef a fries which was delicious. Dessert also was wonderful. In the end the management kindly reduced my bill by 20%. I still much more than planned mostly on food I didn’t expect. Overall the experience left me and my wife underwhelmed even though we came in very excited. If you enjoy having people watch you spend a lot on food this seems to be a good place.
The food and service was absolutely amazing. Everything from the fresh tuna all the way down to the dry aged 45 day steak was beyond expectations. The chefs in the kitchen are extremely creative and know how to blend different flavors to do an amazing dish. This is an absolute must try!
Brought my daughter after a weekend of skiing as we were headed back to SLC airport.
Service was excellent...and very warm. Lovely place. Interesting and fun.
We ordered 5 items; salad, escargot, lobster /pasta, Filet Mignon and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, all 5 items came out cold.
We sent back the escargot.
We sent back the lobster and the Filet.
At $58 a plate...it diminished the need to return.

Our waiter failed to add the pink liquid to our “cookie”, but other tables had it. We were not offered any after brunch coffee. I guess there are no desserts. The food is skimpy for the high-priced charge, and is comparable to Market Street’s brunch. However, they charge $8 for the same dish. You are really buying the ambiance of La Caille, and that can’t be beat, nor can the delicious croissants.
We used to go here 1-2 times a year when we flew in from california to ski in the 1990s
Our sons joined us as they matured and we loved the midevial ambiance and costumes.
They food was excellent and the staff was extraordinary.
We always walked the magical grounds after dinner to see the swans and the “elves cabin”. Reservations were hard to get -way in advance ! We couldn’t wait to see it again.
All changed now, +duck was tough!
No costumes, expensive, blah! The staff was nice enough but our memories were better.
No wonder the place was empty ....miss the old staff

Our final Fine-Dining evening was enjoyed at Lilian’s FAVORITE restaurant, La Caille, a lovely country French unique dining setting, seated on acreage at the base of Little Cottonwood canyon below Snowbird/Alta, complete with peacocks strolling the property (and wintering by the fireplace chimneys on the roof), swans and ducks 🦆 paddling in the ponds, as well as an expanding vineyard producing local wines. Now recovered from a tumultuous and tragic past under a new owner, each year presents fresh venues and upgrades! The menu remains French at the core, including escargot 🐌 (we passed), with delicious and elegant offerings! Shawn W. brought a multifaceted L’Ecole No. 41 Perigee Seven Hills 2013 🍷from Walla Walla Valley, that complemented the meal perfectly! We enjoyed excellent service from our waiter, also named Shawn, and a visit and wine 🍷 discussion by the manager Layne Dansie, who we met last year. A wonderful evening, to be repeated next year!
Our first experience at La Caille was beyond our imagination and the reputation that echoes through the Salt Lake Valley. Our enthusiasm was difficult to contain as we received a gift card for the holidays. The grounds are impeccably prestine with flirting wildlife and fantastic geography. We felt like royalty from the moment we were escorted to our table. Meg shines with the experience and hospitality that makes everyone feel welcomed. Our culinary caberet was delightfully shocking to our senses and reminiscent of the French culture. The entire staff took time to stop and say hello as well as offer to take pictures. Word on the street is La Caille is expensive but worth it and we don't feel like that gives it enough justice. Our memorable evening will be held in the highest of regard for centuries to come and we plan on celebrating many more occasions at this rare gem of Salt Lake City.
No valet when we arrived. Found a place to park and walked up. Food was very good, but we have had better at a lower price. No one’s fault, but the table next to us had an older outspoken lady with a very loud voice. Took away from the romantic setting and evening.
Simply a 5-star experience every time we've dined at La Caille. Staff all go above and beyond to be friendly and attentive. The setting is very romantic and interesting. They take classic dishes and puts on unique twists. One of my favorite spots hands down.
The restaurant was beautiful and has an enchanted energy. The staff took excellent care of us and made the evening special. All of the food from the amuse bouche through the last bite of dessert was scrumptious and to be savored. My parents had been here years ago and insisted that my boyfriend and I go. I couldn't be happier that they did!
I expected more from the food. Have heard a lot about La Caille, but had never tried it before. We recently moved to Utah and thought it was time to check it out. The menu desperately needs to be updated and the quality of the ingredients and presentation did not justify the price. The service and ambience were fantastic.
Lovely ambience, excellent wines and the chef did an excellent job; however the lobster and noodles were a bit average. Wait staff was very courteous, but there was a bit of confusion and a delay with our and another party's reservations. Overall a very nice dining experience and I would revisit for sure.
You pay for the look at La Caille. Wonderfully lit-up driveway and establishment at Christmas; warm and fancy atmosphere; quaint separate rooms. A strange smell permeated the restaurant and our clothing later; maybe an attempt to cover mildew odor from the stone building by some scent used too heavily. We adjusted to it and were delighted by an entire staff who was quick, friendly and courteous from valet to coat check, to drinks and dinner service. The starched white over brocade tablecloths are set with plain plates which didn't compete with the rooms' heavy decoration. We sat next to a lovely lit fireplace embraced with holiday ambiance. For the fixed price of $89 per person, however, the meal was rather disappointing overall. The presentation was elegant, but flavor was sadly lacking. First served was a tiny cheese board with fig jam, followed by a choice of salad or dull squash soup sprinkled with diced apples. The entree's quality of beef for the steak and prime rib was adequate, but accompanied by colorful yet bland vegetables. The igloo dessert was equally adorable looking but had an odd flavor which put us both off. All in all, a visual delight but "thumbs-down" for an expensive meal.
I have been Dinning at La Caille for over 18 years with my family and friends over the Christmas Holiday. Usually on Christmas Eve or a couple days before. This year has been the worst ever. They sat our group of 10 in their garden patio area. It was cold & smelly. The service was horrible. We had to ask for our empty plates to be removed continuously. We had to remind our servers to bring out our drinks. The soup was cold and part of the meat on one of the appetizer tray was bad. For the price they charge I felt this time it was definitely not worth it. Not sure we will continue our tradition at La Caille over the Christmas Holiday.
It definitely is not the place it used to be...
We wanted to go to La Caille at Christmas time to see the lights and decorations and to enjoy a meal to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed our evening very much. The ambiance was beautiful! The food was very good. The service was great. Malan was our server and he was very pleasant! The cost is high and it is good to plan an evening that you are not is a hurry! Great evening for my husband and myself!
La Caille is such a magical place! It is gorgous and the service is so good. Steven was so wonderful and made sure my son and I had a great time. The food was over the top amazing. My seven year old could not stop talking about how delicious it was was. We went for the Breakfast with Santa and it is always a great event. It is so wonderful in every way.
This was a once in a lifetime experience for me. So much more money than I could afford on a regular basis, but you only get engaged once. This was a beautiful place. The food was good but you're not paying for the food here. The dishes are fancy and well presented. The atmosphere is amazing. The servers are great.
