togarashi, garlic, lime zest
shrimp tempura, assorted vegetables
miso broth, tofu, wakame, green onion
It was lovely and quiet. The service was great, our server was very knowledgeable and helpful accommodating our gluten- and dairy-free dietary restrictions. We will definitely be returning to try more of the menu!
Great ambiance, poor customer service. The food was tolerable but was served cold due to the servers being distracted. I was also charged for food I didn’t received but actually ordered. I would not recommend.
Good food greet service.
Delicious and creative! We loved the music too!
Phenomenal!! Best fish we’ve had in HTX.
I wouldn't hesitate to go there again for a special evening. They are known for sushi, so that's a "must," but don't sleep on their other options as well. I highly recommend going with the omakase offering. It is a chef-created multiple course surprise meal of the very best and freshest they have to offer. 10/10 will dine there again.
We had a great experience, sushi was very fresh and the spicy garlic edamame was not over oily like some other places make it. Tempura was hot and crispy. The waitstaff were very attentive and our waitress was so knowledgeable, she taught me a few things about sake!
Food and service were incredible. Will be back, one of the best dining experiences we have had in a while. Unique flavors and fresh fresh fish.
As always a very good place for lunch. And some new Sake's on the list!
Love the food the atmosphere, the service and violin music
The food was outstanding - a mixture of nigiri, sashimi and hot small plates - all very flavorful. The atmosphere on a Saturday night was good - not too crowded or slow, they had a wonderful violinist that was playing music that was really great touch to our evening. It was a great girls night out. The service was a little slow if it had been any other situation but we didn't mind because we were enjoying catching up. Overall, would recommend it!
Best Omakase I’ve found in Houston. My wife and I will be back!
Good neighborhood japanese restaurant, on the more upscale side. Jamie provided good service, although a bit short staffed on a Saturday night. They have an extensive Japanese whiskey menu. The only downside was that the music, including their strolling violinist, was too loud.
Love, love love this place! What a gem and they added a violinist! Remarkable!!!!
A bit over priced compared with kata robata on sashimi.
Love this place. Always great food and service.
Great service. Great food. Nice atmosphere. What else can you ask for?!!
We had high expectations and we’re not disappointed. KUU is still outstanding
Always a great place for lunch, and this time there were some great additions to the drink menu. New Beer and Sake selections. Tracy was kind enough to bring them to the table so we could make a decision.
Sea bass was cooked well. Small portion for most. If I had to guess it was maybe a 3oz fillet. I was satiated. You must try the garlic edamame!
Food was great. Service was exceptional.
Date night and wanted sushi that was not the usual experience. Kuu didn’t disappoint.
This is quickly becoming our favorite Sushi restaurant in Houston. The food is always fresh. The new items are fun and different. And their Beer and Sake selection is top notch. Put in a sashimi order and then order some appetizers while they build it. And don't forget the Jun roll!
Our go to Houston restaurant for Sushi. Consistently very good. Way better than any Sushi restaurant I've been to elsewhere.
Kitchen is a bit slpe.
But server Jennifer was awesome & attentive
Table outside on lovely Sat Eve. Traffic noise ebbed and flowed, but the violinist was great!
It took us a while to finally go here but now that we have a few times we have been going with some frequency. Fun place with a modern and tasteful buildout/decor. Service is pretty good...varies from great to good but never poor. I do recommend reservations as the place gets busy on the weekends, when we go.
Food is tasty. I find if you want to get full you need to order some sushi rolls otherwise very Euro sized portions...small for TX. But high quality.
Drinks are delicious.
KUU is one of the best restaurants in Houston. Love them so much.
Great as always.
My boyfriend and I tried the omakase, we thought it was average, almost disappointing compared to other places around Houston such as Uchi and Roka. Our server was kind and attentive, we just thought it was odd how there was no set omakase menu and was more of the server’s choice instead of chef’s choice. A lot of the cold dishes and lamb were on the sweeter side with fruit garnishes and vinaigrettes which we thought masked the taste of the proteins too much. It also doesn’t come with dessert unlike other omakases we have tried. The wagyu is domestic so it doesn’t melt in your mouth like how Japanese wagyu does. The few drinks we tried were okay, a lot of fruitiness and tartness to them without being able to taste the alcohol. Nigiri and sashimi were also okay, our favorites were the salmon belly and chutoro. Overall we thought it was an average experience especially for the price point so expectations were high, however well worth the try. We’re just snobs when it comes to sushi lol. Next time we will just order the dishes ourselves if we come back
Las instalaciones muy viejitas y sucias
So good so consistent my favorite
We celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary with the Omakase (chef's choice) tasting menu. WOW. 8 courses of the freshest fish and seafood flown in from Japan, served by a wonderfully knowledgeable and attentive server, and prepared with creativity, artistry and the perfect balance of contrasting flavors and textures. We had a Happy Anniversary note from management, and a celebratory dessert that blew us away (black sesame macaron topped with a light mousse and miso ice cream -- see what I mean about artistry?). This is definitely the best way to celebrate a special occasion, or to find whatever excuse you need to call some Tuesday a special occasion).
Thank you, KUU!!!
Our waiter was nice and helpful. Very attentive to details and we had a great time. Plus the food was awesome and we enjoyed the violin player they hired last night.
Food and service top notch, as always
The food, service and ambience is exceptional! I will definitely frequent this restaurant!
Excellent food and service. Our server Antonio was great. Wonderful dining experience.
