Misleading advertising on their website re Mother’s Day luncheon and very rude insensitive manager w no remorse they were only serving cold sandwiches and pastries. Their website had a mother day luncheon special and she was absolutely vile and said our party can go somewhere else? Really where can we go on such a day w a party of 8. Absolutely horrible.
Arrived for Mother’s Day tea. The scones, finger sandwiches, desserts etc were all excellent, and I hope they resume their Sunday tea service again.
I only wish the tea was not served in a coffee cup and pot. The cup actually had the word “Coffee” printed inside it! The coffee pot was not ideal for a tea service service either. Also, missing was milk and sugar with the tea, but the host was happy to grab some for us. I do not recollect this being the case in the past, when they offered tea every Sunday. The quality and taste was great overall!
Very good French restaurant at SC Plaza with very friendly staff.
We used to go to Patina in Los Angeles for family events but decided to try the tasting menu here. Our 6.30 table was ready but not outside as we had booked. The menu was six small courses and as all the diners were having the same experience we expected service to be prompt, it was not. Our first course actually arrived at 7.30 pm, an hour after we had been seated. Several other tables had chosen an additional course of caviar, and we were made to wait until other tables had finished this course before our meal began. This was not explained to us at all, and no apology was offered, we were simply abandoned by the staff to entertain ourselves and wait for the first course.
We found the wine pairings to be very average, and the sauternes served with the terrine was a poor choice.
Some of the small plates were quite flavourful, the fish was well cooked and presented, but there was nothing that could be said to in any way justify the price. The risotto, for instance was not properly cooked, and the desert course was simply garish - sliced mandarin oranges with what appeared to be a store-bought lemon curd, served with a strongly flavoured olive oil sorbet that had no business being part of a desert dish. The final dish was served at 9.35pm and the only comparatively prompt part of the service was the delivery of the bill five minutes later.
It is nice to take one's time over a meal but when the restaurant takes three and a quarter hours to serve six small plates of food whose three or four mouthfuls disappear in a couple of minutes the evening just drags, and by the half-way point people were starting to ask for their food to go! We all thought we should have brought something to read to pass the time.
The restaurant charges a fixed 23% for service that leaves a great deal to be desired, and the cost of bottled water is ridiculous. This was a decent restaurant when we have dined there previously but not any more.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful I feel like I’m in Paris . The Brie and truffle mouse is outstanding this steak was one of the best steaks I have ever had and then desert wow amazing . Definitely the best restaurant in Orange County
Beautiful setting, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great food and overall bright experience.
Fantastic food was superb service was excellent and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful
Wonderful service and ambiance. Great experience overall
It was my first time and I will deffinatly go back
My steak and fries delicious 😋
Service is great 👍
The caviar service was ethereal.
High end restaurant with incredible food! Great service!
We had a great time on our Anniversary. Thank you very much!
Tell the wine waiter that 56 degrees for red wine is definitely too cold.
The food was excellent!
Beautiful and welcoming.
Recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
Just meeting up with some friends. Food was great and ambience is fantastic. Thank you!!
Had a business lunch on the Knife Pleat lovely courtyard patio--it was just about full.
The food was wonderful--we both ordered the three-course menu du jour. The entree was exceptional--salmon cookedperfectly and served with super fresh seasonal vegetables. You could tell they are all cooked separately which keeps the flavors and textures the best. Included tiny marble potatoes. Salmon had a light brown butter-lemon sauce with capers. The size was just right.
The desserts here are exceptional--the French pastry chef is extremely talented. This was a saffron ice cream layered with a strawberry sorbet with fresh strawberries and pistachio chantilly. The colors were amazing!
Enjoyed it with a half bottle of champagne. Nice way to start the weekend. Highly recommend. You cannot find this kind of food executed with such a level of skill in many spots in SoCal. Worth the drive!
The steak fries were not as good as my last visit. It was overcooked. I asked for med rare, but more like medium.
The butter lettuce salad was fresh, but it only have butter lettuce and a few slices of radish. A little too plain.
I like to thanks everybody at Knife Pleat for amazing dinning expariance at these crazy times . Food and drinks was amazing like always and the personal welcome back by the staff and owners was anove and beyond. Thank you again and see uou very soon Libor &Dagmar
Great service nice ambience and excellent food and good choice of wines. Will go there again
Easter brunch at Knife Pleat was perfection! Food, service, & attention to detail all helped to make if a very special dining experience.
Really excellent food with wonderful presentation. Top quality service. Ate on outdoor patio which was very pleasant with fans, heaters and sun shields.
Loved this restaurant- food was great (although entrees took some time) but service was fabulous, people were kind and knowledgeable
Was a great night!
Everything was a dream. I will be back. Was not crazy about the risotto. Found it to be crunchy? I was looking forward to a creamy dish but found it to be crunchy and the portion was small. Other than that it was a dream in every way.
A bit pricey for the quality
There is a 5% charge that is not disclosed upfront but gets added to the bill before tax and tip
We had the Taster’s Menu, and it was amazing. This is a beautiful restaurant, worth the splurge. The space is lovely. The service is prompt and kind. The food is the real draw, though, innovative and delicious.
Excellent service, food, and location, friendly and helpful service, highly recommended.
Absolutely stunning, wonderful, fancy restaurant, love the organization and decorations, delicious and tasty meal 🥘 and 100% creative and so many Art you will have on the plate 💯😍definitely live to be back to try different 🥰
Disappointed that the truffle risotto was discontinued. Only reason why we wanted to dine here. Otherwise the service was excellent.
Knife pleat is one of my favorite hidden gems in so cal. Having lived in Manhattan for years and being used to the michelin star caliber restaurants there , I’m so happy we have knife pleat here. Reminds me of Jean George’s at trump tower :) & ms. Sarmadi is a joy to talk to when she’s there :)
Not the best birthday celebration dinner. It was freezing outside, seated next to a screaming kid. The food was far below the level of the past including the tiny portions, visual presentation not to mention the taste. It is a shame as it was my favorite place! I wouldn’t recommend anymore.
this is a small quiet restaurant. very chic restaurant with quality service. the terrace is pleasant when the weather is nice. Regarding food, the prices are expensive for the quantity on the plate with beautiful presentation with fresh products, little food on the plate but extremely good! this restaurant is a place to have a good time to eat in a high quality atmosphere and for those who love French haute cuisine. no need for a doggy bag! the price per person has a minimum of $ 80.
Best Chef in Orange County. The only french food more authentic would be a restaurant with a view of the Eiffel Tower... Very impressive.
60 th birthday
A truly perfect dining experience in every way!
Knife Pleat is pure culinary excellence in a stylish, yet warm dining environment. Chef Tony Esnault and his team continually impress with their delicious modern French presentations. Service is impeccable and the beverage program is well curated to pair with the cuisine. What a pleasure to have world class dining right here in Orange County! I look forward to my next visit.
Wonderful meal and atmosphere! I will definitely be back again.
Excellent lunch, managing foot and wine selection!
Food and service was excellent, and drinks were amazing as well. Will definitely recomend and will be back as well.
The food and service was great
We were the last seating for lunch and we never felt rushed. Would definitely return.
