Kosaka
KOSAKA provides a unique combination of extraordinary food and an elegant appearance which fully embodies the Japanese Edomae Style.
As a Michelin star chef for the past ten consecutive years, chef Yoshihiko Kousaka is also a traditionalist in his preparation of sushi. He focuses on the seasonal assortment of exotic fishes flown in daily from Japan and sourced locally and he changes his offerings daily based on what is available at the fish market, both domestically and internationally. KOSAKA offers two omakase options: sushi only and sashimi & sushi.

The staff was fantastic and very accommodating for our anniversary. They made it extra special and Chef really is a master at his craft. Love it as would highly recommend.
Best sushi I’ve ever had
Kosaka was outstanding. A beautiful serene setting. Great service staff and great quality food, and seating at the bar enhances the experience.
Nice wine and sake list also.
Will definitely be back.
5 stars best food of my life hands down no question
Great food and excellent Sake. Service was very courteous.
Amazing food and service. The amberjack was life affirming.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. WOW.
Amazing sushi at an amazing place. Small and comfortable, excellent service, excellent pace of service, without being overly "stuffy".
It was very delicious, very expensive and very much worthwhile.
It’s okay but a little bit disappointing for 1 star.
Everything was phenomenal. The service, the people, everything!
Delicious and varied omakase dinner. Service excellent, informative, and friendly. Offers a high-end, traditional experience, without being the least bit intimidating. Lovely place to celebrate a special occasion (and comes with cake!) Adapted to COVID-19 indoor dining elegantly.
This restaurant was closed despite accepting a reservation and our credit card deposit. I could t get a hold of anyone - phone rings to another phone number. Do not book here
Always a pleasure dining in here. The best quality fish with state of art execution in sushi making. Great selection of Sake and wines, too.
Excellent food and wonderful service. The only thing is that if you sit at a table near a group of more than two, the noise can detract from the refinement of the place and the food.
Dope! A bit pricey but worth it. It was my first time seeing female chef at omakase sushi bar and she was the best sushi chef I've ever met in US.
Outstanding food and service
After several time here, Kosaka never disappoints.
Decor was simple elegance. Service was very good and quite attentive but I am surprised their Korean staff could not pronounce some of the Japanese names of the fish and brands of sake properly. Presentation was good. However, quality of the fish was only a little above average so I am disappointed because previous reviews were raving.
Very nice experience with Kosaka
While Omakase was superb and delivered by the esteemed executive chef - Jewel Bako, we found some parts of the meal less than perfect. The experience was top notch and the waiter really made us feel welcome and comfortable. I was put off by the last 2 dishes served before we left. Both the hand roll and the eel were difficult/falling apart when we ate them. The restaurant did begin to fill up but when compared to other top tier sushi places we've experienced in NYC - it was a first.
The omakase was on par with some of the best sushi I had in Japan.
Simply AMAZING!!! It's a little more, but sit AT THE BAR. To watch the dishes being made it worth the extra.
Truly an amazing omakase experience that stood out above others. Each course was unique, memorable and thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well as knowledgeable. I highly recommended diners to give this gem a try.
Quite simply one of the best if not the best omekase sushi restaurants in nyc
The quality sushi we received for the price was the absolute best value out of all Omakase places I’ve tried in NYC. Service was great and attention to detail didn’t skip a beat. The only part of the experience i wish we saw more of, was if the chef was a little more engaging and went into further detail on what we were about to eat. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends and will certainly be back.
One word - extraordinary.
Dining at Kodak's was easily the single greatest dining experience of our lives. The quality and care of the meal was exceptional. The best food I've ever eaten. Well worth the money for what was truly was an unforgetable and priceless experience.
The food is delicious. The service lacks any sense of hospitality whatsoever.
Our waiter was constantly looking at his watch. It is a small space where you are going to spend close to 1 k for two people if you have sake. I am used to nyc waiters moonlighting - being rude - but for 1 K - they should be trained in welcoming behavior.
There was only one pleasant person on the wait staff.
No one smiled. It was Christmas day.
We told a waitress we wanted to finish our bottle of sake. After spending almost a thousand dollars the waitress looked at the amount of sake that was left and - and said she could pack it to go. In other words - you two people - hand over one k and leave. There was plenty of time until the next seating.
A michelin star should mean warm hosoitable service not just achievement in cooking.
I was there for Christmas Eve with my parents. And it was one of the best omakase I have had in the city!
Attentive service. Outstanding fish, flavor and rice. Sake selections awesome. Experienced chefs executing their craft with great fish.
Incredible omakase experience
Everything was great aside from the table seating. Stared at a wall for 2 hours. Felt like I was eating in a closet.
For the price of the dinner and the quality of the sushi I would not return. Some pieces of fish were mushy. Some pieces of sushi was not shaped properly ... the sushi rice pretty much fell apart the moment I tried to pick it up. Take your money to other omakase restaurants in the city.
Loved everything about it - but it could hav been somewhat quieter...
THANK YOU!
Outstanding Service sets this apart, but similar omakase menu and flavor can be found for less.
Reservation confirmation texts are done by a living human and have a wonderful personal touch.
Chefs Are descriptive and have delightful character.
Ambience is more quaint then yasuda but still, you know..
I’d recommend if you like omakase and the intimacy of the experience
Expensive, but (slightly) cheaper option for top of the line Omasake. Definitely an under the radar spot amidst well known Omasake restaurants in NYC. Fantastic service, fantastic sushi. Sit at the bar if you can.
I've been eating top quality sushi for over 40 years, both in the U.S. and Japan. Kosaka is right up there with the very best. Fish comes from the best sources, including overnight from Japan. Ginger and wasabi are made in house. Service is thoughtful and caring. Highest recommendation.
This was an absolutely wonderful dining experience. Came here for the hokkaido uni as a birthday celebration- delighted to be sat at the bar. thoroughly enjoy dining here. The sushi chef was so lovely; her skills were pleasant to watch, it was like an artist making her creation. She is really skillful. Each piece was seriously an art piece to eat! Everything was thoughtfully planned, soothing, and it was just a really enjoyable dining experience. It was a nice relaxing way to unwind from a busy week. I had one slight issue which I also had in japan. There is one seafood item that I'm slightly allergic to, but I don't know what it is. However, I knew that coming in- it was well worth it. (My lip started to swell-not so bad but it freaked me out a little again MY fault IT was still worth it)- and they did ask me if I'm allergic to anything prior. Despite that, it was a really wonderful dining experience. Thank you for all the great effort.
Excellent omakase
