   WE ARRIVED AT KOSUSHI AT 8:15 ONLY TO FIND THE RESTAURANT COSED. E NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE, NOR WAS THERE ANY NOTICE AT THE RESTAURANT STATING WHY IT WAS CLOSED. IS IT PERMANENTLY CLOSED? WHAT A SHAME, WE LIKED THE RESTAURANT.

   The food here is really, really good. Tasty, beautifully presented. The room is very smart looking. It’s a shame that there aren’t more patrons— the exterior is so forbidding that as neighbors we didn’t realize it was actually open. Highly recommend-it’s much better than its neighbor Kissaki.

   The decor in this place is unique - you’re inside a dome made of a wood grid - but not unpleasant. When we arrived at 7:30 PM on a Saturday evening, not a single table was taken - that was not encouraging. The waiter claimed it doesn’t get busy until 8:00 but by 8:15 exactly 3 tables were taken out of the 50 they have. The food is OK but nothing special. Individual pieces of sushi were priced $10-20 so I doubt you’ll be making a meal of those, but the rest of the menu was reasonably priced. Main problem was that we ordered 4 dishes and the waiter brought all 4 together within 10 minutes - why not, the staff had nothing else to do. So as a result our party of 2 paid $150 for fine dining and were out the door in about 45 minutes - that’s completely unacceptable and calls for serious retraining of their staff. I suppose we could have lingered over a dessert, but nothing about this place made us want to. Likely, enough other people feel the same way that it may no longer be in business by the time you read this review.

    Ordered on this app a new years package that stated - open bar - They tried to limit it to one glass of champagne - had to go to the manager to fix it. They added a bunch of charges on top of the standard gratuity - one of them being a “hospitality tax or fee of some sort” - clearly designed at tourists - issue is I live one block away and go to all the local restaurants so know that’s not typical. Somehow the 400 unlimited became 570.00 at the end. Clearly designed the packages and the structuring of the service to bait in and drive up spend - Net net.. I won’t go back and I’ll be sure to let everyone I know in the area about my experience

    Dear Mr. Walker. We apologize for the confusion about the package you had purchased. Your table was transferred from one server to another and the information was not properly transmitted between them. We are glad that was quickly clarified and you were able to enjoy your open bar experience. It might come to your surprise as a resident of the City of Miami Beach that any restaurant is required to remit resort tax and that is levied at an additional 2% besides regular taxes, totaling 9%. The other restaurants you might be frequenting are probably not complying with that. We are technically unable to add a link for you here but you can find the full information on the website for the City of Miami Beach by using the keywords "resort tax".
