   Very expensive for what it is. Good quality food, but very disappointed in the number of services, and being rushed out in 80 minutes in the context of a 250$ Omakase. We understood at the end why the server was trying to push the extras. A below par Michelin star, to say the least.

   Sublime. Kosaka is a special place for a special dinner. The counter is an oasis of calm perfection, the food is melt-in-your-mouth wonderful, and the service is expert - although it can border just a bit on intrusive. It’s pricy - two dinners with matched saké will get you near to $1000… but the experience is unforgettable.

   The quality and variety of the fish were exceptional, and our dedicated chef was a delight. The sake selection was fantastic. We thought the price was entirely justified, and the experience was just what we wanted.

   I’ve been to quite a few omakase meals in NYC and across the country. This one was nice. Fish was okay. Only 1 or 2 bites made me go “mmmm so good” where normally at an omakase if I’m spending a crazy amount of money almost every bite should be a 10/10. This is BY FAR the most expensive dining experience I’ve had and it just doesn’t compare to others, for example sushi nakazawa is light years better for a cheaper price. If you just want omakase on a whim and don’t care about spending a ridiculous amount of money, you can go here and be satisfied at best.

    I took my wife to this 1 Michelin Star rated restaurant on Valentine's Day. $350 omakase. The waiter asked if we had any dietary restrictions. We explained my wife doesn't eat tuna or raspberries. He said he understood, but that the dessert was raspberry based and he didn't think he had any substitute. Bad answer. Every restaurant has substitutes. If they don't, don't ask about food restrictions. When the sashimi course comes there is tuna in my wife's plate. I politely ask him if he is feeding my wife tuna, he proudly says yes. I remind him about the restriction and he takes it back. This should not happen in a 1 Michelin star restaurant. It gets worse. 1st nigiri course comes and there is yellowtail (a kind of tuna). At this point my wife, who is not one to complain, simply eats it before i can say anything. I am not pleased. Adding insult to injury, next course of nigiri comes and AGAIN there is tuna in her plate. At this point I just trade one of my pieces of sushi for her tuna. I didn't want to make a scene. I felt asking twice was enough. when the check came I paid cash and only left a $75 tip. I was tempted to leave nothing. The waiter did something i consider rather impolite at this point when he came for the payment, he asks if i need change. Something a waiter should not be doing in a fine dining restaurant. I see him at the register and he realizes what a low tip he is getting. comes back asks me if i was sure i didn't need change. He was expecting me to take the change back and add a tip on top of that. I politely said no again. I heard him crumple up my receipt for the dinner. He did not give me a receipt. We quietly left. The next day i called Paul the manager to explain what happened. He made excuse after excuse and didn't offer any remedy. The sushi was good. Not the best. The service was awful. Ruined the dining experience. I will warn people as much as possible about this place. What a waste. Much better places in NYC.

    Our waiter, Park, was excellent! Very friendly, took time to explain things to us, was patient with us and an overall nice man. Yoshi, our Omakase chef, was great! He was so funny, explained the pieces of sushi to us, their origins & gave us tips on how to prepare things ourselves. You can tell he’s very dedicated & he did a great job! Sung, the person I texted back and forth with to confirm our reservation was super friendly & helpful. He was very accommodating and helped us move our seats from a table to the bar. This definitely enhances the experience and I recommend it. The ambiance is stunning and the place was super quiet. Perfect spot for an intimate date! 100/10 would (and will) go back!

    Great food and overall experience. Prices were higher than the published Open Table prices. I asked for a second bottle of sake and received one twice the price as my original. But all in all a great meal.

    There is a $150 cancellation fee per person. They basically force you to dine there and nobody informs you that. Awfully expensive and not worth it.

    I came earlier than the reservation time. The waiter unfriendly asked me to go out to wait and didn’t tell me they have changed my schedule from 7:00 to 7:30. When I went out and came back at 6:55 they told me my schedule was 7:30 and asked me to keep waiting. For the food, one kind of sushi use green onion and ginger, I am 99% sure it’s Cantonese BBQ-style sauce, very salty, and not good with sushi. Two sushi fish were broken, which I guess the fish is not fresh. Anyways, I will not come again and not recommend it.

    Trying to find a reservation for reasonably priced omakase in New York City a few days before proved to be difficult. Yet, we found a side table at Kosaka which we discovered online without recommendation. While we can go into an elaborate review of every aspect of the visit, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and preparation of each dish. However, we had one major complaint, and that was of the staff. I have traveled the globe for business and eaten at every type of restaurant one could think of - from hole-in-the-wall stalls to perfectly manicured Michelin star establishments - and everything in between. It's rare to invisible, but we felt it at Kosaka. The first negative was not being greeted when walking through the door. It set a bad tone and is a direct correlation of lack of respect shown their patrons. The waiter also lacked major personality with their robotic, scripted soft tones. It was more or less, 'Here is your food, eat it, now get out' type of vibe. This is a shame for such a quaint restaurant that serves well prepared thoughtful omakase at a fair price point. I really wish the staff would show their generosity by being welcoming to their patrons. Japan boosts some of the friendliest, politest and considerate people I've ever met in my life - both in their country in the United States. Their level of respect for others really has touched me as a person in my life. The lifelessness of Kosaka's staff is something that needs to be considered when choosing omakase in New York City. It honestly would keep me from coming back and/or recommending it to others. With a little effort to show their appreciation for patrons, this could be a real gem. Thank you for the wonderful, thoughtful meal.

    The sushi was ok but there weren’t that many pieces and the whole thing felt very rushed, as if the staff were trying their hardest to process our meal and get us out for the next customers. Despite having a 5.15 rez, staff told me before we started on the phone that we needed to be quick because there was a reservation at 7…wow thanks. Paid $750 for 2 people.
