Kubo's Sushi & Washoku
Booking Counter Seating is for the Sushi Bar.
We waited for an hour and a half - and still didn't have any food - so guess what - we left. We had drinks and I offered to pay for those but the manager refused to accept payment - that was the only thing that may get us to come back!!! BTW, we ordered sushi when we ordered our drinks.
Michael, we are so sorry about the wait you experienced during your visit. It is not our norm. Our restaurant is still in soft opening, and Father's Day weekend was our busiest yet. We take your comments into consideration as we move forward, and have added additional staff to meet the growing volume. We do hope you'll visit us again!
Great date just had a stomach ache so didn’t get to eat... Would definitely go back !

Food was great. They were out of a wine we wanted. And it was a late dinner—it would have been nice if the ambiance was better. It’s very bright in there.
Thank you for your encouraging review. As we are still in our soft opening, we keep a limited stock to finish items. We do look to re-stock as soon as possible, and we are sorry we did not have your selection during your visit. Also, we are adjusting our lighting to improve the ambiance. I was so excited to see that Kubo’s reopened only closer to me!! I used to frequent their location in Rice Village and was so disappointed when they closed. I had high expectations and we were not disappointed. The new location is light and bright and modern. The service was outstanding and the food exceptional! We had the calamari tempura and it was light, crunchy and delicious. The Washington Roll was similar to an old favorite at previous location ... absolutely fabulous! The Wagyu Roll was off the chart good!! What we also appreciated was the size of the rolls.... compared to other popular sushi joints (Uchi, which we love too) the value is another bonus!! I highly recommend giving Kubo’s a try!!! I will be going back soon!

We were seated toward the back where it was significantly darker. Meal was great, employees were attentive.

The price does not match the quality that was served. The flavors and temperatures were subpar and didn’t match the concept that the chef was trying to achieve. The restaurant was new and ran out of 2-3 items that we wanted. It would be nice if the wait staff informed their guest ahead of time of items that are currently unavailable. Menus were sheets of paper that had water marks on them and the words were no longer legible. The food was said to be “the traditional” food served in Japan. Nothing on the menu suggests this and we had to just agree with the story the manger told us.
We are so sorry that you were displeased with your experience. Indeed, our restaurant did only recently open, and that would explain the temporary menus as well as the items we were out of. We are still in the process of upgrading our menus with a final selection, we are increasing our kitchen stock to meet the growing customer base. We appreciate your patience and hope you'll give us another try as we adapt new changes based on your comments.
They have some service issues to work out. The sushi was very average but the kitchen fare shows promise.
