Knee High Stocking Co.
What Insiders Are Saying
Knee-High Stocking Company in Capitol Hill is one of the best Seattle “speakeasies.” Make a reservation and prepare for a lot of good cocktails.
Nice spot for a drink on a weekday, not sure how crowded it gets on the weekends. Definitely place a reservation beforehand for gaurenteed seating. Drinks were fantastic - my partner got the "Thank You For Smoking" and I asked for a gin-based shrub, both very tasty and very strong. Our server was really attentive and friendly!
Food is too expensive. If you buy from the outside it costs $11 but from inside it’s $19, crazy!
Venue is wonderful, cocktails were amazing, food was good - we had to change our order as the kitchen ran out of rice! the service was hit and miss - food was slow coming out and some meals were incorrect when they did arrive. The bill wasn’t updated to reflect our new orders sans rice and when we explained this to our server she assumed we were trying to dupe her out of her standard 20% tip!
I think it would have been a different experience if we were in the room where the bar is, but we were in the other room (closer to the entrance). The service was great though, and the waitress gave us awesome recommendations for cocktails.
Stumbled upon this place while organizing a pub crawl and was lucky to get a 10pm seating last Saturday night. There's a slight attitude at the door, but that quickly gives way to the warmth of the inside. The drinks were imaginative and we gave the bar folks creative license. The food was awesome and easily shared. Fun & different for sure.
I didn’t actually have any food but a rating was required
10 out of 10. Fantastic. Our server was super suave and was there when we needed him and didn’t bug us when we didn’t need him. Food was awesome, drinks were great. Great ambiance. Was there with family, but I think this would be a really great spot for a date.
An excellent experience. We randomly decided to cancel an earlier reservation and try this establishment out. It was a gamble, but one that paid off handsomely.
We sat at the bar, highly recommended. The small space meant that we had a literal 'front row seat' to watch the master mixologist create drink after drink, all with multi ingredients and top shelf alcohol. There was an herb garden of rosemary, lavender, mint, etc, a bowl of eggs and dozens of house-made mixes and bitters. The bartender was super cool, open to chatting and offering up tastes, just in case we wanted to know....
Food was excellent as well. A steak sandwich for me and pork adobo bowl for the lady. Both, full of flavor and portioned just right. We conversed with others at the bar, enjoying and sharing stories through the evening. It was a bit on the 'spendy' side, but at no point did it feel like it was 'too much.' You get fine food, drink and service for what you pay. We will make this a regular place for special occasions and whenever we want to upscale it a bit.
Bartender was very rude, cursing at the bar, and left randomly. drinks were overpriced for what they were.
Going away get together with a few friends. Nice and Cozy on a wet Seattle Sunday night. Server had great recommendations and was super nice. Atmosphere was nice and chill . It got much busier about the time we left. Had the best Sazarac custom made to my liking.
Great speakeasy near downtown Seattle. Reservations are a must, but totally worth it!
A birthday celebration. It was not quite what we were expecting for a speakeasy. It was very cold and the velvet curtain was not helping to keep the cold out. We asked to be moved and she did move us. But it was not a place we would come back. We will try another speakeasy.
Didn’t have food but cocktails were delicious, service was great, ambiance was fun. Will go again!
Food was extraordinary. It exceeded my expectations. Lovely and romantic. My non alcoholic herbal cocktail was divine.
My wife and I tried to go here several years ago. Other things came up and were not able to go. However, after long last, we were able to experience this wonderful place. Knee High Stocking Company is a speakeasy is the truest sense. Reservations are a must. Because they check who you are at the door. Your biggest challenge will be to find the door itself. Which is half the fun. When you get in, you will be brought into one of The classiest and intimate venues in the Seattle area. Wait staff is attentive and polite. The food is good, but that’s not why you come here. You come for the drinks. Each one is a hand-crafted masterpiece and I would hazard to say the most creative libations to be mixed in this city. This is the perfect place for a first date, anniversary, a quiet night out, or to be with one’s self contemplating the universe.
I have been to Knee High Stocking company a few times and it is always a fun place to go. This time I brought some friends from out of town and they loved it! Very cool novelty bar to take people.
Great bartender, entertaining and funny!
Just lose the TV downstairs...it exacerbates the darkness.
When arriving it looks like any of the houses around, which is cool since it’s a speakeasy. You can’t use flash to take photos and it’s basically dark inside, therefore, we couldn’t take any photos. Our drinks were incredibly expensive for what they were, $19 for a cocktail is ridiculous. We initially came to have dinner and drinks. The food was not dinner food (more bar type food) and expensive again. So we left starving, went to an amazing restaurant down the street and had a better experience there.
Honestly, don’t recommend.
Service was a little slow but overall good food and atmosphere
Food was lower quality than I’d expect but the drinks were good. Very lovely/ cozy environment, though maybe just a tad too dark. Even though we made a reservation we were made to wait outside in the cold for about 10 minutes. Overall it’s a really fun idea as a speak easy but the execution is falling short.
Great service & great drinks. Drinks done to perfection.
I found the ambience to be nice and the service, food and drinks to be very good but over priced for what you get. We are from Victoria, BC Canada and things here are already over priced and the drinks at the Kneehigh Stocking Company were even more expensive.
Please be aware that the place has 3 different rooms. We were seated in the room by the entrance which is not romantic nor it is indicative of the whole speakeasy theme. Try to ask the hostess to get out you seated in the room downstairs which has much better ambiance.
Cozy and classic. Good drink smithing. Friendly staff. But a place endowed with this level of romantic ambiance, and small space to fill, should use real candles. The plastic electric “easy” faux candles and faux flowers betray their willingness to cut corners, preventing Knee High from being something truly special.
Stopped for drinks. Drinks were good but service was slow. Bartender was self induced over worked. If he could focused on one order at a time he would more quicker. Watched and waited for one drink 15 minutes....
I really liked our visit to KHSC this past weekend. This will now become one of my favorite places to go in Seattle. The cocktails were great, the food was really good and the intentionally "smaller" atmosphere was intimate, darkly lit and fun. Note: I think you need a reservation to get in and if you have a larger party, you can book their lounge.
We were excited to go to this speakeasy because of the Filipino inspired cuisine. The vibe to the place was good, everything I expected, nice music, vibes but a little dark, but it was okay. As for the food, I was excited to try the arroz caldo because I love arroz caldo and I thought it was going to be really good. I was quite disappointed. It had no flavor, very bland. It tasted like watered down soft rice with pieces of chicken. There was no flavor, I didn't taste the ginger or garlic, or even chicken broth, or salt and pepper. I was highly disappointed and I don't think it was worth the $17 I paid for. I wouldn't recommend getting any of the food here. I really thought the food would be more Filipino if that makes sense, it wasn't great. I think it was a little offensive side when the waitress/hostess asked us if we were Filipino because we said the names of the food choices correctly like it was funny but then again, it was like uhm okay. Anyways, I would recommend this place for drinks and NOT for the food.
This exceeded our expectations for a speakeasy. Loved the drinks, food and ambiance
Drinks were awful. Service was hideous. Had to wait 40 mins to even order then another 40 mins to even get our first drink. Would not recommend!!!
I can’t say enough great things about this place. This was my second time going, and once again I was blown away by the food. Veggie sliders are to die for! The lighting was a bit dark, but overall gave it a cozy feel. By far, one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle!
Horrible. They canceled my reservation after 15 minutes, so we got back on the waitlist, waited for an hour at a bar across the street, they forgot about us and after we came back after an hour of waiting they said they couldn’t and would not seat us. This was for a birthday celebration, will not be recommending this place to anyone. Not worth the time for such an uncreative entrance anyway.
Great place! Love the music and ambiance. Food was really nice and the waitress was super cool. Move to the bar to enjoy some drinks... the mixologist was not at its best mood.
I made reservations to go to this speakeasy while in Seattle for a weekend. Except for one tiny sign at the door, there was nothing to indicate there was anything at this little spot, and to get in you had to ring the doorbell—perfect. But once you get in you are immediately in a cozy but lively atmosphere. Now the drinks are VERY expensive, so plan accordingly. But they were absolutely worth it! All the ones I tried were amazing. Our server was very friendly and gave us some drink suggestions. It was very dark in there-low lighting and black curtains on all the windows—but I personally really liked that. The decor was on point for the 1920s style. I loved how they played jazzy music in line with the theme. I can’t speak for the food because I didn’t have any, so my rating for that reflects the drinks only.
Was able to accommodate last minute reservation for 9 people for a work function I was having with me work team. The team loved the place! It went over incredibly well and the owner is so nice to have made accommodations. Will be going back for sure!
We wanted to try the “cup of awesome” which had great reviews on yelp but the staff told us they don’t make that drink anymore. Kinda upsetting but I would say only go there for drinks the food was ok and very expensive a cup of caramel corn or they called it similar to house made cracker jacks $8. I would recommend getting food at pie bar across the street and then come here for drinks only
The food was good, drinks were ok, and the service was terrible. Our waitress treated us like we were lucky to be let in. Would not go there again. I recommend going to Needle and Thread instead. Their service is 100 times better.
Cool hideaway gem. Great for date night, nice atmosphere, great food, creative drinks. Drinks are on the expensive side.
I LOVE speakeasies, and when my fiance and I were in Seattle, I decided to take him on a bit of a speakeasy tour. Knee High Stocking was our second stop on our tour, and it certainly didn't disappoint. This was one of few places Anthony Bourdain visited to try it's authentic and imaginative Filipino cuisine, and raved about it - I can see why. While there wasn't much in the way of gluten-free food, the drinks were absolutely fantastic, and my fiance was thrilled with the dish he ordered. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone, if they want a pretty great experience! On why it only got Very Good from me was 1. The experience is more authentic when it's dark out, and the shades were too bright to enjoy the speakeasy part (feeling hidden). 2. We had a very rowdy large group that were hard to talk over.
Reservations are a must on Friday and Saturday evenings. There are two levels with bars on both, with a larger seating area on the top floor. The place definitely has a more mature feel to it with jazz music playing in the background. The music and conversation generates some noise (this is a bar after-all), but it does not overshadow conversation. Service is exceptionally friendly and they have a wide selection of available cocktails.
