It was good, but it was not $750+ good for a group of 6. There are too many other better steakhouse options in that price range to come back here. Flavorful food, but portions of appetizers and sides were small for sharing. Filet was on the dry side and pretty well past the ordered medium.
I took customers here for our holiday dinner... we were NOT disappointed... the food was fantastic! We had oysters, the bacon "sampler", avocado fries and amazing steaks... the food was out of this world!! We also got there early enough to enjoy their $5 happy hour prices... a lot to choose from on the happy hour menu... this is a brand new location, in the mall, by Dillards… but we will be going back again... it can become expensive, but well worth it... there were 3 of us and our meal/drinks, etc was roughly $500, but worth every penny... we will go back for sure! YUM!!
Fantastic food and a great atmosphere!!
The food and service was fantastic. Definitely not your traditional steak house so don't go expecting a serious formal dining experience. But service was great and attentive on a Saturday night. Every one was super friendly and helpful. Sommelier was engaging and the bartender was also very helpful. All staff seemed very helpful and on point. Order any steak charred for the best crust on your meat. Sides were simple but tasty. Wine was great at a great price and desert was the perfect ending. Menu reads like a steakhouse but the vibe is not so expect a little more casual experience with fantastic steak!
The bacon sampler was nice and unexpected, but the quality of the experience deteriorated from there. They forget to deliver my Ceasar salad and I had to cancel it as the main course arrived. My wife's steak was underdone, the avacado fries were over done, the veggies were bland and the deserts made no sense at all (delivering tiny samples of a mixed variety that few could really enjoy). The restaurant was very loud and only half full (I can imagine the din that would result with a full restaurant). Way too many great places in Plano/Frisco to spend much time here until they've worked the kinks out.
food was OK. service was very bad. ambiance is casual but not family friendly. obscene artwork in the restrooms - very inappropriate. we were hoping for a great neighborhood option but were disappointed. there are too many other great restaurants in West Plano especially at this price.
We dined here for my husbands birthday and we were not impressed at all. Food took forever to come out and the the food was just not very good. It was ok but I would have expected more from this place. Paying over $300 for a meal you expect better things. The decorations in this place are pretty basic as well. Cheap table and chairs and just a pretty empty space overall. Will not return. Disappointed because we really we excited about this being closer to home. Also indicated on open table we were dining for a birthday and there was no mention of it ever during our visit.
Food and service were exceptional.
It’s not as nice as the Dallas location. It’s very elegant dining there. This is more like a mall restaurant, noisy and the servers are not as professional. I said it was a special occasion and my server did not note that without telling her near the end of our dinner. Underwhelming, seriously. The Dallas location is much more elegant. Perhaps I didn’t realize that.
Food was just okay for the price. Tr steak my husband had was just okay. I’ve cooked better at home. The burger wasn’t good and they forgot my condiment. We were told chicken would take an hour to get so I don’t see what it was even on the menu. We had eight people dining. One person didn’t get their pasta until 10 min after everyone else. Won’t return.
I've been waiting for Plano to get a restaurant like this. The food was great. But the service was even better. The wine selection was good. Some of your usuals were on the list but priced differently than expected. If you want to splurge, there were a couple of interesting wines there as well. Steak was perfectly cooked. I would highly recommend the ravioli.
The food was great. Unfortunately, our server kept forgetting my drinks. I ordered hot tea before we even got the menus, cuz it was cold outside. Halfway thru our meal, I asked for my tea, he said, it is being made. I can't believe they don't have hot water always available for hot tea? I ordered coffee to go with my dessert. Again, he said the coffee was coming. Halfway thru my dessert, I called on him and he said it was coming. I did know that service was bad from yelp reviews, but I thought it was because it was new. It's been a month and the service is still lacking. Oh well. We do love his branch in Dallas.
Very slow service, steak over cooked, loud room that we sat in, not a great experience at all.
We visited Knife Plano with some friends after they recommended the Dallas location. The food was amazing, but they are still working out some kinks with the service. We waited a long time for our drink order to be taken, and then even longer for our drinks to be brought out. Our steaks were done before the sides. The timing is just a little off, but I am sure they'll get that sorted soon. The food is amazing, but it is very pricey. I am sure we will be back in the future, just for a special occasion instead of date night.
Food better than average. Noise level was disturbingly loud, couldn’t hear the waiter clearly even though he was almost yelling, barely able to hold a conversation across the table. We almost left before ordering.
The Short Ribs were the tenderest meat I have ever eaten.
The service was very attentive.
Great experience at Knife. Place is beautiful, service is very attentive and helpful and food was amazing. We'll be back soon...and often. Congrats John Tesar!
This was our second time at Knife WB. Again, everything was outstanding including the service. My wife had the swordfish and after a couple of bites she said it was the best swordfish she had ever had. Our friend and I shared the pig's head. Don't let it put you off. The meat is taken off the head and is served on a platter with flour and corn tortillas and lots of different condiments . There is some delightful crunch as you eat your taco so if you enjoy the crispy pork haunches at the Dallas Knife this would be for you. The only minor criticism I would have is that both the salsas (one red, one green) are a little mild and I would appreciate some heat in at least one of them. The dessert was also great.
This restaurant was by far my best steakhouse experience. I had an amazing dry-aged sirloin with incredible sides. Cooked perfectly. The ambiance and design exceeding my expectations. To top it off, the service was outstanding. I will be a regular!
The customer service was beyond amazing!! The food? Wow, to die for! It was fresh, creative and perfect! The desert was something out of a magazine.... I can’t wait to go bs k and another item on the menu!
This was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Everything about our dinner was outstanding. The food was amazing Normally I would not get a burger at a steak restaurant but I had read an article long ago rating theirs as one of the best in the country. I was not disappointed. The menu also had a good variety and a lot of the side dishes were really unique. Our waiter Joaquin was also wonderful. He was very helpful and had a great sense of humor. I definitely can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.
The ambiance of the restaurant was not high end although the prices were. Felt like Macaroni Grill level. Steak was terrible. Meat was tough, no flavor. We ordered 2 bone in sirloins, at $110 each, neither was edible and both went back. Manager was defensive. The owner was present and did not even come over to apologize...not a good start for this establishment. We eat at Steakhouse’s weekly, but will not be back here.
Wanted to try Knife based on Chef Tesar’s reputation and prior experience when was at The Mansion.
The restaurant setting is beautiful, but we were disappointed. Service was not as attentive as we expected, and the restaurant was not terribly busy. Very noisy even though we were the only table in our section. We were shocked at the food quality. The avocado fries were excellent and arguably the highlight of the dinner. The lamb meatballs were nothing special, just ok. The steaks were disappointing. Mine was a bit overcooked(medium well instead of medium), pretty bland and a bit on dry side. Onion rings were ok, but bland. French fries were awful. Reminded me of the frozen fries that we used to buy at the grocery store when I was a kid! The wine (Cakebread Cab) was disappointing.
For the quality, way overpriced. Do not plan to return for now.
The restaurant opened recently. Maybe it was an off day, but it was way off. I hope that they get their act together. It would be a shame if it failed!
Outstanding service with an attention to detail one can appreciate
Fantastic meal and fantastic service. Knife has truly set the bar high for steak houses and more in the metroplex.
Food is great but the interior finish out is very casual for fine dining. Not really a sexy date spot, more of a chill place to meet friends in the mall. Plates are generously sized and delish.
The filet mignon was melt in your mouth delicious. The okra is not to be missed. Our waiter was so helpful and attentive. I would highly recommend this place!!!
Was looking forward to this addition but the restaurant failed to impress. Staff was nice and accommodating but it was the food, particularly the steaks, that failed. They were charred and lukewarm as if they had been sitting in the kitchen too long. Sides were small compared to other steakhouses around. The slab can do with better presentation. On another note, if going to spend $400 then I’d like tablecloth and comfier chairs- my chair kept sliding. We gave it a go but we’ll most likely stick with capital grill on legacy for steak night.
Food , service and ambiance was not that great. Ordered pepper crusted tuna ( medium rare ) which came out really well done. The server did take it back, however this time the tuna steak was a much smaller piece. Bread served was cold not freshly made like you expect in a steakhouse. Tiki drink was bitter. Not a good cocktail. The server didn’t check on us once to see if the food and drinks were alright. Service was slow.
Would not recommended this restaurant to friends and family.
I came to KNIFE as a huge fan of Top Chef and John Tesar. I was NOT disappointed. The food was terrific, the ambiance was perfect, the staff was very friendly, our waiter was super knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely come again! and although John Tesar wasn't there at the time it was still exciting knowing i was eating his food visions!
PS: Loved the Anthony Bourdain painting near the restrooms. I know he was close to Anthony Bourdain and my husband and i are just huge fans so it was a nice tribute to see!
I will keep this short and sweet. The food is great and the service is excellent. We will be back.
Everything was really good! A little on the expensive side but if you go in to it knowing that it’s not a problem. All the food and drinks were awesome! Perfect place for a nice date, special occasion, nice business dinner, etc. We were astounded by the quality of the food and selection of steaks.
I do not recommend this restaurant because the service is not engaged with their patrons. We had made a reservation for 2 at 8:00. We walked through the main dining room that had open tables only to be taken to the back room to a table behind a curtain in a corner. Not being happy we decided to eat at the bar. The bartender ignored us in the beginning only to then to proceed to ask us without eye contact if we would be eating . We said “yes” in which he responded again no eye contact while doing something on his computer to say I will be with you in a few minutes. Then he proceeded to go talk to another bartender. My husband and looked at each other and decided to leave. I’m not going to pay $30+ for a steak here when I can go to Bobs or Del Frisco’s where they appreciate our business. In my opinion this place will not make it. There is tough competition out there and when your dropping the ball one month into being open that not good.Word travels fast in this community. BTW, we went to the Mexican Bar next door sat down at the bar and was welcomed immediately. We will go back to that establishment.
We went with some friends to the new Knife at the Willow Bend Mall. It was terrific. It is unusual for a new restaurant (even high end) to be some tightly wound but this one was. The service was great and our waiter knew the answers to all of our questions. I won't drag everyone through what each person ordered but all of us were extremely pleased with our meals. Knife didn't miss a beat from soup to nuts. We will be back again soon. Congratulations for opening an outstanding new restaurant in Plano.
The service was fantastic but the food was only decent for the prices. A little loud & hard to hold a conversation when sitting next to each other.
My wife and I had a fantastic meal at Knife. Chef Tesar has truly created a gem. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great menu. The big short rib was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. The muffin and mint they give you after your meal is a classy touch. We will definitely return often.
Good Steaks, Just a bit pricey. I have said it all.
Dinner with friends. Best flat iron steak.
Everyone on staff worked to make this a great experience. Our table was reserved and set up prior to our arrival and everyone was very attentive and helpful with suggestions and recommendations. Absolutely loved the experience!!
We have been to the other Knife location multiple times and wanted to try the new location. I want to start off I liked the setup of the restaurant, the bar, open kitchen seen from the entire restaurant - that was all great!! Now for the experience - We have a 7:45 reservation and we invited some friends we are set around 7:40 we've already had one round of drinks at the bar. We sit down and order apps the lamb meatballs are always my go to and those tonight were no exception, DELICIOUS!! We have done the bacon tasting multiple times and we always tell new diners to try this - on this night it was NOT GOOD. The bacon was nothing special and at that price they should've said they were out of bacon! All 5 pieces were thin, flimsy, greasy and really no flavor. Before when we had this they were thick and each one the flavor profile delicious this was a disappointment and embarrassment that we suggested for them to try!
We ordered the 110 day aged and it was over cooked but by this time we have now been here for almost an hour and half and we are hunger (as we've had about 3 more rounds of drinks) we also had the oxtail ravioli (very tasty). My husband started with beer then switched to a 1/2 bottle of wine decided to order another and they were out so he went with the suggestion of the manager that 2nd 1/2 bottle was 75% more than the first!! So finally we are at the end of our dinner over 2 hours later and the guys decide let's get a cigar so they go to the humidor that is near the bar and come to find out that they have them on display but you can't buy them as they don't have there license yet :( Another disappointment - I did meet Chef John Tesar for a brief moment so that was awesome as I've bee a fav of his from Top Chef. I'm sure we will try it out again as I'm a foodie and everyone has bad days but at almost $500 I expected to have a better experience to say the least.
