I like this restaurant, but my last visit was slightly disappointing. The salmon in the maki and avocado was fatty and the yellowtail with scallion tasted fishy. Maybe it's not a good idea to go on a Monday...

The menu is extensive and everything is delicious. Ambience good. I choose it as my go to Japanese Restaurant in the UWS.

One of our "go to" Japanese restaurants on the Upper West Side. I usually have sashimi, but this time I had a light meal - mushroom soup and avocado salad. Both were spectacular. One of the nice things about the place is that the noise level at dinner is tolerable. If you are on the Upper West Side, try it out - you won;t be disappointed.

Always a lovely experience at Kouzan. The staff could not be more accommodating. And the sushi is terrific.

Terrible place for a date. The sushi is totally replaceable, the drinking culture is borderline non-existent, and the service was lacking.
