What a gem! Definitely start with some French wine & the small cheese board for a starter/app - which isn’t small, by the way. Then anything on the menu is great. We had the steak frites and duck l’orange - both excellent! We love the ambiance here. It’s our new favorite place.

Disappointing. Poached eggs were undercooked, hollandaise sauce was cool & tasteless. Our drinks were pretty & very good. We felt rushed by our waiter. Hopefully this was a one-off mess up.

We were the second couple in for brunch on a Saturday morning. Wise choice! The service and food were great- and the ambience quiet. I had the Eggs Benedict with ham and espelette potatoes; my partner enjoyed a Croque Monsieur. As we were leaving, the Saturday brunchers arrived~ our timing was perfect.

Best meal in Charleston. So well prepared and presented and absolutely delicious! I had the Le Lavandou drink and it was perfect. The trout was so tender and yummy. The black forest cake dessert with chantilly and kirsch cherries is not to be missed! Nolan was our waiter and he was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great recommendations. You will be so glad you went to this wonderful restaurant!

We were a group of 6 and most of the food was excellent however, the duck breast which two people had was very tough -- difficult to cut and difficult to chew. Everything else was delicious.

Liam, our server was great. He was very attention despite also having a very large party at a nearby table. He was aware of my food allergies when we arrived and was excellent about knowing what was safe for me. The food was 10/10! We started with the octopus appetizer, and the potatoes that came with it were perfect! Our entrées were the duck and the scallops. Again, both cooked to perfection! We finished it off with the chocolate tart - so delicious We will definitely be back again!

I had given this restaurant a great review to, but I happened to look at the bill again today. We ordered martinis, which are made with vodka or gin with a slight amount of vermouth. We order very dry We we’re charged an extra $5.50 per drink for the vermouth making a martini $17.00. (Many bars charge now, but usually $2-3.) Still not right. The other issue was Scotch. They charged $6.00 for ice saying that, on the rocks is ALWAYS more as they add more Scotch. WHAT??? I was then rudely told that I obviously did not know about drinks and, if I did not like it, go somewhere else. I must admit, I was rather terse when I first called, but called back to apologize. At that point the bartender took the call-Jake- who gave me the “lesson” in drinking norms. We have traveled the world and have been at many bars/restaurants in Charleston. We did not just roll off the potato truck so to speak. I will not go back, which is a shame, as the food was very good as was the service. If you are not a drinker, this is a great spot to dine. But management needs to adjust some prices and attitudes. Luana Denotto

La Bonne Franquette obviously has a loyal following, so we chose it for a romantic evening. We were surprised at the high energy of the dining room, but quickly settled in, realizing our mistake. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and we never went long without food or drink. The timing between ordering and serving was impeccable. At every table flaky pastry breadsticks are served, and we ate every single one. There are no chef specials, and based on the amount of guests, the chef has his hands full with the tight menu. The presentation of the food is beautiful. Sadly the octopus was overcooked for my taste, and the steak was rubbery. The vegetables and salad were delicious. In true bistro form, there is a hamburger on the menu. There is a wonderful dessert case, but we passed. We noticed macaroons and cakes.

We had to wait a bit for our table (no fault of the restaurant) but it was well worth it. Nolan was our server and he was great. Helped us pick a wine and was very attentive. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Will definitely be back.

We love this restaurant. The bread, gazpacho, shrimp (small plate), chicken, scallops, and duck were all delicious, as were the wine selections (a cab franc and a Bordeaux) and the chocolate dessert was sinfully good. The service was excellent, as always. The only down side is the noise level, which is high when the restaurant is full, mostly due to the ceramic tile floor, a classic bistro feature. Some acoustic panels would help. Otherwise, no complaints!

This just might be Charleston's most hidden gem. Downtown quality food, incredible staff. Every single thing I tried was absolutely delicious, from the local oysters and tuna tartar to the enormous salad and duck magret. So so good.

This is a surprising find on St. Andrews. Has the authentic feel of a neighborhood French bistro. The prices (by Charleston standards) are very reasonable. Good (but not extensive) selection of menu items. Preparations are traditional French. Worth a try.

Great food and service. There were 4 of us and it was our first time. Definitely will go again. Need some noise defining panels. It got louder as the night went on. We ate at 5:30 before a show, so when we left it was more crowded. And therefore noisier.

Kate was knowledgeable, super friendly, and attentive. Octopus appetizer was excellent. My wife’s Hangar steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. The duck was cooked to the right level but definitely needed some type of sauce or more seasoning. Drinks were amazing. Wine list wasn’t huge but nice selection of Bordeaux’s. Great experience overall.

We dined for brunch at Le Bonne Franquette for our first visit to the restaurant. We sat outside and we were very comfortable, and the patio was very clean and nicely made up. The service was prompt and our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food did not disappoint. Everyone at our table was extremely satisfied and enjoyed every dish. The drinks were also great and the bartender even came out towards the end of our meal to make sure we enjoyed the new drinks on the menu. We will definitely be going back to this restaurant soon to try out the dinner service and definitely recommend that everyone try out their brunch ASAP.
