La Barra - Riverside
We had a very nice dinner. Really liked the food and our server. Loved the zucchini fritti and the bruschetta as starters. My husband had the whitefish and he requested capers which the kitchen happily added. I had the sliders which were very tasty. We always have a nice meal here and love the location and town.
Waitress was not good. Kept rushing off even in the middle of giving her our order.
Great! Bar was a bit loud, but there was a birthday party, and a divider between the bar and the main dining area was very helpful. Great food, great service. Will absolutely return!
Enjoy our neighborhood restaurant La Barra in Riverside. Great place to meet family and neighbors without having to drive too far. Food is great, wine selection is good. If I could change anything, it would be to add some form of noise control. At times, it can be very very noisey.
Been here for the Happy Hour bar seating several times and have enjoyed it. The food is delicious.
Very nice having Michelle back as bartender/server with suggestions
Got a table right away. Tony our server was very attentive. Food was delicious-I had salmon with risotto. Noise level was high but it was Saturday night.
Will definitely go again
Delicious food, friendly and efficient service, beautiful atmosphere, and easy parking!
Great Pizza and good ambiance. Friendly staff and conveniently located!
Michelle was outstanding!!!
Happy to see her back on Wednesday.
Waitress was attentive and quick
The food was delicious, we each had something different and enjoyed every mouthful.
Since our last visit about 6 months ago. there has been improvement. The food is tasty and it was served warm. However, the time to get our food (45 minutes) from the time we ordered, when only 3 other tables were occupied, was a bit too long. Our 2 grandsons were with us and they were disappointed that they could not get American cheese on their burgers. The fries were very good.
I would expect a better and more extensive Italian wine selection at a place like this.
With some fine tuning. this rating could move up to 4 stars. If you are in a hurry, order ahead.
Great Local Place, the food is good and the service is always spot on.
We booked this Restaurant last minute on open Table, and we
absolutely loved it! great service and food. Would definitely
recommend it to our friends.
This is such a wonderful place! The food is amazing, and the service is superb! We love coming here with our young kids! Everyone makes you feel so welcome!
Another great meal at La Barra. Sherry was awesome and Riverside needed a gathering spot like La Barra.
Great food and service. Prices were reasonable . Will certainly go back again.
My first time there and the food the excellent!! The service could have been better the server was not very attentive to our needs and did not get our order correct.
I took my family and friends to LaBarra’s Sunday for a celebration and we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the food tremendously! Everyone said everything tasted great. We loved the Calimari and octopus plate, the antipasto salad and the pizzas were delicious! Even my grandkids polished off their meals! Thank you for a delightful experience. Very nice waitress and bus boy too. And thank you to the owners who came to personally say hello and ask how things were!
Our favorite restaurant by far. Great service with a friendly family environment. After posting our Valentine's Day dinner many of my friends asked for the location. You'll be seeing a few new customers. Keep up the great work.
Only complaint would be the habitual drinkers at the bar...they take away from the atmosphere
After being seated on time, our waitress unfortunately did not find us for quite some time. The bracciole appetizer and grilled Caesar were quite good, but the Dante’s Margherita pizza did not come out for another 35-40 minutes (and no service in between), came out cold, and quite frankly looked and tasted nothing like it was described. While we ended up not having to pay for the pizza, leaving hungry (and waiting 15 minutes for the check) was very disappointing.
food was good, but it took almost an hour in between our appetizer and our main course.
I had an outstanding meal on Tuesday night.
Then we had an outstanding thin crust pizza .Very reasonably priced too.
We are definitely coming back.
Excellent meal! Attentive service!
Love Having such a quality restaurant in our town. Great food and wine with neighbors.
The Sea Bass was excellent and the entree Braciole was scrumptious! A gem in the neighborhood. Kitchen staff is the backbone! Waitstaff is their support!
Portions were small for the price! Calamari appetizer was very small portioned for its price.
The service was excellent! The shrimp scampi special and the walleye pike special was outstanding! Chgo style excellence in Riverside!
The food was delicious! Too cold in the room we were in, however.
Thank you for coming into town. The fennel as an option is wonderful. Only pizza aficionados get it. I am old, and get it. Only 2 competitors in the area, maybe 3, if I count the original Home Run in on a good day. Thin crust pizza the only type reviewed. Villa Nova is Stickney (believe it or not), and a place in the city called Vito and Nicks. Both super, and both have really ugly, old school decor. Doesn’t make any difference, pizza is great. Riverside Foods carry’s Vito and Nicks in the frozen section. Not bad, had it once. Fresh is the only way to fly. Thanks again for opening a restaurant here in Riverside. Not much in the way of exceptional food nearby. Riverside Resturant is probably the best for Czech Slovak food. Pork dishes, and especially duck are top of the line. Also, you won’t believe the prices. There are also 1002 Mexican restaurants. The best is New Rebozza on Madison St. in Oak Park. You have to have the Carne asada and their chocolate jalapeño ice cream. One of Pacos famous Mole sauces will also put a smile on your face. Paco is quite the host. Thanks again, John Havlick Go Celtics
Food was delicious Pizza is excellent some entrees are very small portions. Noise level is too high
As always, great food and wonderful service. Have not been disappointed yet
A really nice change and something very different for the suburbs. We find it challenging to find high quality restaurants here. La Barra is one of the few exceptions.
I have an allergic reaction to the overuse of garlic and a really bad reaction to tomato paste. Our server was concerned with my inquiry and made sure the chef was aware of the allergies and I was aware of the ingredients. La Barra does not use paste in any of the sauces we tried.
La Barra actually knows how to use garlic - as a SPICE and not as a major recipe component.
We started with a bottle of wine and the Garlic Knots. These diminutive, baked croissants are lightly brushed with garlic butter. They were excellent. We also had Mama's Meatballs with marinara ricotta and Parmesan. The meatballs were very tender. The flavor and execution were on point.
We followed with the Chicken Milanese Caesar Salad (with Romaine, arugula, kale, radicchio, Parmesan, shaved cauliflower, lemon Caesar dressing). One of the chefs brought out the salad and asked if we wanted him to split it for us, offering us new side plates. A very nice touch. The salad was well made. The breading on the chicken was crispy and the greens were fresh and cold. The dressing was light.
We followed with the Dante Margherita Artisan Pizza (Organic tomatoes, fresh marjoram, Wisconsin sheep’s milk artisan cheese, organic tomato sauce). The pizza was like nothing else we've had in suburbia. The crust was crisp, thin and buttery and the toppings were absolutely fresh. Overall, just an excellent experience.
There are only a few improvement points; (1) Our server was getting a bit anxious when every else was leaving and we were still enjoying our wine. (2) After our server poured the wine, he wasn't seen again until the pizza arrived. Different people served all the other dishes. (3) The timing of our food was a bit rushed. (4) The other staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our server could've been a little more involved.
Good food, nice environment, service wasn’t as satisfactory as previous visits.
Birthday was great!
Good friendly service. Food was of good quality & plentiful. Conversation can be a little difficult. It seems as though you can hear parts of every table conversation almost like an echo effect. Parking is at a premium also.
We had a family dinner after Christmas, the food was vey good. The pasta is fresh, and the sausage is locally sourced and is outstanding. We'll be returning.
Great atmosphere and good food. Excellent service.
