Koi - New York
Famous for its unique and mouth-watering interpretation of Japanese cuisine. Upscale Japanese fare is given a jolt of new life through an innovative use of ingredients, resulting in refreshing and exciting flavor combinations. Crispy Rice with Spice Tuna, an addictive version of the classic spicy tuna roll, featuring warm grilled rice topped with a thick layer of cool, savory tuna. Baked Crab Roll, for which succulent fresh crabmeat is wrapped in a thin rice crepe paper dotted with sesame seeds and baked to perfection. Hamachi Fusion with Soy-Citrus and Truffle Essence all artfully plated by Koi’s skilled culinary team.
This place never disappoints. Soooo good! Crispy rice koi tuna, northern lights roll, sea bass, short ribs buns and lemon blueberry pudding this time. On point!!
Food as always was delicious. The foie gras on tuna with truffle was outstanding. The avocado and tuna on rice crackers was very good but I recommend thinner crackers. The service was good but waiter made me feel rushed a little yet the restaurant was not that busy. The pear cocktail was very very good
We were a set of 6 and somewhat could use a bit more elbow room. Other than that the food was great.
Dinner with the family in NYC
Second time here and the food was amazing, staff was amazing. Overall a great experience.
Referred by my friend Lauren who couldn’t stop raving about Koi. Comes here with her cousin regularly, and loves all the dishes, especially the crispy spinach. Felt I had to come see for myself! She’s right! Just amazing - thankyou Koi, so much better than Sushi Seki!
Food, service, visual decor excellent. Prices steep. Seating not very good. Could barely hear my partner speak. Too damn loud.
Always good, very loud but it’s NY it’s supposed to be
Never disappoints! This is our “go to” whenever we are in the city for a show or concert! LOVE!
Presentation and freshness of food was impeccable! Would highly recommend !
Delicious and great environment! Early dinner before a show and it was a great spot in a great location.
The food was okay, but the cost was way too high for something so ordinary. We paid over a hundred dollars and left feeling completely unsatisfied.
The appetizer of spicy tuna on crispy rice was delicious. I also tried the Miso Bronzed Black Cod, which was oily and more on the rare side. The restaurant was very dark, and I couldn't read the menu and needed to use my phone as did others in the restaurant. The problem with that was that it was disruptive every time someone had to light up their phone. The lineup of tables with way too close together and everyone struggled to get in and out of their seat.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city - also, one of the best services I've ever had. The staff is so professional and educated on the food and beverages they have in stock it's amazing.
Koi used to be a quiet hotel restaurant with great ambience. Now it’s become a loud touristy place where there is barely a dress code. Would not go back.
Great from start to finish. The service and food was impeccable!
10 years between visits can change a lot. Not too impressed by the qualtiy of the sushi and the ambiance lest something to be desired. Prob won't be bad.
Dine here all the time and never disappointed. My favorite go-to restaurant.
We really liked it! The food was delicious! And everything, the place and the service.
Delicious dinner-highly recommend the crispy rice appetizer. Also got the Northern Lights roll-very good. Cool vibes. Fake bamboo, slightly cheesy, but overall well-designed interior. I would go back! Thanks. :-)
Wonderful! Crispy Rice was spectacular!
Everything is wonderful here except the price. But, even so, we will be back. Sushi is amazing.
Lovely setting and although it’s on the pricier side it’s still good value for money. The black cod portion size was excellent and tasted delicious!
Good food; good seevice
Food is always good but it’s very loud inside. Hard to have conversations.
Food was excellent
Great presentation we will return
stupidly over priced would not recommend going here
Perfect food all the time. I have never been disappointed with the food at Koi. This time, I felt that the short ribs were not as soft as usual. Everything else was incredibly delicious.
My son said this was the best Japanese food he’s ever had. As a “new” sushi lover, we’ve visited many restaurants not So Florida over recent years, so I wanted to experiences NYC sushi. We were staying at Bryant Park Hotel, do it was super convenient—but the food and service were so outstanding I’d travel here from elsewhere in the city.
While it’s pricey, the food is excellent and the sauces are all really good. We ordered many small plates to share and loved everything we ordered. Highly recommend!
Beautiful atmosphere, yet food seemed overpriced for what was served. Sushi rolls and sashimi was below average, yet seared tuna plate was amazing. Although ambiance was very nice inside and out, probably would not return unfortunately.
Food acceptable but rather mediocre. Flavors were just not there.
Everything was amazing! Food was fresh and delicious! We had a 7pm show and a 5:30 reservation and my husband and I ate and enjoyed every bite without feeling rushed! Instead of talking about the show, which was good too, we spent the remainder of the night and the next morning talking about the food! Again....Amazing!!!
Delicious! Noise level is BAD at lunchtime...but the food is fabulous. Our service was great, as well.
The waiter wasn’t very hospitable, although everything else was great!
We LOVE Koi and go whenever we are in NYC.
Restaurant for Sushi is pretty good.
Personally I have had better sushi in Montreal Uni Sushi in Candiac, Sogen Sushi in Laprairie Quebec and Osaka Sushi Lima Peru.
But for New York it was the best Sushi perhaps even better then Niro Sushi.
The service was great, but the food at Koi was just “meh”. Nothing extraordinary. Very pedestrian. The salmon carpaccio was the standout favorite.
Delicious, but a bit overpriced, even for NYC. The waitress talked a bit too much about modifying portions, like how many pieces came in an order of something. We weren't even interested in that. And then when we did place our order she told us 5 would come in the appetizer and asked if we were fine with that fighting over the 5th. We didn't really care, especially because I was the one who wanted it and my husband was getting sushi, but then there were only 4 and the price wasn't altered. We didn't say anything was because it was a really minor issue, but it was still odd.
Just wonderful. For the moment we entered through the entire meal. Service was exceptional
