Kyma - Roslyn Ratings and Reviews
We went for a Birthday lunch and food was delicious until my friend found a hair in her food. Manager came over and said they were embarrassed and would remove from bill. I t was a price fixed menu and he priced appetizer, vegetable and dessert a la carte. It ended up we saved two dollars on my friends dish. Totally unacceptable. We will not return!!!
Mostly everything is working in favor of Kyma!
Available parking, staff, ambiance, service, food and portions, bathroom cleanliness and overall energy!
Kyma chips & presentation is perfect. Drink portions.. on point but expensive. Spicy Margarita needed a bit more "pow", but second one, when addressed, was much better.
Soup and salad was plentiful. Service was perfect and waiters knowledge about dishes was evident.
Tiger shrimp was charbroiled, but undercooked. Given another 30 -45 seconds, it would have been perfect. Swordfish on skewers was big and meaty.
Did not feel rushed which was very appreciated.
If the prices were lower, I could see coming here more often; but for now it will remain a place I can cross off on my bucket list and kept for special occasions!
We were seated at a table right next to the bar, so the overflow from people were colliding with my chair as we were eating. The food was outstanding but the overall experience was not good. I would not recommend it to other people as they are not accommodating.
As always Kyma didn’t disappoint!!! Food is always fresh (great octopus) staff is always very friendly & professional and the management is ever present on the floor checking on guests.
Thank you for once again taking great care of me and my family. We will surely be back soon.
FABULOUS meal at Kyma tonight for my birthday. We arrived on time for our 7:30 res and were seated right away. Service was great from start to finish. The bread and hummus on the table was well above average (pita was grilled!). For apps we shared the Kyma chips (zucchini only, I'm not a fan of eggplant) and the grilled octopus. Wow! Both were phenomenal. The chips were crispy and addictive with amazing tzatziki. The octopus was the BEST I've ever had! EXCEPTIONAL! For entrees Scott had the tuna special and I had the tiger shrimp. Sides were sweet peppers and the Israeli couscous (slightly overcooked). For dessert I had delicious baklava ice cream! So good! The negatives... it's SO loud in there. And the seating is pretty tight. They have a huge staff, which is great, but they were constantly knocking into Scott's chair. It was also a 1-1/2 hour drive from Stony Brook. Next time I'd opt for lunch, when there is less of a scene. Oh, and it's pretty pricey, but appropriate for a special occasion.
I have been to Kyma several times. However, I just have not been overly impressed at all lately. The food was meh and the service a bit overbearing at times. We eat out all the time and all different fine dining restaurants on LI and NYC and pay little attention to the pricing. With that said, I have noticed the prices for Kyma are really high and unfortunately the food is not at equal par. I will choose to spend my money elsewhere for a better quality meal
Always a wonderful meal at Kyma...from the hot pita bread to the most delicious baklava ice cream -everything was perfect. There was a new appetizer with cauliflower, pistachios - excellent. Always love the garides...dining here always feels like a special occasion...
The hostess was so thoughtful and brought us to the most quiet spot in the restaurant so we could converse comfortably. This is a wonderfully energy-filled venue so quiet is not a common request. Our waiter was incredible. He noticed the moment we finished a drink or a plate. He had detailed knowledge of the wine list, the menu & ingredients and made excellent recommendations. There was a rain storm and a short loss of electricity which he handled like a pro - supplying extra candles and a sense of humor. Recommend to anyone loves good food, impeccable service and willing to pay for it.
Dependably excellent in every way. Feels like you have been transported to Greece in a corner of Roslyn. The manager was circulating and genuinely engaging customers, to ensure everyone was happy. Bread service is yummy warm pita with yogurt dipping sauce. Apps were divine avgolemono soup and grilled prawns - hard to decide which was better. Entrees were pink snapper and dorado, again - top notch. Dessert kadif (sp?) was layers of shredded phyllo, custard, whipped cream and pistachios - very nice. And, decaf was great! Worth the cost.
This place has the absolutely best fish. It is always prepared perfectly. The menu is large and there great dishes for everyone. Apps, main course and deserts are all great and every choice is a good one. Hard to get reservations here but worth planning ahead.
The food as usual was quite good. The expensive octopus, which is amazing, is getting smaller and smaller with the years but the amount of onions is growing exponentially so that your plate looks quite full.
The service for a change was a bit on the decline, we had to ask for things at least twice if not more including the check, bread, water, how to prepare the fish, etc. Our conclusions is the wait staff say yes but they don't really listen and don't really do what one asks.
Otherwise the food is great but expensive
Delicious food! Our group consisted of 4 people. We decided not to order entrees but ordered almost everything off the extensive appetizer list. I think we ordered 8-10 appetizer items total. Every item we ordered was prepared with love and with attention to detail. We will be going back there in a few weeks again. We have been there many times before. Their consistency to great, fresh food is why it's always busy. I hate busy places but I'm happy to put up with it at this place...THE FOOD IS THAT GOOD.
BTW- I've world traveled extensively but have never tasted better tomatoes than Kyma. I don't know where they get them from but kudos to the buyer. ..everything else follows suit.
