Opened in 2006 by 8 time James Beard Award Nominee, Chef James Campbell Caruso.
La Boca has the feel of a lively European wine bar, featuring an extensive selection of carefully chosen Mediterranean and South American wines. Knowledgeable and animated staff graciously guide customers to the perfect wine to complement their meals. La Boca also prides itself on being an ambassador of Spanish sherry culture, transporting its guests to Cadiz in the crisp cool flavors of Fino, or the deep fig-essence of a Pedro Ximenez.
Full to capacity almost every night since its opening, La Boca has been a hit with both locals and the world travelers that visit Santa Fe. La Boca has earned numerous awards both local and national, including the Santa Fe Reporter’s “Restaurant of the Year,” and the International Wine and Food Society’s “Award of Excellence.”
Great place. Food is awesome. I was in Santa Fe for a week and I dinned there three times with different groups of people. They all loved it.
The food at La Boca was very good, the prices were not! The portions were extremely small even for a Tapas restaurant. The food came out very slowly, one dish was forgotten until waiter was reminded. We got one wrong dish which was taken away. The service was disjointed at best and the prices were extremely high!
While the food was excellent the service was slow at times. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful in picking items off the menu, but the items took a while to arrive to the table. Overall the experience was wonderful and the food was delicious. It was very relaxing atmosphere.
We love La Boca and go there as much as we can, especially for small get togethers, anniversaries and birthdays.
Food presentation and taste good, apart from several nasty mussels. Restaurant is impossibly cramped with tiny tables (an issue when trying to table share tapas and there is no room on the table for the server to place the food plates). Portions were ridiculously meager, even for tapas sizing, so prepare to leave still hungry or order 50% more than you think would be enough. Despite the hype, I wouldn’t recommend La Boca.
The waitress was rude, condescending, and abrupt. She ruined the ruined the meal
La Boca is a gem. The food and service are impeccable. The only thing I would change is the lighting. It was a little dark, and not in a romantic way. Everything else about my experience was fantastic!
This was our 3rd trip to Santa Fe and each time we make La Boca a MUST VISIT on our list! We will be back again in September of this year and again next summer. Rest assured that we will again be visiting La Boca on both occasions!
Superb tapas ending with delicious paella! Waiter Pablo gave excellent recommendations and service! Fantastic wine selection. Jamon Serrano tapa reminded me of our trip to Spain a few years back. Grilled octopus with fennel and grapefruit “Pulpo” was heavenly! Majoma loved. Great ambience, service and food! Super authentic Mediterranean food!
Good food, convenient for downtown & good service. We would return here for lunch.
This place is soooo much fun. The waiter was extraordinary. We had shrimp, chicken livers and Spanish chorizo. Forget the chorizo. We had 2 orders of shrimp.
Arrived at La Boca thinking we would be able to dine outdoors on their patio, but were told that the patio was not open on Tuesdays. Wish we had known in advance. I sent a special request beforehand, and the restaurant didn't mention that my request for outdoor seating could not be accommodated. So, we were seated at a very small table indoors. The table was really too small for two, when you take into account multiple tapas, salad, bread, and drinks. As for the food, enjoyed the grilled artichoke and goat cheese tapa best. The bread was also very tasty. Service was good. We might be back and try the patio another day.
The food was wonderful. There were specials that were not on the menu, but the server didn’t inform us. Another server was telling their table, but we were nearly done with our meal. Otherwise...I will definitely return.
Great food, friendly service, and wonderful live music (Lara Manzares when we were there). Get a table near the musician!
We arrived at La Boca having made reservations online with a note saying we were celebrationing our 39th wedding anniversary. No fewer than 6 staff members wished us well starting at the front door! We requested outdoor seating. Our table was ready.... and perfectly situated to view other small plates arriving around the patio to help us make decisions. The wait staff was helpful, nearby but not hovering, and very welcoming. And the food... beautifully plated, delicious, with many choices both sweet and savory. So, we fell in love again.... and will return from across the country to La Boca!
We enjoyed listening to Jesus Bas in the taberna! He is wonderful. The food is excellent and took us back to Spain. This is a special Santa Fe dining experience.
Favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. We went there twice.
What an exceptional restaurant. The food was unique and exceptional. Loved everything we tried. Service was perfect and friendly. Highly recommended.
The ambient is pretty cozy, not great for an intimate dinner, but good for a "standard" date. The food was very tasty although portions might have been a bit more generous.
Our second time and it was again wonderful. And we loved the guitarist!
La Boca is a Spanish Tapas restaurant which serves phenomenal food! We cannot say enough great things about this restaurant! We had the grilled artichoke hearts, manchego joven , bruschetta with mushrooms, grilled shrimp with white wine, and a desert torte. OMG we were in heaven! All the dishes were full of sublime flavors and texture and filling.
It also has a great wine list to choose.
Flat iron Tass were awesome! Sangria-4 stars!
We love it!!
Nice place with good tapas - some traditional and some creative. We especially enjoyed the dates with bacon and blue cheese dip. The service was good, but on verge of being to efficient trying to clean away the plates when we had decided on dating the trimmings.
Another wonderful evening with La Boca. We sat on the Taberna patio with friends. The food was good especially the bacon wrapped dates.
Dinner at La Boca was (and always is) incredible! This is always one of our Santa Fe dinner destinations, and La Boca never disappoints.
Our forth visit to La Boca. We have been back every time we are in Santa Fe. This time we came during Happy Hour and the items offered were outstanding from the bruschetta to the Bosque gateau. Dylan, our server was great guide through the menu.
Loved it! Only issue is that the tables are too small- especially for 2.
Nice, cosy Spanish tapas place. I had the fixed price lunch, with a fantastic omelette and potatoes, a very nice gazpacho and a lovely lemon tarte. Unfortunately they were out of Sangria, which seemed a bit odd for a Spanish place! Wait staff was attentive and friendly.
Took forever for someone to acknowledge us. Food was very good. Twice a server brought us food that was not ours. I think it was just an off night.
La Boca was recommended to us by our son who happened upon it during a cross country trip. We decided to drive up from Albuquerque where we were visiting this past weekend. So glad we did. The variety of small plates to try and share was great - the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful evening.
Excellent excellent excellent. I go to LaBoca about once a month and the food is not short of spectacular. One of the specials last night was fresh morels with serrano ham - to die for! Paella is always outstanding. Chef owns restaurants and is very hands on - he even grows some of the vegetables they serve. Pablo and Jay are favorite servers - SO professional.
Here for weekend. Drove from Denver to Santa Fe. Found this restaurant Open Table. Was really keen on trying this place.
Ordered Iberico Ham, Mojama (House Cured Yellow Fin Tuna with Boquerones, Avocado, Cucumber, Grilled Scallion, Pickled Onion, Preserved Lemon, Lemon Ginger Oil and Kombu Salad), Patatas Bravas (Fried potatoes with garlic aioli), New Mexico Flat Iron Steak.
Iberico Ham was good, probably on the expensive side ($26 USD). Mojama was interesting and fun to eat, probably an acquired taste because there is fish and seaweed involved. Patatas Bravas, which was being recommended by servers and ordered by many tables was underwhelming -- they layer the bottom of the pan with this chili oil that just made the potatoes really heavy and oily, the potatoes were not really crispy, and the garlic aioli was a bit too heavy / creamy for my taste. The Flat Iron Steak was nicely presented and cooked nicely to medium rare, but the texture and flavour of the meat was not exceptional, but I guess expected from a lean cut of beef.
Service was okay. There were two servers working the room, and maybe they are really busy, but waters we needed to ask for water refills on a few occasions, no one to really come by to ask us if we enjoyed our food, and I also felt some "judgy-ness" from server because we elected not to order a beverage other than tap water.
I would say the meal was good, but not great. Service was meh. I think they had a good selection of wine even though I didn't have any. Worth a try once for yourself if in town, but not the best, not the worst.
Paella was excellent! The reason I came back was for the ambiance. So reminded me of Spain.
At La Boca you hand yourself over to the experienced waitstaff. Ask questions but allow La Boca to guide your food and wine pairings. If you open up just a little and have fun the evening will become an “experience” not just dinner.
I was really excited to dine at La Boca after reading the reviews. However, the poor service really ruined the experience for us. After being seated, it took 15 mins for us to get some water and 30 minutes before our waiter came to take our drink order. By then we were annoyed and ready to leave. We then placed our orders and our third tapa did not arrive with the others. Overall a disappointing experience. We will not be going back.
Good food and great service; perfect!
Superb food, lovely Spanish guitar music.
Great food! Thank you! The wait staff is OUTSTANDING!!!
