We had a great dinner. We chose "Feast 2" and had more-than-enough food. The chicken tangine was a favorite, as were all of the appetizer choices. Dessert was liquor-covered oranges and strawberries that were perfect after a large meal. We chose a Moroccan white wine which was lovely. The ambiance was intimate and the noise level was not bothersome. The owner checked on our satisfaction a couple of times and explained his method of preserving lemons. The wait staff was attentive and warm. Definitely will go back again.

We had a good time at Kous Kous. The food was good. The only drawbacks were that the table was kind of small for 4 and that we waited quite a long time before we got the food...

Kous Kous has never disappointed with their delicious, flavorful, mouth watering chicken tajin. I just wish their food service didn't take SO long. Other than that, totally worth the wait ;).

First time visit and a long time since having Moroccan food. Excellent food and all enjoyed their choices. The best part , it is in the "hood". We will be back.

Great as usual! Very informative service person and of course the food was absolutely wonderful. Our group of 8 were all very pleased.

We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated promptly and welcomed warmly by the restaurant owner. Our wait was very warm and attentative and put great energy into ensuring our needs were met. He informed us about menu choices and the nights specials.

I loved the cocktail list this place sports on the menu. We both hard a BOGART which was a drink of rum, lemon and muddered mint leave. Paired great with the food. Lamb shank tagine and the moroccan appetizers.

Staff was extremely pleasant, seating us in a location we chose (although the whole party had not yet arrived), and taking our order without waiting for the others. We enjoyed tasty appetizers (and wine, of course). As someone who knows (and prepares) Moroccan food, I give their lamb tagine a superior rating. The bstila, although not served in the traditional way, was tasty. All in all, we can't wait to return with other family members and friends. Parking is very convenient, too. The lot just next door is less expensive than the one farther north near the corner.

Relaxing atmosphere. Very comfortable. Great ambience. Interesting authentic very tasty food.

Only place I know to get good Moroccan food and merguez. Has a couple of good red wines, very limited white choices, none appealing unless you like fruity wines. Bring your own. Pleasant atmosphere, subdued and fabrics muffle the sound.

I was looking for a great place to go for date night with my wife. I must have driven pass kous kous thousands of time and never noticed what a cute place it is. Our dinner was around 5:30 which allowed us to get a couple of items of the happy hour menu. The service was great. They talked us through each item we were thinking about ordering, the good was great and the place is extremely cute and cozy.

Kous Kous is my favorite restaurant. Cosistently wonderful food. Flavorful lamb or chicken tagine. Great service. You'll be happy choosing Kous Kous.

This is an absolsutely lovely restaurant. I've been to Morocco twice and this food is quite authentic, if not even better! The owner, Moumen, is actually from Marrakech and therefore knows firsthand how to create delicious Moroccan cuisine. Also he is a very nice man who can almost always be found at the restaurant and will chat with you about Morocco if you wish! The ambiance is lively and the colors and decor are beautiful. This is truly a gem, and a great place if you are looking for something new and "outside the box."

We recently visited Kous Kous and it was definitely lived up to the hype!

Started our evening with the Moroccan Kiss which was ok, I definitely would try some of their other drinks next time though.

Before our order came out, we were served with complimentary Moroccan bread and a hummus style aioli- both of which were excellent! We also got a small side of spicy pickled carrots.

We ordered the B'stila Roll as an appetizer which almost seemed liked a savory (and yummy) baklava.

Then moved onto our main course:
Chicken Tagine: it was bursting with flavor and the sauce was even better with the couscous on the side.
Merguez: the highlight of our evening- the lamb sausages was beautifully marinated and cooked to perfection!

By the end of the meal, we were so full we barely had room for desserts but there's always a next time since there are way too many dishes on the menu we still want to try!

I went with a group from work, one vegan and two vegetarians - the place was perfect. Kind, friendly and professional service. The food was unique and exciting, flavors not so common and yet very delicious.

This is a very cozy and ambient location. I've never had Moroccan food before, and was pleasantly surprised with my first experience. Get the lamb, whatever the dish is, get the lamb. Their lamb is so tender, so juicy and so melt in your mouth flavorful. I highly recommend this place, it's especially fit for anyone who is looking for good food and an out of the ordinary dining experience. And lastly, a shout out to our waiter whose supremely eloquent and impassioned speech made every dish sound delightful. A bit crowded, but great place over all!

I would say 4.5/5 for both food and ambience. Service was very nice. It was the first time of trying morrocan cuisine so our server explained in details and I felt comfortable. I had such a great time on Sunday night. I brought a bottle of wine and the corkage fee for this day was $10.

wow, what a fabulous meal and great ambiance! really the best meal out we've had in a while. The waitstaff were very attentive and helpful with the menu. The vegetarian options were splendid and they had modifications for the vegans out there. will be taking family and friends from out of town next time!

Every food better than another, My most favorite is the Berberian Tagine. Their drinks are very good too, and my most favorite is the desert rose...

6 of us came for a birthday celebration during the week. We immediately loved the intimate and exotic ambience-unusual for San Diego. We ended up ordering Feasts I and II. Every course was absolutely delicious! We were stuffed or otherwise might have licked the plates! Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. We were extremely happy with our entire experience and will be back!

Great menu. Food exotic. Chicken tagine very special. Ordered the feast for two. Wished the dessert that came with this meal was more inticing than strawberries and orange slices with honey. I expected something fancier. Service was good. Web site more attractive than restaurant itself. Exotic music would have added to the ambience.

Great ambiance! Kous Kous had a great Moroccan vibe, with great music and Casablaca playing in the background. The cocktails we inventive and delicious. We will be coming back soon!

I really enjoyed my trip to Kous Kous! Having been to Morocco, I encouraged my group to try one of the feast meals. It was pretty close to what you would actually eat in Morocco. The drinks are great, and the ambiance is warm and inviting!

Tried this place for the first time and was disappointed. The seats were very uncomfortable and like a few others said we found the food very bland. I have lots of experience with middle eastern food and this was one of the blandest I've had. We tasted no spices at all not even salt. I think perhaps they are catering to American pallets which I find disappointing. I understand there are other people that don't have experience with this type of food, but there are lots of foodies out there that would like to actually taste the spices that the dishes were described to be cooked with. The only thing I thought was good was the rice. Other than that, the Kefta kebob tasted like hamburger and the lamb shank just a shank that needed salt.

We ate at Kous Kous for the third time over the weekend. It was as wonderful as ever. The atmosphere is exotic and romantic, the food delicious and service impeccable. We'll keep coming back:)

Kous Kous is an excellent choice to try something a little different. The owner and staff are exceptionally welcoming. Food and ingredients are meticulously explained to first timers. The array of options is really good. We go when there is no live music etc so it's very low noise level to talk. I did see some big overhead speakers and a keyboard so I wonder if sometimes there is live music. I suspect that would be loud and I wouldn't enjoy it as much if I was trying to carry a conversation. Overall, one of my favorite neighborhood spots!

Food seemed uninspired on a weeknight visit. Berber lamb shank portioning was small for the $20+ pricetag. Along with a number of appetizers and the entree lamb - the flavors seemed muddled or tired and could have used some livening up.

We took a party of 8 for my husband's birthday celebration. Ordered the Moroccan Feast II. Great choice! Lots of really good food but nothing was ever too much. Damian was an awesome host and made everything so easy. Be sure to order the sofa seating for a more relaxed experience!

We cannot in any way fault the food, our waitress or the visual aspects of the restaurant. We had Sea Bass Tangine and the Berber Lamb Shank with an eggplant appetizer: all wonderfully spiced and completely delicious. Loved the films playing on the screen, which only added to the mood.

However the noise level from music was awful. You told us after the fact that we should have moved away from the speakers, but we were early diners and could have been moved as we informed our waitress and the staff immediately that noise level excessive. If the noise wasn't so offensive, might have been funny: Waitress informs staffer, music turned down; then another staffer comes & turns it up. A huge negative to what would have been a 5 star experience.

I'm no connoisseur of middle eastern food, but Kous Kous was a great introduction to Moroccan menus. The appetizers were excellent, especially their sampler. We all had Tangines (both lamb selections - Berber and Fassi) with all licking their lips and delighting in the succulence of the sauces and vegetables served with the lamb. Good bar service, waiters friendly and helpful.

Such a cute little place. Romantic atmosphere, great food, and good service. Definitely will go back again.

Having recently returned from a trip to Morocco where my husband and I fell in love with the country, the people and the food we were delighted to find a real Moroccan restaurant right here at home. The tagines were perfect, the Moroccan bread superb and the service was attentive. We were celebrating my husband's birthday with family including a cranky 22 month old grandson and the staff was most tolerant. This will definitely be one of out "go to" places.

Came in very close to closing time. Our waiter was extremly friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu. Since we were visiting San Diego for the first time, he even recommended other bars and restaurants in the area.

Kous Kous, after two visits, has not yet failed. we had Moroccan Feast 2 which included wonderful starters, a lamb shank and delicious chicken.

Highly recommended.

Since it was Tapas Tuesday, we ordered everything on the Tapas menu. Everything was really good, especially the lamb chops - and I don't like lamb! Next time, I plan to order them in duplicate, or a main course. We'll be back.

The experience was a little disappointing. I'm very familiar with Moroccan food and found the food at Kous Kous lacking in flavor. Actually, to be more precise, the flavor was off. It simply was not well spiced. Also, the rice that was served with the Tagine was not authentic Moroccan. It should have been served with Cous Cous, but if not, then rice cooked the Middle Eastern way. Also, the beer selection was limited and there was nothing on it we liked.
On the plus side, the server was good and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere.

The food tasted quite good and the service was great. My only reservation was the price was kind of high. We got the 2nd Moraccan Feast, which is a pre-set multi-course meal. For $40 a person, I would have expected more variety and even higher quality of food. But overall I was satisfied.
