Kyma - Roslyn Ratings and Reviews
Met friends for lunch at Kyma. Prix-fixe lunch was a great deal at $33 - including appetizer, entree, desert and coffee or tea. The food was generally very good to excellent. The decor was classy and the restaurant was quiet. Service was very professional. However, the two ladies in our group each requested a glass of white wine and the waiter served them, but he failed to mention that the wine was $19 per glass, nearly 2/3rds of the prixe-fixe cost of the entire meal! There were also extra charges for some of our food choices - but those charges were clearly specified on the menu. Would highly recommend Kyma for the prix-fixe lunch special - but would caution that you be very careful to ask for the price of any wine before you order.
Kyma - Roslyn NY
Maybe it's the extensive wine list by the glass or maybe it's the fresh seafood displayed on ice that reassured me that it was going to be a good night. A good night is what it was! Such good choices of healthy seafood, one must sit and order dinner to understand. We started with grilled calamari and grilled octopus. Our entrées were langoustine and Black Sea bass, both dishes prepared perfectly with the right amount of herbs to enjoy the freshness of the seafood. The highlight of the night was the cheese cake - it was divine. Service was impeccable. Kyma is moving to the top of my list of restaurants to frequent in Roslyn. I must say, I'm biased to restaurants which have a good Sancerre on their wine list and Kyma did.
We were here for our anniversary.
The restaurant decor is beautiful, and the ambience is cosy, warm, friendly, inviting, and serene.
The food was amazing.
I ordered the lemon- egg- chicken soup with orzo, and my husband had the vegetarian lentil soup.
Both were delicious.
We had roasted beets, in skordalia sauce, for our appetizer.
I had, as my entree, Scottish salmon, prepared to perfection, with rice pilaf, and my husband requested the whole branzino.
We will definitely return, perhaps this time for lunch.
A wonderful, romantic setting.
A memorable evening.
I was taking our family out for dinner to celebrate my daughter-in-laws birthday 5 adults and a 5 year old child. I have been at the restaurant before and know how great the food is. If you come early, the noise level is bearable and you are able to converse with everyone at your table. If you come later it is quite noisy. The cocktails and wine were great and the food was wonderful. Two of us had the seafood dish with pasta and white wine sauce, my husband had the whole fish which he said was cooked to perfection, my grandson had the orzo dish which he ate (which is a bit of a miracle because he is a picky eater). My son had the steak which he loved and my daughter-in-law had a fish dish which she said was excellent. We also ordered their Zuccini and eggplant chips with tsaziki dip as an appetizer as well as the Spinach Pie and two salads. My daughter-in-law ordered the Chocolate cake for dessert which they put a candle on and most ordered either coffee or tea to complete the meal. The service was excellent. It is a pricey place but it is a meal to remember.
We went for a Birthday lunch and food was delicious until my friend found a hair in her food. Manager came over and said they were embarrassed and would remove from bill. I t was a price fixed menu and he priced appetizer, vegetable and dessert a la carte. It ended up we saved two dollars on my friends dish. Totally unacceptable. We will not return!!!
Mostly everything is working in favor of Kyma!
Available parking, staff, ambiance, service, food and portions, bathroom cleanliness and overall energy!
Kyma chips & presentation is perfect. Drink portions.. on point but expensive. Spicy Margarita needed a bit more "pow", but second one, when addressed, was much better.
Soup and salad was plentiful. Service was perfect and waiters knowledge about dishes was evident.
Tiger shrimp was charbroiled, but undercooked. Given another 30 -45 seconds, it would have been perfect. Swordfish on skewers was big and meaty.
Did not feel rushed which was very appreciated.
If the prices were lower, I could see coming here more often; but for now it will remain a place I can cross off on my bucket list and kept for special occasions!
We were seated at a table right next to the bar, so the overflow from people were colliding with my chair as we were eating. The food was outstanding but the overall experience was not good. I would not recommend it to other people as they are not accommodating.
As always Kyma didn’t disappoint!!! Food is always fresh (great octopus) staff is always very friendly & professional and the management is ever present on the floor checking on guests.
Thank you for once again taking great care of me and my family. We will surely be back soon.
FABULOUS meal at Kyma tonight for my birthday. We arrived on time for our 7:30 res and were seated right away. Service was great from start to finish. The bread and hummus on the table was well above average (pita was grilled!). For apps we shared the Kyma chips (zucchini only, I'm not a fan of eggplant) and the grilled octopus. Wow! Both were phenomenal. The chips were crispy and addictive with amazing tzatziki. The octopus was the BEST I've ever had! EXCEPTIONAL! For entrees Scott had the tuna special and I had the tiger shrimp. Sides were sweet peppers and the Israeli couscous (slightly overcooked). For dessert I had delicious baklava ice cream! So good! The negatives... it's SO loud in there. And the seating is pretty tight. They have a huge staff, which is great, but they were constantly knocking into Scott's chair. It was also a 1-1/2 hour drive from Stony Brook. Next time I'd opt for lunch, when there is less of a scene. Oh, and it's pretty pricey, but appropriate for a special occasion.
I have been to Kyma several times. However, I just have not been overly impressed at all lately. The food was meh and the service a bit overbearing at times. We eat out all the time and all different fine dining restaurants on LI and NYC and pay little attention to the pricing. With that said, I have noticed the prices for Kyma are really high and unfortunately the food is not at equal par. I will choose to spend my money elsewhere for a better quality meal
Always a wonderful meal at Kyma...from the hot pita bread to the most delicious baklava ice cream -everything was perfect. There was a new appetizer with cauliflower, pistachios - excellent. Always love the garides...dining here always feels like a special occasion...
