CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF TAPAS!

Opened in 2006 by 8 time James Beard Award Nominee, Chef James Campbell Caruso.
La Boca has the feel of a lively European wine bar, featuring an extensive selection of carefully chosen Mediterranean and South American wines. Knowledgeable and animated staff graciously guide customers to the perfect wine to complement their meals. La Boca also prides itself on being an ambassador of Spanish sherry culture, transporting its guests to Cadiz in the crisp cool flavors of Fino, or the deep fig-essence of a Pedro Ximenez.

Full to capacity almost every night since its opening, La Boca has been a hit with both locals and the world travelers that visit Santa Fe. La Boca has earned numerous awards both local and national, including the Santa Fe Reporter’s “Restaurant of the Year,” and the International Wine and Food Society’s “Award of Excellence.”

The service and entertainment were great. The food was disappointing. It wasn’t Spanish at all. Salt was overused. No variety of flavors.

We ate here for our last night in SF, but were underwhelmed.

Food: No mention of any specials. We ordered 4 things. First a plate of olives and the mussels. These were both good. Ordered wine by the glass. For a wine bar, they should have more "by the glass" offerings. Next ordered kale salad and the flatiron steak. The salad was fine, not standout, but we really did not like the steak. Came in a very sweet sauce. We ordered it medium and it came closer to rare. Why ask if you can't deliver it as ordered?

Ambiance: not really. We were inside in the back, and it had sort of a office space feel (the restaurant is in a newer office building, the outside dining area in a corporate feeling courtyard). They were pretty slammed that night so it was very loud and the wait staff were kind when we saw them, but they were overextended and stressed running around.

Service: OK, they were nice enough but rushed and stressed.

We had high hopes, but, overall, for the price and reviews, I expected better. I've had lots of tapas all over the world, and this was just ok. We had better meals in SF. (Sorry.)

We had an amazing dinner at La Boca. The ambiance was great, there was live music the night we were there, the food was delicious and the staff was superb. From the hostess to the back waiter to our server Roberto and the GM everyone was attentive, professional and had excellent recommendations. The Malbec that Roberto and the bartender suggested to accompany the Pot de Creme was so delicious- the perfect end to a great night. We will be back for sure and will recommend it to friends.

The only thing was: We went to hear live music but weren’t well informed when making the reservation so ou table was inside music outside. Salad was the bomb and so were the chicarones

Gathered at La Boca for friends' get together. The restaurant is small. They were going to put as at a table where there would have been wait staff circulation behind each of us, so we asked for a table next to the wall. While they did accommodate us, they had to check their reservation list first, which left us standing in the isle.

We ordered a wine of the wine list. While they brought the wine, it was a different year. They were about to open it when we noted that and they they checked the wine list and then they went to see if they had the vintage that we requested. They didn't but offered a different year. They should have come to us to say that the wine on the list wasn't available, offer what was and see if that was acceptable or if we wished to order something else. While the food was interesting and pretty good, the portions were skimpy especially for the price. We ate tapas and some of them were mere tidbits, barely suitable for sharing. On a positive note the Gambas al Ajillo was prepared just right - easy to over cook shrimp and pots de creme was fabulous.

It has been awhile since I have eaten here, not sure it is high on my list for a return engagement.

Jesus is a must see. Loved the music and his interaction with the crowd. He knows what and when to play. Amazing experience and the crowd was wonderful. Food really good. Will come back next time we are in town!

When we used OpenTable to make our reservation, we were unaware that it guarantees the WORST table, in the less desirable lower level space. The hostess admitted that reservations made at La Boca through OpenTable are given bad tables because this restaurant hates OpenTable. So if you want a good table, do not use OpenTable at La Boca—call directly.

Had been wanting to try La Boca and made reservations for my birthday weekend in Santa Fe. The menu proved to be very meat forward. Many options for meat lovers, less for those who do not eat pork or beef and if you are vegan chances are you will leave hungry. Our waiter was attentive, staff was pleasant and the items we had were good including the special cheese starter, the shrimp tacos (although they proved to have blood sausage on them), they were kind enough to leave the sausage out of the paella. We did find it odd that dinner rolls were served cold and sparkling wine did not get poured into flutes.
Overall not a bad evening just disappointing.

La Boca is one of Santa Fe's premier restaurants. James Campbell Caruso, the chef and owner, has received five James Beard nominations, and creates Spanish tapas for your dining pleasure. My favorites were the shrimp and the artichoke plates, they were both sooo delicious! Pass on the Patatas Bravas, though, they tasted reheated and not great. He definitely needs to revamp the potatoes.

Overall it was great. We ordered four tapas and three got to the table in twenty minutes and the fourth, the bruschetta took one hour to arrive. We waited patiently because that is what we went for. It was delicious even though it took way too long to arrive.

Our server, Maria, was excellent on all levels. The wine she suggested was great. Our appetizer and our dessert were excellent… But we were very disappointed with the two main course tapas we choose which were the specials of the day. The beef was just a matter of taste bud disagreement. The pork, however, was very dry and well below past La Boca experiences.

Wonderful service and truly excellent tapas. Our server was very professional and they had an acoustic guitar player that did not interfere with conversation. The only very slight negatives he would be that it is a small space and can feel a bit close. Great food though!

This used to be my favorite Santa Fe restaurant, but this visit the service was spotty. Twice the wrong dish was delivered to our table, once the wrong glass of wine, and the service felt rushed. The food was good, not excellent. I don’t think I’ll return, given the number of truly excellent restaurants in Santa Fe.

Our waitress took a good 15+ minutes to come to our table and her section was not particularly full. We had to ask for service twice to at last place our order. Also had to ask if there were specials, and our waitress could only remember one of two. The backup staff was all too ready to remove our plates and drinks before we were finished. There was also an incident with a sick dog that was quite unpleasant and no effort to apologize, comp drinks, or otherwise mitigate the unsightliness was taken.

The food at La Boca was very good, the prices were not! The portions were extremely small even for a Tapas restaurant. The food came out very slowly, one dish was forgotten until waiter was reminded. We got one wrong dish which was taken away. The service was disjointed at best and the prices were extremely high!
