The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server was fantastic (thanks, Jesus)! The food was delicious. The best Burrata I've tasted anywhere in Westchester. No wine list but the house cab was good. The portions were generous. My bone in ribeye was thicker, more tender and tastier than what I've had at Ruth's Chris. My wife loved her chicken scarp (spicy). The owner, Tony, came over to our table to see if we were happy. The Italian cheesecake was good. Very good value. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. We'll be back. -Stan
Really good food, efficient and friendly service. There are two rooms, one with an active bar scene and one that may usually be quieter than it was on the night we visited, when there was a large family birthday party going on. Nice family, happy occasion, but not the place to seat us when we’d explained to the maitre d’ that our 91 year old dad needed a quiet spot so he could hear. It wasn’t clear when we sat down that everyone else in the room was one big group seated at lots of tabled for a party just getting started. It would have been kinder if the situation was explained; we would have happily come back another night. So Poppy heard not a word all dinner long. Oh well.
Everything about the restaurant was ordinary. There was nothing outstanding. Food was pleasant although the "risotto" served with the shrimp tasted like Carolina rice with a little parmesan and lemon. Squash blossoms were slightly greasy--but tasty. I wouldn't rush back.
Seated immediately. Pomegranate martini - so so (you can tell they don't make them often). Only house wine is by the glass, but decent cabernet. Cold antipasto - your average fare. The special (braised short ribs with gnocchi) was delicious!. Bread could have been a little fresher. Warm apple tart with ice cream was buttery, delicious and decadent. Tartufo was your average tartufo. The bathroom though spacious really needed to be kept up. It wasn't dirty per se, but when I used it (about an hour into our meal), there was toilet paper strewn all over the place and the new roll was sitting on top of the empty roll. For a decent restaurant, it shouldn't be like that. My biggest problem was the acoustics. It was very noisy, but it was also a Saturday night. I will go again as I have gone many times before.
Went on a Friday for date night. The ambiance can be described as similar to a dimly lit pizzeria with a bar, except they don’t serve pizza. I wouldn’t describe the restaurant as dirty, but it does not exude a very clean feeling.
The prices on the menus reflect fine Italian dining, but the menus are single sided laminated plastic sheets that scream Olive Garden. I ordered a glass of Cab, which was passable; my SO ordered a glass of Riesling which was undrinkable. Calamari appetizer was fine, main courses were ok. I will note there were many specials, all of which sounded great. I ordered a special, my SO ordered off the menu. All in all over $100 for a subpar dinner for 2.
Final note- we were seated in the back next to a curtain… behind the curtain is the restrooms. Maybe don’t have a table within 5 feet of the bathroom doors. Curtain or not. If you can hear flushing from your table, its too close. There appears to be a dining room, but we were not seated there, so I cannot speak to that part of the restaurant.
Have been twice to this restaurant now. First time was during a business lunch and they were not crowded and we had a great experience. The food is as good as it gets for Italian...feels as if nona is in the back cooking. This weekend I decided to go back for a friends gathering. We made a pretty late reservation and when we walked in, the place was packed -- a few large parties were taking place but we sat promptly. Our waiter was serving the large party behind us and even though we were 6, he paid little to no attention. We had to call him to take our appetizer order. We shared a cold antipasti for 6...which was delicious but way too much food -- it would have been plenty to order for 4. For the main course, everyone ordered from chicken scarparrielo to veal and pasta. Everyone loved the food and the portions were very generous. Again, back to the service, no one came to refill water glasses or ask if you wanted more drinks. At the end, we kept asking for the check and finally after 30 minutes got pretty nasty with our waiter to get it. I love the food but the service was so bad that I would go elsewhere next time!
The pasta dishes here are always very good. Lobster ravioli is delicious. Ceasar salad is enough for two, needed more dressing. Neither of us really liked the plate of onions they serve with the bread before the meal. The chocolate cake dessert was very good and enough for two.
Not sure what happened to this restaurant. Been there four times and enjoyed it each time. this time, not so much. The food has gone down hill in a big way and there were gnats/fruitflies that wouldn't leave us alone from start to finish. Either the chef has changed or management is falling down on the job. Will have to find a new place to visit while in White Plains.
LaBocca is fabulous! From the moment you walk in, you are treated like family. Tony, the owner, makes you feel special immediately! He tells you all the specials and makes recommendations based on what you're in the mood for. We have been there several times and everything we've had has been delicious! We love it!
I won't be returning and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Our waiter was friendly until I mentioned the $20 opentable gift card I was planning to use. Once he saw it he became very standoffish and outright rude honestly. It dampened the mood of our dinner date and was embarrassing. He subsequently refused the coupon. It was a poor experience overall, the food itself was ok but I'd suggest finding a restaurant with better service.
Been here several times and always enjoy our meal. I ordered pork chops and they could have been seasoned a bit more but still tasty. Other meals were linguini w/red clam sauce, a vegan entree (which they were more than happy to oblige) and veal w/a side of garlic & oil linguine. Too full for dessert but the coffee/cappuccino was good. Love the ambiance.
We've been to La Bocca five or six times, and on Mother's Day it was outstanding as per usual. Really appreciated the fact that a prefix holiday menu and the regular menu were both available. Terrific value on the prefix menu with great appetizer, pasta and entree selections, and healthy portions. My one, small critique would be that the wait staff tends to disappear after coffee/dessert is served, creating a long gap before we got the check. That's happened before. Small point, of course. Will definitely be back..It's one of our favorites for high-end Italian.
We absolutely adore dining in La Boca and this was a wonderful chance to share our fabulous find with friends. It was a hit for sure! The personal service and little extras are always appreciated. My mouth waters just thinking of the wonderfully prepared dishes. I had a delicious Aperil spritz--made just the way they make them in Italy! Alessandro sent over 4 glasses of Persecco with strawberry to start our meal and salads with cured meat! We shared three appetizers from the specials menu: stuffed zucchini blossoms, fresh buffalo burrata cheese salad and grilled octopus--all amazing. Then 3 of us had amazing pastas from the specials menu and one of our friends had fresh grilled Bronzino--he loved it. For desserts we had afigatos and and a ice cream thing as well as cappuccinos--yum! Oh and after dinner drinks were sent over complimentary--hooray!!! I love La Bocca.
Have been wanting to try. Apps were great. Cheese and Italian meats was wonderful. Great cold seafood salad. Swordfish was good not exceptional. Waiter was very nice. I thought it was a bit old feeling inside. Not quite as pretty as I expected. Bar was full with a fundraising event which seemed strange for a Thursday night. We had fun. Good night. Would go back.
The food was very good and fair portions. Pricing was a bit high but knowing the white plains area dining scene it is typical. Our service was ok as many of our finished dishes remained on the table afterwards and had to ASK for them to be removed. Come on!
One concern that I expressed to our waiter was the restaurant is Italian yet they were blasting Spanish music! I asked for him to lower it it was not done. Then I asked him again and he said there was nothing he could do. It really took the mood away. Play at least low level Italian music!
When you enter La Bocca you feel welcomed. The manager is charming and always provides us with a special treat. Tonight it was special cheeses with a jam on a cutting board. We sat at the bar and had a great conversation with the bartender who gave us excellent recommendations on what to choose from the wine list to the entrees. . The bread was served with a plate of tasty eggplant spread. We began our meal with a pear salad. My wife had a wide pasta with an incredible meat sauce and I had the perfectly cooked rack of lamb.
