Knife Steakhouse - Plano

Food was outstanding. Service was a little slow. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We sat at the counter which was fun to watch the kitchen. Next time we'll have to get the mac and cheese. We watched them make it for an hour and a half.
Knife is the perfect place for a special occasion. The service is extraordinary. The menu has many great options. We had the octopus appetizer. Best appetizer ever. The wine list is expansive and the been is outstanding. You will really feel appreciated and taken care of as if dining at the home of a good friend.
It was the worst meal for the price point I have ever experienced. Way over rated!
Excellent food but service was slow
First time here. Won’t be back. Not impressed. Pricing of a fine dining steakhouse, but sadly service is better at a fast food place.
The service was AWFUL. They were out of 3 things listed on their menu that we asked for (out of New York strip, brussel sprouts, and weller’s whiskey- all listed on their menu). Several servers wore purple medical gloves (very weird) and seemed to all be literally running around which gave it a chaotic, unwelcoming and loud ambiance. When you price your menu equal to other fine dining places (Ruths Chris and Silverfox for example), you better be prepared to offer a great dining experience like you get at these other places. Sadly, we were very disappointed with everything except the steak was cooked to temperature as ordered. Beyond that, it left us wanting to go back to our other high end steakhouses. Sorry for such a negative review:(
Got sat at the the kitchen bar which basicly ruined the experience, the food was really good for the most part. My filet mignon was average, and not what i wanted but they had run out of NY strips at 645 on a Friday, but the appetizer and salads and sides were great. Drinks were well done. The server was pleasant enough and a tad inattentive, but due to loud atmosphere had trouble hearing us. Plus because we were at this bar it was tough for them to serve us pleasantly and comfortably. I am not paying$200+ to eat at a kitchen bar and that just left a bad taste in my mouth. Doubt we return too many other places with better ambience and etc.
Honestly, Knife was a big let down. The service was good but the waiter was busy which I get on a holiday. The food was the worst though. We ordered the bacon tasting and even though all of the bacons don’t come crispy we asked them to cook them slightly longer because my husband won’t eat floppy bacon. They still brought out floppy bacon. I sent back a wagyu ribeye that was dry aged. I expected it to be incredibly tender and flavorful. It wasn’t. It was dry, and lacked any luster. The Mac n cheese was enjoyable. My steak was replaced by a filet medium rare that came out cooked medium well but I didn’t have time to send it back again because we had a sitter at home. I wouldn’t recommend it based on the food but the service was pretty decent.
This feels like a Mall restaurant. Ambience is not good. Bad acoustics so noise is bad. Not cozy at all. Food is really good but overpriced. Service is ok but should be better for an expensive restaurant. The valet guy was more attentive actually! I bought a $28 glass of wine and it was served in a stemless glass. I asked for a stem and was told that those glasses only come with a bottle. The server was nice enough to bend the rule but i thought that was a really bad rule to begin with.
I will not be going back. I will go to Del Frisco instead.
Great steaks in a modern atmosphere. Very professional staff.
Our dinner was delicious, the steak ideal, service attentive and upbeat. My only complaint is that the bread offered was cold. I don't mean not warm, I mean cold! At $200 for dinner for two, it is expected that all elements of the food be top quality. If serving sour dough, it is not too much to anticipate a hot slice of high quality sour dough with warm butter to savor.
We previously had dinner at Knife in Dallas and the food was absolutely delicious. We were less then impressed with the food and service at the Plano location. Our steak did not have much favor and we had to wait on our drinks. I had higher expectations based on our previous experience at the Dallas location and not to mention the price you are paying. If we return it will be at the Dallas location.
Best steak I've ever eaten
Great location for us .. love to pop in last minute for wine, steak tartare at minimum ... great service
Knife Plano was an extreme let down. We made our reservation in advance and listed it as a special occasion. We were seated on a first come, first seated basis and ended up with a table in a busy section right in the middle of the waitstaff's foot traffic. We complained about the location and noise level but was told they were busy and booked. However, moments later a couple who "walked in" with no reservation was able to be seated in the private dining area because of the noise level! What is the point of making a reservation if the choice of table isn't considered in the process? The table and chairs were very uncomfortable, not fine dining quality, no where to put our purses (they ended up on the floor), and we could barely hear each other. We weren't thrilled with their open kitchen dining concept either, almost like a sushi bar. We have been to Knife in Dallas for a few family events and have always been extremely satisfied. We were extremely disappointed with Knife Plano. It is a fast food version of the original, not a fine dining concept and definitely not worth dropping $400! Also, be warned, the entire menu is NOT served at Plano like in Dallas and definitely NOT the same quality.
I was very impressed with everything with the Knife. The food, service, atmosphere were excellent. The staff were all friendly. Excellent place to eat.
Sevice was good. Steak was good. Cooks are not great
We went to Knife because a friend of ours recommended the dry aged ribeye. We went there with high expectations and we were not disappointed! We had the 45 day aged ribeye and it was fantastic! Nothing like we tasted before. Great tender juicy meat. I recommend it for meat lovers!
It's on the more expensive side compared to other steak houses, but it is worth it!
We also had a grapefruit panacota desert, which was very good.
We were a party of 4. Both parties ordered the 34oz 240 day dry aged bone-in-ribeyes for 2. When delivered one of the ribeyes looked like 34oz however the other looked at least half the size of the first one. We confirmed with the waiter that they were both supposed to be identical and he said they were, however when he looked at them he could visually see a huge difference in size. He then said “well it’s possible the chef sliced the ribeyes and put more on one plate than the other. In either case we were not pleased with the price point compared to the actual steak we were served. There were also a couple of smaller issues with drink refills and appetizer plates. The flavor of steak was great but we will probably frequent some of our other favorite steak houses in the DFW area.
Disappointed. Had high expectations but KNIFE did not deliver. Entrees were delayed more than an hour after the salads/appetizers. Nice job with service recovery, however - free deserts. Too many other choices near Legacy West. Will not likely return or recommend.
The food was fabulous as was the service. When the bill arrived was pleasantly surprised at the amount. Will definitely go back.
ONLY complaint. Pretty loud. We saw quite a few kids which shocked us but, they were all very well behaved. Some guests were dressed down quite a bit, like T-shirt’s and sneakers but not many. Music was good, nice variety. Drink menu was good, a lot of choices. Service was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was excellent. Sides were great, especially the carrots and squash. Steak was perfect. Complimentary sweets at the end. They were able to seat us earlier than our reservation, even for a busy Saturday night. Highly recommended for a higher end ($) date night.
We went there for date night. The 45-day aged ribeye was FANTASTIC. The wait staff was also very attentive. We will definitely be back.
The hamburger was so tiny and looked like it was served on a Kroger bun. No lettuce. $16👎🏻
$40 for ice tea and a very very simple burger with basic bread and no tomatoes lettuce etc... it’s price gauging. I don’t mind paying high price for a hamburger on a fancy restaurant but it needs to be amazing.
Knife is one of my favorite restaurants. As usual the food was outstanding 5+. There were four of us and for main courses we had the Maya Shrimp, two of us had the tuna with three salsas and the skirt steak. Everyone agreed that their meals were terrific. I had the tuna with three salsas and this was the best tuna I have had a restaurant. My wife also said the Maya Shrimp were the best she has had in a long time. The food at Knife is impeccable as this is the fourth time we have been there (the new Plano facility) and have always been very happy with our meal. The last time I went I shared the pig's head with a friend and it was delicious. Try it - you'll love it.
Unfortunately, the service was slow. We waited just over 1/2 hour between our salads and the main courses. This is a new restaurant and is a fairly good size. Every table was filled while we were there and one of our friends said that she thought the restaurant was "slammed (more than expected)." However, when we complained, the manager was most gracious and didn't ignore the problem. They were very apologetic and provided us with three complimentary desserts and they also were over the top.
My final word is that we will definitely go there again because the food is so good and the menu is most interesting. We would recommend Knife to our friends. I think they will have the bugs worked out in a very reasonable amount of time and the service will be snappy as it is at the Mockingbird facility.
Ordered Charcuterie, Cesar Salad, 45 Day Akaushi Ribeye, and avacado fries. Everything was amazing! Servers very attentive!
We started off with drinks- for me, a perfectly made Manhattan. Dinner began with beef tartare- huge serving size with a quail egg yolk on top. Excellent- very “beefy”. The onion rings are always good too. We split the 45 day Akaushu rib eye- best steak I’ve ever had! Great service from Juan Carlos!
This was our first time at this restaurant. The steak was one of the best we've ever had. The wine list was good. This location is fairly close to our house, so it's not a hardship to get to. The one thing that was a negative was that we could hardly talk among ourselves because the noise level was so loud. As we were leaving my sister-in-law and I found the bathrooms (which were odd) we discovered the glassed in room. Next time we'll ask to sit there.
Due to the traffic heading north out of Dallas, we arrived about 15 mins late for our reservation. We'd called en route and informed the restaurant. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. A shout out here to the somm who helped make our dining experience quite pleasurable. After dining we took advantage of the ability to take an after dinner Cognac and cigar to the outdoor dining area. All in all, an excellent evening. When we're next in Dallas, we'll definitely return. Highly recommended.
Amazing food and the service is beyond anything I have ever seen. If you haven’t had the privilege of eating at Knife in Plano, then I highly recommend you try it! Ohh and the food? WOW! It’s to die for!! I can’t wait to go back! Thank you to the staff at Knife for making my night and dinner amazing!!!
The beef tartare came out a grayish color, we were told it was the lighting.
Ok we’ll roll with it. Ordered the 100 day aged bone in rib eye. Cooked chefs recommendation Medium Rare
Waiter brings it, completely over cooked. Luckily sommelier said something and sent it back.
Owner head chef was too busy being insta famous to even acknowledge how they screwed up.
This is hands down the best Steakhouse in the DFW area. The service is awesome, and the GM and Owners know how to treat the patrons. It's the overall experience that makes Knife Plano special. Plus, if you like dry aged steak, go to Knife, it's all done in house, and there's nothing in the DFW area that compares.
Food & service are impeccable! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Loved the food and beautiful restaurant! Our service was a little slow to get entree and then dessert. We skipped dessert for that reason. All the food was amazing and I would recommend it.
We wanted to try this as they are cooking steaks from 44 Farms that I wanted to try. We were impressed with the quality of the steak but serving portions seemed slightly smaller than the menu had indicated.
We came here for New Year’s Eve and it was perfect for the occasion. Dinner was delicious!
My husband had the old school filet and it was cooked perfectly. I decided to try something a little different and had the king crab scampi and it did not disappoint! I was blown away by how delicious that crab dish was. We shared the roasted mushrooms and Mac and cheese as sides. I was a little disappointed in the Mac and cheese as it was shockingly bland!
For dessert we had the “chocolate and coffee” and “pumpkin and cranberry”. They were both outstanding!
The portion size and timing on courses was perfect. Too many times do I leave a steakhouse feeling like a stuffed pig. I certainly was full, but it’s perfect for a 3 course meal.
Service was slow and unattentive. Slow on drinks, slow on refills. Slow on appetizer order taking.....
Knowledge of steaks was elementary.
Steak - ribeye was dry, only warm x2.
Sides were very good.
Waiter was an amateur.
Bread by the slice was a waste of time-wondering around the restaurant. Use loaves.
I know it was NYE but not impressed and I was excited to go. $266 was not a good experience. Not for the name and hype.
Desserts were odd....
The ribeye 24 oz was warm and dry.... how does that happen?
Ordered the 45 day dry aged Akaushi ribeye for two. We asked for medium rare and it was medium well. Asked for steak not to be cut up and they cut anyway. Got wedge and garden salads and they were fine. Mushrooms and Brussels Sprouts were good. For $200 plus we were underwhelmed and probably won’t be back.
Great Steak and sides. Service was erratic and sometimes slow. Just been open 2 months so hopefully gets worked out over time.
Its very expensive for a restaurant in a mall! Food was good. Prices too high
Our server angelique was excellent.
Lovely decor, but chairs not very comfortable.
Desserts nothing to go crazy about.
