La Barra - Riverside Ratings and Reviews
Went to dinner here after zoo lights and it was the best part of the evening. The Ravoli nachos were delicious. Everyone was so happy with their meal choices, cheese pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parm, and baked lasagna. We will definitely be back!
The food was great!!! The service was alittle inconsistant. A couple was seated next to us about 15 minutes after we were and yet they got thier drinks, bread and entree way before us. At one point i could see our drinks sitting st the bar for 5 minutes before our waitress delivered them. Also i ordered an Italian Manhattan which was great the first time but the second one had much more ice and was missing the cherry which kinda makes a manhattan.
Overall the meal was above and beyond delicious. Great presentation and very yummy!!
We will go back hoping the waitress just had an off night.
Our friends and I enjoy checking out new restaurants in the area. Since we had been to other places in the LaBarra group we thought it would be fun to head over to Riverside to try the new LaBarra everyone was talking about.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were caught up in traffic trying make our way to the hostess stand. After we checked in, we had to wait a few minutes for our table. Unfortunately, there wasn't a good place to stand or sit. The wait staff used the waiting area to work between the main dining room and bar tables. We were jostled around trying to find a good place to wait.
After we were seated, it took about 10 minutes to be greeted by the waitress. Although she was pleasant, she wasn't present. It took another 20 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered. And then another 30 minutes for our food.
Although the place is warm and inviting, has a decent menu, I would not return or recommend as a result of the less than desirable service.
We went to celebrate a birthday and they were very accommodating. Our server was super helpful in helping us split multiple entree's so we can taste a bit of everything. The calamari is delicious, the drinks were delicious, and the tiramisu was a nice way to end our evening there. Definitely will return!
Been wanting to dine here for awhile. From the moment we walked in, the place had a great vibe. The food was outstanding and the portion sizes were more than substantial. I would highly recommend the braciole, it will not disappoint. Also, the pizza is amazing. I'm looking forward to returning because there are quite a few other items I'm looking forward to trying. Great food in a lovely town, with wonderful service!!!
The food was wonderful and I really enjoy being able to hold a discussion without having to yell to be heard. Our table had people having the salmon and the thin crust pizza and everyone's meals were superb. The highlight was the creme broulee. The chef here always seems to develop the most outstanding food and desert choices. We come here at least 2-3 times a month and should come more often.
The food was absolutely wonderful -- i had a pumpkin gnocchi which was perfect for mid-October and i am still thinking about. Roasted brussel sprouts were served with so much bacon and parmesan that blended very well together. Mussels were small but the white wine sauce was delicious and the bread they served was a perfect match to fully savor it. My only gripe at all was that we were utterly rushed. It was 7pm on a saturday night, not all tables were full, there were tables with kids and they were fine, but we got our apps and main dishes within a few minutes of each other and we were in no rush whatsoever. it took a rare date night where we had the luxury of time and it was crammed it into an hour. Our server was pleasant but seemed in a hurry to get us out. otherwise i will still recommend it and want to go back with a larger group of friends. it's worth another shot based on the food alone.
Our third time here at La Barra Riverside , now sharing it with more family.
(We first came to La Barra Oak Brook via the nearby Labriola Bakery & Café, with their great menu based on Rich Labriola's artisan breads, and were happy to find the Riverside location.)
NIce chewy breads, and very good appetizers (grilled calamari with sun dried tomatoes!, fava toast with ricotta cheese); grilled Caesar salad is unique yet great. Artisan pizzas are very tasty, the special seafood salad is delicious. Nice wine list too.
Restaurant interior design is current and appropriate, service staff moving quickly yet attentive on a busy and crowded night.
We're coming back!
The service was extremely slow. No bread was brought to the table until we asked for it ! Someone came and filled only one glass of water when all were empty! So disappointed. As a Riverside resident I was so looking forward to the opening of this restaurant.... will not return unless I have a unlimited amount of time!!!... or a gift certificate...;)
Our server was slow. We said let the food come out whenever ready but wasn't expecting the order it did come out, the short ribs and pizza came out first then a simple salad was last and pretty late. A little over priced for what you get/quality of food. I ordered the baked goat cheese and all pieces of the bread were burnt. My friend did not like her Brussels sprouts or salad and another didn't care for the pizza. I would have enjoyed a cheese platter but I remember the last time I was here, it was definitely not worth the $20.
This was our first visit, and we immediately started planning our next. We started with some of the best fried calamari I've had. We moved onto the pizza. The thin crust Danny's special is excellent!! Sausage, mushroom, onion, and green pepper... You can't go wrong. The artisan salsiccia pizza has a ciabatta crust, and missed the mark with us. We're looking forward to our next visit to try the pasta.
Second time dining at La Barra in Riverside. Both time the food was good, but the service is very scattered. Lots of confusion, from our initial reservation to our server(s) to the general manger(s) asking us how things were.
Everything took unusually long, and there wasn't a clear idea who our server was and that caused additional delays on getting drinks and food.
I love Labriola. And want this place to succeed...but the staff needs some help and training.
We'll go back, and hope the experience is a bit more polished than the last two times.
Here's to hoping.
