   We had a very nice Mother’s Day meal here with kids. The service was good. The bread served hot was delicious and meals and dessert were enjoyed. The filet was over cooked, so maybe order less than what you want. The sauce and sides were great. The escargot were gone quickly. And served in mushroom caps, that was new to us. Will go back again. Would recommend to a friend. Ambiance was very nice.

   My review is based on the Mother's Day dinner at La Bonne Vie and in a word or two, it was spectacular! We started out with French 75 cocktails (gin, simple syrup, lemon juice, and champagne) and they were chilled perfectly. We moved on to a LBV Old Fashioned that was made to absolutel perfection. For dinner, we selected a Pinot Noir, Josephine Dubois (Burgogne, 2022) and the smoothness was incredible. For the appetizer, we ordered the Escargots De Burgogne and the garlic-parsley butter really made the dish. We requested another roll in order to enjoy the liquified butter after we finished the escargot and mushroom caps. Our dinner order consisted of the Beef Stroganoff and the Grilled Pork Chop. Both were beyond incredible and we ended up taking some home. The bottom line with La Bonne Vie is you are experiencing dinner and enjoying it. If you want to eat and move along, then go to a chain restaurant. Now some might write that the service may seem a little slow and that's nonsense. As I said previously, you are there to enjoy a meal and beverages. Dinner at La Bonne Vie is not a timed event; it is an experience where you can converse with your dinner companion about the meal and other things and just relax. We go to La Bonne Vie even when it's not a special event. We go to get away and just enjoy a quiet meal. Eating at La Bonne Vie is like eating at your best friend's home and that's why we love it so much! Looking forward to the next "excuse" to visit with our best restaurant friends!

   This quaint and elegant French Bistro, it's the perfect place to have lunch or dinner with an attentive service, good food and a nice list of wines and cocktails. Great place for a friend reunion over a nice lunch/dinner.

   This was our first dinner at La Bonne Vie, and it was just delightful. The service was impeccable, and the food very good. Between the decor and the music, I felt transported to France! Highly recommend this hidden gem.

   Very nice service and tempting menu for sure. Lamb chops were tender and flavorful. One of the few places you can find nicely prepared steak tartare.

    First time here and Everything was perfect from the moment we walked into the door. The service was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious! Thank you for a wonderful Easter brunch experience! We will be back!!

    Great evening at La Bonne Vie. Really enjoyable meal. The French onion soup was wonderful -- very fresh ingredients. The cocktails were well mixed. The main courses (scallops for one of us, coq au riesling pie for the other) were excellent. We split a chocolate mousse for dessert - and both agreed that it was the best that either of us had ever had! Fantastic experience. The restaurant was quiet enough to have a good conversation and not have to raise our voices. We'll definitely make a return trip.

    La Bonne Vie is a hidden gem. My wife and I arrived 10 minutes early. The food was tasty and the ambiance was chic. We were celebrating our 39 anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate. Definitely will go there again.

    What a gem! This restaurant is beautifully, romantically decorated and truly transports you to Paris! The menu is completely made in-house from scratch and includes lots of classic French dishes. The service could not have been more personal and kind. Will definitely be back to sample additional menu items!

    We enjoyed trying a few of the specialty cocktails or wine before dinner with some fresh, warm rolls and butter. Everyone enjoyed the entrees as well. They were prepared as ordered. The service was provided by the owners Ali and Homerya. They have always been very personable and welcoming in all the years we have come to their restaurant.

    A local gem. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Had the beef tenderloin with pepper corn sauce. Paired wonderfully with Josephine Dubois, Bourgogne, 2022. For being a French restaurant, wish they had a white burgundy by the glass choice.

    This was my and my spouse's first visit to La Bonne Vie. The entire evening was lovely--the owners were solicitous, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was excellent. We will be returning in the future!

    Our first experience at the restaurant to celebrate a milestone birthday. We were greeted warmly upon entering and that level of attention continued throughout the evening. Highly recommend.

    After a long day at work, this was a well-deserved retreat from the hectic stresses of the day. It was also a birthday dinner for a couple of people in here. A good place for special occasions.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this cozy little French restaurant for our Anniversary . Good food, wine and attentive service with romantic French music playing in the background. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

    The restaurant is trying hard, but they were very understaffed for valentines day (3 people being waiters, bar back, and host for the entire restaurant). When we arrived for our reservation time we stood for 10 minutes awkwardly at the host stand while staff avoided eye contact with us and then once they acknowledged us just pointed in the general direction of the restaurant to pick our own table. It took an additional 20 minutes for anyone to come to the table with water, and then 15 more minutes to take the order. There was a table of 4 older men who obviously knew the owner and had constant service, getting apps, entree, and dessert in the time it took us to get apps. The pre fix menu was varied, but it was clear the food had been under warmers for a long time. The flavor itself wasn't great, very salty. Overall a downgrade from the former Russia House experience.

    The Russia House owners are running La Bonne Vie. All of the things you loved about Russia House remains with La Bonne Vie. The food, atmosphere and service are all there. If you haven't been, come back!

    The food itself was generally great but there is not enough staff to handle days like Valentine’s Day. If you do go on a special day expect extremely long waits and a prix fixe menu that you hadn’t seen before. I’d definitely recommend going but on a regular day instead of a special occasion.

    From the very start you feel as if you’ve been transported to an 18th century French parlor with an ambiance that resonates the ideal of intimacy. The drinks are phenomenal and the starting dishes were great as well. Honestly, the escargot was probably the best I’ve had as the addition of the mushroom elevates an earthiness. The Black Caviar was delicious as well but what really stood out was the meat pie I ordered. The savory dish was everything you wanted on a cold night. The end of the meal rounded out things nicely with a lemon tart, crème brûlée and a glass of port. Overall I’d say a great place for a night out and any special occasion.

    We had an amazing dinner at La Bonne Vie, celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday. The ambience was very nice, the food was SPECTACULAR, and the service incredible. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and so delicious. The owners are the nicest people and we truly enjoyed our dinner! If you’re staying in this area of Washington DC, this restaurant is worth visiting!

    My wife & I tried this restaurant on Christmas Eve and had a very nice experience. We enjoyed the relaxing ambience and liked the selections on the prix fixe menu. The food was flavorful and the portions were a good size. I had the seafood napoleon and steak au poivre; my wife had the pate and the lamb chops. We also were impressed with the wine list and enjoyed our selections a great deal. For dessert, we had the pistachio cheesecake and a napoleon. The one caveat was that there were only 3 people serving everyone - the owner, his co-owner wife, and one other. We both thought the small amount of servers was very odd for Christmas Eve - and it resulted in people waiting for tables even though they had made reservations, because only the owner was checking reservations and seating people, when he was not serving tables himself. (To be fair, no one seemed perturbed and looked as if they were enjoying themselves.) I would definitely give this place another try on a non-holiday date. It has the potential to be a nice neighborhood gem.

    La Bonne Vie provided an absolutely superb Christmas Eve dinner program that took away all of the stress of the holiday season. The prix fixe menu was very thorough and provided many fine options for all tastes. The wine and cocktail lists were excellent. Having a special Christmas Eve dinner was a stroke of genius and the owners of La Bonne Vie are to be commended for thinking about the adults during Christmas time. One of the many fine parts of the dinner experience was the "quiet" in the restaurant. The joy of having a sumptuous meal with your loved one in a place with the proper ambiance cannot be overstated. We cannot wait for our next dinner at La Bonne Vie!
