Indonesian
We were novices going into the food business. We were not career restaurateurs’. We had no idea how to open a restaurant. But we knew we wanted people to try the food. So we decided one day that we were going to try something with typical Indonesian food. If we were going to do it though we wanted more than just an eatery or restaurant. We wanted people to have an experience too, a little escape to “Bali” if you will. After searching for a while, we found such a place at the Yellow Green Market in Hollywood Florida. So in the summer of 2014 we opened. We began by just offering samples. We needed people to try the food. At the beginning we had no idea that it would ever take off. Well a couple of months are now almost 4 years ago and two locations later offering more and more delicious food to our growing patronage. We thank everyone that has supported us through the years and hope to continue to bring in a few surprises here and there to keep you coming back.

The location was easily accessible and the restaurant’s decor funky and fun. What was most impressive was the spectacular flavor profiles. The food was meticulously prepared and the flavors were amazing. One of the owners came to greet us and he was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience. We will definitely be back!

I was unfamiliar with Indonesian cuisine, and it was excellent. Somewhat similar to Thai, although a bit spicier. We arrived a few minutes late due to Hollywood's "fun run" and extra crowds for to spring break. The staff was very friendly. We had to wait a short while for a table. The restaurant is very small and we were offered an outdoor table which I generally prefer, but at 9:00, the music from next door was blaring. Anyway, the food was delish. We had the house special for 2. The rice was great, served in a cone shape like the volcano, Krakatoa. The beef, lamb, and chicken were each tender and flavorful. One in our group had the Seafood Mei, seafood with noodles, which was also a winner. All in all, it was a great dinner!

The food was absolutely phenomenal. One of the gals in our group walked passed the open kitchen and commented that "This place is the real deal - they are grinding their own spices!" Service was a bit spotty, but extraordinarily friendly and helpful. They just needed one more server.

It was wonderful to find Indonesian food in an area where there are very few restaurants offering the specialty. The service was very good, the food was very good. The sound level of the music playing and the other parties dining was loud. Still, a very unique experience and lovely food. Wine & beer is offered.

The first time I tasted Krakatoa cuisine, they had just opened a stand at the Yellow-Green Farmers market. That’s all it took to get me to come back again and again. Years later, I’m still raving about the unique and creative offerings, and with the expanded location in trendy downtown Hollywood, this is not to be missed! A surprise for your tastebuds!

First time eating Indonesian food so nothing to compare it to. But we really enjoyed it. Great service. Large portions, nicely served. Simple ambiance but constant with all else. Wine list is quite limited. Recommended.

Parking was fairly simple for that area. The restaurant is obviously in the old buildings of downtown Hollywood but I don’t use that to judge a restaurant food quality. I don’t care if the place is a total dive if the food is good. The food here was definitely good as I went here for lunch on my birthday with my mother. I was told upon arriving that if I got any satay That they don’t like their charcoal grill until 6 PM and it would have to be pan fried. Which is entirely not the purpose of satay. I was real disappointed about that and the fact that they don’t say that anywhere when you look up the restaurant. I feel that if the restaurant is open at these hours you should be able to get their entire menu or it should be specified. I drove 30 miles from Boca to try this place so that part was disappointing.

As far as the food I thought it was good. Our first appetizer which was the corn cakes were definitely different and very tasty. Our second appetizer was the fish croquettes. They were good but just not really my thing. My dinner was the lamb dish and it was good the rice was delicious the salad was good the presentation was good the sauce on the lamb was very good but the lamb was a bit dry. We tried to get coffee which they did have but when they served it they tried to give us powdered creamer and for me that’s an absolute no-no and that stuff is disgusting. For a restaurant they should never serve powdered creamer in my opinion. So we sent the coffee back.

What are you here again? I probably would. Would I drive 30 miles to eat here again? Probably not. Don’t get me wrong the food was good but I don’t think that it’s five star food the way it is rated. To me it’s more 3 1/2 to 4 star food but I am a food blogger for a living so what’s the licious to some people might just be OK to me. Like I said nothing about this place was bad except the coffee creamer and the fact that the charcoal grill was closed without telling people upfront.

We were very curious to try Indonesian food and this restaurant had some good reviews.

Our server was friendly and tried to deliver good service. We made the mistake of sitting outside and the street noise/music was really a challenge. But the indoor space is small.

Overall I would say "fine" to the food and experience - not great.

It was my first time in Hollywood and did not know what to expect. The restaurant is unassuming and not very big. The food is plentiful and delicious. It's fresh and well prepared with so many ingredients. I would definitely go back because we enjoyed our left overs the next day even more. As a vegetarian, the choices are plenty and does not have the taste of fish like so many Thai restaurants. Prices are reasonable and the avocado dessert was so light and unusual. If you like trying new exotic foods, go to Krakatoa !
