We live very close to Komodo and visit regularly. The location and setting is great and the food is incredible... especially the Peking duck... some of the best ive ever tried.. including in China!
Unfortunately Komodo does suffer from fairly poor service. It starts with the concierge girls who don't really seem to know whats going on. We visited with a disabled family member who has trouble walking. We arrived at our reservation time but were made to wait for 10minutes. When we went to check what was going on the girl said she 'couldn't find us' despite the fact we were standing right in front of her.
During dinner, the service was very slow and we had to get up at least 5 times to get our waiter. We were given 5 pancakes with the $100 Peking duck for five people. We asked for more, waited 10minutes, then had to go and find a waiter to get more pancakes... it tainted what is an amazing dish and it wasn't what you expect when you pay $100 for a duck.
Finally, we ordered another bottle of wine when we ordered our deserts. We ate the deserts and then about 10minutes after a waiter came over with our bottle. We declined it as we wanted it with the desert and the waiter was rather rude about the situation.
Definitely worth a visit. Food and ambiance are great, just don't hold your breath for the service you would expect for this price tag
Great service, food and love the ambience
Food was delicious as it has been before. We had reservations at 6 and they were still setting up bar and other areas. They wanted to seat us at the first table by the entrance where there was the most traffic. We chose another table which still turned out to have a lot of traffic back and forth by the bar outside. Server thought someone else took our order so
communication wasn’t good. Server missed a dish, which we actually didn’t mind in the end because we had enough food.
All this said, I love the atmosphere and the food and we know next time not to sit in an aisle where there is traffic. We will be back.
Horrible. We arrived 5
min before the reservation time. The hostess told us we would wait for about 10 min. But we wait for more than 30min and our table was not ready yet. So we decided leave. Unacceptable!
Wow we were amazed at our totally incredible experience- from arrival, through dinner and after!! Our server Benoit was beyond fantastic- I just dined a few days ago at a 3 Star Michelin restaurant and have been to many... Benoit was the best server I’ve ever had at any restaurant ever. He is fabulous and incredible- he made our meal so fun- and he knew the menu perfectly. My wife needed gluten- free and he scored every dish with total perfection and zero trouble. This was rare and I was so so impressed!! The ambiance, the decor of the restaurant - all fabulous... the food was totally incredibly delicious beyond what we ever even imagined! Our server was so fun, so kind, so knowledgeable- just phenomenal. The food- every single dish-,’ was unique and beautiful- but so delicious too! This restaurant is better than any of the reviews and I’d say beyond the 5 stars I gave it. Komodo is an experience never to be forgotten. We went with our daughter & wanted a cool, fun, awesome place- and we got it in Komodo- it’s beyond awesome!! Go here- you will not ever forget it!!! I can’t wait to go back!!
They even catered to our dietary restrictions. So happy with everything.
We had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was fantastic! It was cooked to perfection and the flavors with truffle oil worked perfectly. We also enjoyed the duck lettuce wraps for an appetizer.
OVERPRICED AWFUL FOOD WITH MEDIOCRE SERVICE. Food tasted terrible and we were sat 20 minutes after our reservation. Even the table next to me sent food back!
Komodo is always a great place. Very hip and trendy and it does get crowded. Outside seating area is really pretty and the service staff is always attentive.
We loved the experience. We sat outside in the patio area. I would highly recommend. It was a great environment. The food was excellent and the service was great. We will come back.
We were having dinner for my birthday and we spent a lot of money and the hostess came to the table and asked us to get up because she needed the table. I never write reviews but this place is overpriced , food is blah, and the crowd is typical miami. Go somewhere else if you want to east well and dine with class.
Great food, love the place
Mucho tiempo de espera hasta que nos sentaron
Server forgot to bring one and plate and confused another one. Kind of cocky too.
Good food and great service!!! Didn’t like the crowd but is miami everyone have the right to be there... didn’t like the tip included either
Horrible. Everyone who makes a reservation will need to wait at least an hour before being seated. Hostesses of course are very entitled. The food portions are the size of my hand. Drinks are 18 dollars. Also tip is already included in your bill so they don’t really care if you like the service or not.
They forgot to put our order in, therefore, it took forever to get food.
I’ve been a “posting” foodie for roughly 🤔 eight years. And only one other time (& that was in Las Vegas),have I had the experience of a waiter magnanimously usurp & unsettle my experience. The meal was nicely but not extraordinarily flavorful. Thought prices a bit too high, but not discouragingly so. BUT ! The petulant, arrogant, fashionably bored, disinterested & dismissive waiter 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 . It was as though we should’ve groveled in his greatness.
If that’s acceptable customer service here, 1,000,000% guarantee they’ll NEVER see our $’s again . Certainly one of those instances were the tip added on , grated on me.
Neo was awesome. Knew the menu very well. Great customer service.
Fantastic food as usual and always a great vibe going on in the tree house area
Keven P. Was great. Atmosphere was awesome. Would definitely recommend and go back.
Overall, the food was amazing.
It seemed like Friday nights are busier than usual but there seemed to be a shortage of waiters. The food took extremely long to come out and it also came out at odd intervals.
Other than that, it was a great night.
Beautiful decor and ambiance. Would have given the restaurant 5 stars except for the cost of the meal relative to the food we ordered. We were a party of 4. We ordered 5 small plates, 2 of the appetizers had to be doubled since they only served 2. Everything was delicious! The sea bass skewers are a must. Three of us ordered large plates, and we ordered 2 sides. While we enjoyed everything we ordered, I we didn’t think it was worth $300.
Always a great experience at Komodo!
The waiter did not inform us there was a service charge added (18%)for 5 guests, my fault for not checking... so when I gave him a cash tip he gladly accepted it. When I discovered the service charge and asked for it back... he was less than thrilled...
Beautiful. Great service. Food just ok
Great food and service. Love this place. Highly recommend.
Had reservation and waited almost two hours to be seated. However, the food and drinks made up for it.
Waited for more than an hour for a table with reservation. Did not like the food. It wasn’t good and def not worth the money. Go somewhere else. To much hype.
My husband and I were celebrating my birthday by spending the weekend in Downtown Miami. We decided to have dinner at Komodo on our second night. Komodo definitely didn't disappoint. The food was delicious! We had shared a few appetizers tapas style which were amazing, one of them was a bit pricey for what you got (Tacos) but despite that, it was very tasty. For our main course my husband ordered their famous Peking duck which was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I had ordered two rolls of sushi that were very good as well. We will definitely be coming back when we are in the area and highly recommend it to anyone considering visiting Komodo.
We had to wait 1 hour in spite of made a reservation.
Birthday of a couple, Great Night!!
I can't understand why the place is so busy. Yes, the decor is attractive but the service is friendly but very slow (took us 15 minutes to get drinks) and they were going to take away our plates before we got the final dish. Food is mediocre and it's not cheap. Won't go back.
Awesome food and drink.
Great atmosphere, creative cuisine, fusion of asian and meat
Expensive but delicious! Great food and beautiful restaurant. $98 duck is worth every penny. Love the calamari salad too. Desserts are not that spectacular. Go for the food but keep your expectations low on service and value. Servers are snooty and seem under pressure. Still loved the food!
Overall great experience. The service was amazing. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. Very romantic environment outside. Worth every dollar I spent. A MUST GO!
Service good, food tasty . One should specify exactly how you want to receive your portion if you order Peking duck
The food was good but too salty due to an intense use of soy sauce in each dish. Overall an ok restaurant but a little expensive in terms of price/quality.
It was a very nice dinner for me and my friend. Good was nice, and the service was great.
