Koi Ratings and Reviews
I have to say I’m a bit disappointed.. we came once few years ago and it was very expensive and we dine out a lot and spend money. We decided to come back and it was the same. The drinks are much smalller then your average drink, 3 sips and we were done, usually 2 margaritas and I’m buzzed, had 4 and I was fine. Sushi was really goood but all the beer dishes we got were below average and expensive. $400 and left hungry. Service was good. Prefer katana any day.
I made a reservation, they called and confirmed my reservation and I let them know that we were celebrating my dads birthday. I asked them to do something special. When I got there they couldn’t find my reservation. I had to talk to 3 different people who were too preoccupied with other things before confirming my reservation (rude, poor customer service). Finally got seated and the waitress was at least helpful but they didn’t do anything special for my dad’s birthday despite my request over the phone. Very disappointed. For what I paid, was expecting a decent night. Didn’t get that. Won’t be coming here for special occasions next time. What a disappointment.
As visitors to LA, Koi was recommended to us by a local. It did not fail to impress with its chic but relaxed ambiance and its wonderful food. Service was top-notch, too, with a charming server who was on-point without being intrusive. Even the cocktails were exciting (Try their "Lychee Heat" creation). We selected a series of hand rolls and each one was tastier than the last. We could not have enjoyed the evening more. You cannot go wrong with a meal at Koi.
Service was excellent food was good but drinks were TERRIBLE which really killed it. I think a place like this should at least have decent drinks after sending back one round we had another round that was just bad not terrible. A place with such good food deserves better cocktails.
They need to change their manager( Rickie S). I've never experienced such terrible and unprofessional service. We spent over $400 to be treated terribly. He was hostile, yelled at our table and completely ruined my Bday night. It's really a shame because this was our go to spot but we definitely won't be returning.
Took my clients here, love this place. However, they were able to seat half of our party during our reservation time. The host ended up seating walk ins before us, I mentioned something and they didn't say a word. The rest of the party wasn't seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time.
The manager ended up coming in and personally seating us and taking care of us.
Food was great as usual.
An LA native recommended Koi to me when I told her my husband and I were considering Mr. Chow. She said she thought Koi is better at this time. We went in April (2017) and I just returned this month (August) with my daughter. The salmon carpaccio is lovely, the rib eye bites satisfy greatly when you need more than fish. My daughter ordered a roll of some kind and was very happy. Beautifully decorated space, very nice cocktail list, and the service is spot on.
What a wonderful evening the food was delicious, loved the Shrimp Tempura and our waitress Noel was a gem, friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
Our only comment is that the bussing staff while pleasant need more training....they tend to slosh the water into the glass and it spills on the table and they start to clear the table before we all have finished eating....they all seem to be in a hurry/frantic....does not add to the ambience of the evening.
thank so much, we will be back
The service was very good. The food was excellent. I had remembered having 'Honey Roll' in the past and although it was no longer on the menu, our server offered to have them make it for us and said others still request that dish and they would be happy to do it. Everything we tried (no main dishes, all small dishes for more variety) was very good (including one steak choice). The wine we ordered was a white from Oregon $98 and very nice. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
