Koa's Seaside Grill Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went to Koa's in Maui for brunch and it was great! They serve breakfast until 1pm and since we were there after 11, we had the option of breakfast or lunch items. I got the omelette and she had the jerk chicken bowl. Both were great, and the cherry on top is the view!! You are right on the water and it's beautiful. Highly recommended to anyone in Lahaina!
Went for sunset dinner with husband and 2 teenagers. Sat on the rooftop on the water’s edge and watched the tide come in. Beautiful pictures of sunset over Lanai island. I had fish of the day. Hubby had surf and turf, kids had shrimp and filet separately. EVERYTHING about the night was fantastic fr food quality to flavors to service. We walked along Front St after dinner and got Shave Ice along the way. Great location.
Our friends brought us here for dinner. The meal and service were exceptional. Best onion rings we have ever eaten. We loved it so much we cancelled our reservations at another restaurant to come back. The sunset view from the upper deck is not to be missed. Toni provided exceptional service and made our evening extra special. When the owner found out we came back and had cancelled our other dinner plans he thanked us with a free dessert. Well done Koa’s!!
Food was excellent! The rooftop has a beautiful view. The service was slow. Our server had SO many tables. I felt bad for her. We were in no rush but by the end my 7 yr old son was falling asleep at the table and she kept having to wait on tables before she could run our card. Regardless I would go back.
Overall 4.5. This place is very good. Service was perfect. Food was good to amazing as we all ordered different items and shared. Waygu burger great. All the fish was really really good. Short rib was good but pretty bland. Salads and sides well above average. I would go back in a heartbeat. Right on the water on Front St.
The food took forever to come to the table and then it was marginal to say the least! The omelet was flat, had been prepared on a greasy dirty pan so was marked, cheese was not melted, and the bacon was very greasy! And then we got sick from it! Tables were dirty. Waitress was very confused during service and then gave our check to another table. This meal cost us $100!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!
The hostess, Nicole, was delightful. We had a dinner reservation requesting a certain table, and she made it happen. We also knew that the table might not be available, but Koa’s tries to do as much as possible for those who make reservations. Our server, whom we have had the luck to have before, was excellent. My husband had the chicken, which was very good, and I had the Waygu (Wagyu???) burger that is the best on the island. I call it the “Way GOOD burger.” Koa’s is in the middle of an ownership change, and I hope that the prices do not increase exorbitantly, as it is slated to become more “upscale.” This is Lahaina, after all, and things are supposed to be relaxed and full of aloha.
My husband and I went early for happy hour and met an amazing waitress named Megan. We had fresh Poke which was melt in your mouth delicious! Megan was very attentive and shared some info about the island. I had the ahi tuna with wasabi mash and it was fantastic! My husband had the catch of the day which was Mahi mahi and his was also top notch. We finished our meal with dessert. I was pleased with our service and the attentiveness from not only our waitress but the manager as well. Would love to come back!
An excellent choice for breakfast on the water. The location has both downstairs and upstairs seating right on the water with stunning vantage overlooking the coast. Breakfast was delicious, fresh baked biscuits and house made jam, a full bar and fresh squeezed juices. The crab cake eggs Benedict special was plated beautifully with eggs poached perfectly to order.
What a great find. This was our first experience at KOA and we couldn't be happier with the results. The ambiance was outstanding. There's nothing like the Pacific Ocean to enhance a dining experience. The food was stellar. Our first breakfast (we ended up coming two more times during our vacation) was KOA's take on LocoMoco. Wagyu beef over fried rice with an in house made brown sauce was over the top (and the biscuit with in house made strawberry jam was delicious). The service was on point. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Overall a very enjoyable dining experience. Recommend to all.
Mediocre fish was served on a purple blob of sweet potatoes...quite unappealing. The waiter was unable to help with food allergy issues, was inattentive and not very professional. I always like to be asked, "Are you done working on that?" at the end of a meal. Not the fine dining we expected. The sunset was breathtaking.
Pass through the Christmas and Jewelry stores into a true waterfront restaurant. We had early reservations and were seated waterside at a great table. Our server, Adam is one of the professionals in the business, great timing, good on explaining things in the menu, good call backs, though I did have to pour our own wine after his first pour. His backup could have been sharper with more water and more timely clearing of empty plates. We ordered a Ferrari Carano Chardonnay which was promptly and properly served with a really cold ice bucket. My wife had the Beet Salad which, along with every dish of the evening, was beautifully and artistically prepared. The chef is a true artist in food preparation. I had the wedge and requested 1000 Island versus blue cheese; which, though they didn't have on the menu, the chef graciously prepared. Unfortunately, he used a Sriracha recipe and it was so hot I couldn't eat but a few bites. When the server cleared my wife's empty plate, he took no note of that fact and failed to inquire about the barely touched Salad. Our entrees arrived, my wife having the scallop plate and I had the Miso Ginger King Salmon. The cornmeal rice cake was extraordinary and the large portion of salmon was perfectly MR. My wife loved the scallops and especially liked the corn fritters. Adam stopped by to check our meals and I explained that I was unable to eat the salad; but as he had no idea how little was eaten, it showed up on the bill. No big deal; but a notch below good coordination between a server and his backups. Deserts looked great; but we were stuffed and passed. Worth a repeat for sure.
For Sunday brunch, we reserved a table up on the top deck, where we had a wonderful view of the ocean, molokini, lanai, and molokai. The omelets and macadamia nut pancakes were outstanding, as was Scott, our waiter. POG mimosas were tasty! One of the best moments of our trip, eating good food and hanging out with family.
This was perhaps the worst restaurant we've ever been to on Maui, and we've been coming for over 30 years.
The waiter was obnoxious and oblivious; the food was worse. The shrimp was not cooked and we had to return the dish. The food was lifeless.
Two different parties at a table over actually got up and left before ordering.
Run away from this place fast; there are plenty of quality restaurants on Maui, and this isn't one of them.
