   When a French cafe puta a croque madame on the menu and you order it, you expect a traditional dish. What was received was a egg, ham and cheese sandwich placed between two pieces of French toast. No mornay sauce, not even bechamel, just a dry sandwich with cheese that was unmelted and a hard fried egg. Overall terrible experience. Waiter did not ask for a refill on our water or iced tea. At first brought over the someone else’s order to our table. Will not be returning.

   I had high hopes for this little cafe. Sadly, I was disappointed. The food was unimpressive. The waffle was super dry. The omelette was wet and watery. There just isn’t anything great or memorable about this place. The ambiance is nice. Food was basic.

   Only place in Hoboken that I found a meal crepe on the menu. Other places had dessert crepes, but I wanted a main course of a crepe. Waiter was fun to joke with! Beautiful day to eat outdoors! Really enjoyed eating with the family at La Bouche!!!

   The Norwegian Omelet was excellent, the poached eggs were done to perfection on this dish. They were silky smooth and so very delicate --sheer perfection when combined with a light not overpowering hollandaise sauce. I highly recommend this dish.....one of our companions had the crepes and that looked delicious as well.

    They hit us with a $2 per person charge for using Open Table!?1? We noticed after leaving, it cost our party of 6 $12 to sit at the restaurant. Even worse, they charged us tax on the $12! We checked the website and it said nothing about this excessive fee, and nothing was on the menu or mentioned at the restaurant. Beyond that, the service was not good - very slow, inattentive (didn't refill waters), and not well trained. Its a small restaurant and yet the staff wasn't well trained. It also took an excessive time, almost 30 minutes, to bring out our food, during which time the table that arrived after us of 7 people arrived, ordered and were served. Finally, the food was ok. Avocado toast was good, but the waffle sandwich had only one small egg, not two, and one small piece of bacon. 6 adults left thinking that its not worth a revisit, and after looking at the bill and outrageous $2 fee for using Open Table we agree its a restaurant to avoid.

    Would not return. Met friends here for brunch and was very disappointed. First of all we were rushed from the minute we were seated. Secondly we were given a menu, made our choices and then were told they had none of the items on the right hand side of the menu which was literally 1/2 the menu! Ok, make different choices. The Brioche French toast arrived and looked good but my waffle sandwich looked terrible, was ice cold , egg was over cooked and entire dish had no flavor. I was embarrassed to have selected this place to brunch with out of town friends. I will never return

    The waiter was absolutely rude, kept cursing under his breath and making remarks like “why am I even here?” , our table was old and rusty and kept shaking when someone walked by. The food was properly prepared.

    I made a reservation for 5 originally, but had to change it to 3 last minute and they were very accommodating, especially with a busy Mother's Day schedule! Our food came out quickly and it was delicious. We had the nutella crepe and belgium waffle. Very cute decor, also.

    Seems like a simple idea you have eggs Benedict on your menu you know how to poach an egg. I got two hard boiled eggs (not soft not poached they were that cooked) on my Benedict and when I informed the waiter they seemed confused as to the concept of poached eggs. After 10 min they brought me two eggs one poached the other over done (gelled soft boil) and I asked for more sauce which they never brought Instead the waiter was eating his food while I waited for the sauce never coming over once to check on us. I ended up eating cold potatoes and cold eggs and to top it off they didn’t show me the check and over charged me.

    Bad tasteless food and horrible service. Made us move from a decent table after we sat due to another incoming group. The new table was crooked and so were the chairs. Not coming back here.

    Surprised by the hidden cover charge. The OpenTable profile is written to sound as though it only applies to large parties. It was not printed on the menu nor noted by the server when summarizing the bill before we paid. The food was fair. Neither order was correct when it first arrived to our table. We sent them back. On the second try, the food was cold and missing ingredients. We gave up sending it back a second time.

    BYOB. Delicious food. Could use a few more vegan options but the veggie sandwich was delicious! Super cute cafe. Not rushed and good ambiance. There was a $2/per person cover charge to cover the reservation (fee ?) - I have never seen this before.

    Felt uncomfortable there due to the host who was unwelcoming and rude to customers. They kicked people out of their table when there was another table open. They also pushed people away saying they didn’t have tables or said no to a table of one.

    We ordered Zucchini Pancake and Croissant French Toast and I must say both the items surpassed my expectations! Sitting on the table by the window, sipping on latte & cappuccino and savouring the dishes made my date a success. We were too full to order the dessert this time but I have my eye on the waffles, definitely coming back soon :)

    They need to rewrite their policy. The $2 fee for making a reservation is stated but it sounds like they only have the fee for a party of 6 or more. This is not the case. They are snarky and rude when bringing it up. Don’t believe they are snarky? Just look at all of the responses they make to their customers on opentable and other platforms. The responses speak for themselves. Who creates a fee for booking a reservation? As a small business owner myself I would never make money by such a practice. They’ve lost us as customers.

    Didn’t notice restaurant charges $2 per person for open table reservation (I called to make reservation for 3 people, they told me they don’t take reservation over the phone and told me to reserve online and open table was the only reservation system ). And they didn’t even provide check/bill before you pay, they only told me how much while holding their mobile device…and you had to ask for receipt after you pay, otherwise you couldn’t even get receipt. I didn’t even know about the cover charge until I already paid. I felt stupid that I gave them high tip on top of additional charges they’ve already charged. The restaurant clearly knew what they did was not honest, that’s why they didn’t provide bill for you to check before you pay. I’ll not go back to this dishonest restaurant again…

Every customer is provided with a receipt which can be sent to their email adresses and/or to their phone numbers. So we do not accept this criticism. By the way please refrain using "Dishonest" because we have been doing this business in Hoboken for the last 10 (ten) years. Sorry about it!

    Highly recommend the croissant French toast. It was light, fluffy, and buttery, and could eat it over and over again. Dog friendly outdoor seating made it a lovely brunch experience!
