Our favorite restaurant by far. Great service with a friendly family environment. After posting our Valentine's Day dinner many of my friends asked for the location. You'll be seeing a few new customers. Keep up the great work.

Only complaint would be the habitual drinkers at the bar...they take away from the atmosphere

After being seated on time, our waitress unfortunately did not find us for quite some time. The bracciole appetizer and grilled Caesar were quite good, but the Dante’s Margherita pizza did not come out for another 35-40 minutes (and no service in between), came out cold, and quite frankly looked and tasted nothing like it was described. While we ended up not having to pay for the pizza, leaving hungry (and waiting 15 minutes for the check) was very disappointing.

Thank you for coming into town. The fennel as an option is wonderful. Only pizza aficionados get it. I am old, and get it. Only 2 competitors in the area, maybe 3, if I count the original Home Run in on a good day. Thin crust pizza the only type reviewed. Villa Nova is Stickney (believe it or not), and a place in the city called Vito and Nicks. Both super, and both have really ugly, old school decor. Doesn’t make any difference, pizza is great. Riverside Foods carry’s Vito and Nicks in the frozen section. Not bad, had it once. Fresh is the only way to fly. Thanks again for opening a restaurant here in Riverside. Not much in the way of exceptional food nearby. Riverside Resturant is probably the best for Czech Slovak food. Pork dishes, and especially duck are top of the line. Also, you won’t believe the prices. There are also 1002 Mexican restaurants. The best is New Rebozza on Madison St. in Oak Park. You have to have the Carne asada and their chocolate jalapeño ice cream. One of Pacos famous Mole sauces will also put a smile on your face. Paco is quite the host. Thanks again, John Havlick Go Celtics

A really nice change and something very different for the suburbs. We find it challenging to find high quality restaurants here. La Barra is one of the few exceptions.

I have an allergic reaction to the overuse of garlic and a really bad reaction to tomato paste. Our server was concerned with my inquiry and made sure the chef was aware of the allergies and I was aware of the ingredients. La Barra does not use paste in any of the sauces we tried.

La Barra actually knows how to use garlic - as a SPICE and not as a major recipe component.

We started with a bottle of wine and the Garlic Knots. These diminutive, baked croissants are lightly brushed with garlic butter. They were excellent. We also had Mama's Meatballs with marinara ricotta and Parmesan. The meatballs were very tender. The flavor and execution were on point.

We followed with the Chicken Milanese Caesar Salad (with Romaine, arugula, kale, radicchio, Parmesan, shaved cauliflower, lemon Caesar dressing). One of the chefs brought out the salad and asked if we wanted him to split it for us, offering us new side plates. A very nice touch. The salad was well made. The breading on the chicken was crispy and the greens were fresh and cold. The dressing was light.

We followed with the Dante Margherita Artisan Pizza (Organic tomatoes, fresh marjoram, Wisconsin sheep’s milk artisan cheese, organic tomato sauce). The pizza was like nothing else we've had in suburbia. The crust was crisp, thin and buttery and the toppings were absolutely fresh. Overall, just an excellent experience.

There are only a few improvement points; (1) Our server was getting a bit anxious when every else was leaving and we were still enjoying our wine. (2) After our server poured the wine, he wasn't seen again until the pizza arrived. Different people served all the other dishes. (3) The timing of our food was a bit rushed. (4) The other staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our server could've been a little more involved.

Good friendly service. Food was of good quality & plentiful. Conversation can be a little difficult. It seems as though you can hear parts of every table conversation almost like an echo effect. Parking is at a premium also.

Our dining experience reminded us why La Barra is our favorite neighborhood restaurant! We were seated right away and warm bread was brought right away. Our drink order was taken and we ordered our food. We started with the Local Greens Salad which was plenty for two. We then had the Braciole and an order of Sausage and Peppers with an order of Rigatoni in red sauce. Delicious! We finished with an excellent Carrot cake and coffee. The service was very attentive and personal. The evening was most delightful. We will certainly be back!

Great service and cocktails in a warm friendly setting as usual. But to the tell the truth, our pizza was lousy, no better than frozen pizza from the supermarket frozen food aisle. We’ve had some good pizza here in the past, seems to be a consistency or quality control issue. Hope they get it under control because we’d hate to see this place go.

Food was excellent- as always.
Service was painful. Both app and entree had to be sent back because it was the wrong order. Hard to make that mistake twice! And to top it off, Open Table reservation wasn’t validated so had to have that corrected because I received the “failure to show” email from Open Table.
Hoping it was just an off night because we do like La Barra, but may be a little while before we go back.

I attended the restaurant Sunday evening for an anniversary dinner with my husband. The restaurant was pretty full. We were seated near the bar area where there was a group of people. The group was very loud and rude. Their rudeness extended not only to the surrounding customers but also the staff. My husband and I were in awe of this behavior, which was tolerated for some odd reason. The food was good. Our server, Bryan, was phenomenal he made great recommendations and was very attentive. Honestly Bryan is the reason why we would visit again

First the good, The service was good. My waiter was attentive, but not overly attentive to the point where I feel rushed to order. Ambiance was, for sure, energetic...a little too loud for my taste, but that's more personal preference.

The bad... The food!!!! Overly priced, really, really small portions, and food was not prepared right. For appetizers we ordered crispy calamari and the bruschetta. Their was nothing crispy about the calamari. The breading was falling off before we could get it to the marinara sauce. The bruschetta was just ok. I think it tasted like the Trader Joe's, except twice the price. My husband had the gnocchi and I had the chicken parmesan. The chicken was burnt on the outside, and undercooked on the inside. I cut it open and it was red, not from the marinara sauce. Parts were still with blood. They exchanged it, but the second onewas the same. I ended up not eating anything. The cook said it was normal for it to be like that, but chicken is not good eating it raw. I tried cutting it from two different places and it was undercooked. So, not going back anytime soon.
