About Klein / Harris
KLEIN / HARRIS is an independent restaurant concept, inspired from the diverse bounty that Canada has to offer. Located in downtown Calgary on Stephen Avenue, KLEIN / HARRIS highlights the stories of passionate Canadian producers with the use of exceptional products and ingredients. Working with a long list of national heroes that make True North Cuisine possible, Executive Chef James Waters focuses on distinct coast-to-coast Canadian dishes; a culinary journey that begins in the West to eventually end on the East Coast, highlighting ingredients like wild seasonal mushrooms from British Columbia and fresh notable oysters from The Mari-times.

Klein / Harris Ratings and Reviews
Every dish that was served, to our own table, and to the tables surrounding ours, looked absolutely delicious. The chef accomodated my allergy, and the service was professional. We will return, and look forward to trying more dishes. A favourite of ours was the mushroom ravioli.
The food was delicious.
The service was brutal. After being seated by who would eventually be our server, nobody came by for 20 min. After the server took water preference, the host came by 5 min later and asked for our water preference.
By the time the appetizer was served, three different people had been at our table. Perhaps the restaurant was understaffed for a Thursday night? Not sure what the issue was. Did my appear to be exuberantly busy.
Would go back for the food, the menu looks very interesting. But give yourself lots of time.
Pleasantly pleased by our dinner at Klein/Harris. We both had the pork sirloin dinner with roasted potatoes and beets. The pork was perfectly cooked - nice and tender. We had the K/H butter tart with a pineapple ice cream. The pastry on the tart was light and flakey. All in all well executed.
This was our 2nd time here and it didn't disappoint! The food is awesome! We sat at the bar the first time and it was fun to watch their staff expertly prepare every dish. Last night there was 4 of us so we sat at a table. Each and every dish we ordered was excellent from the walnut salad to the lettuce wraps to the 2 specials of the day; the sole and the stuffed chicken. Oh and you must try the scallops! So much flavour in their food! Every one was delighted with their meal, great compliments to the chef! This is our new favorite! The service is very professional and attentive as well.
We had a nice night. I found the menu very reasonably priced and portions quite big. We liked the scallops and the toast with 3 toppings for appetizers.
I would only address ventilation in the venue. It was very smokey inside which made them open the front door often, but it’s winter and if you are sitting close to the door, the last thing you want is a cold draft on you. So yeah better ventilation is definitely needed, we left smelling like we cooked in the kitchen for 3 hours lol But other than that it was very good!
From the moment we walked in to Klein Harris, we knew we'd hit the jackpot. We were greeted pleasantly at the door and taken to our seats along the food bar. Our server Julian took the time to discuss the menu with us and make suggestions which lead to a superb meal of mushroom ravioli topped with Humboldt squid, mmm mmm! While not usually dessert eaters, we couldn't pass up sharing the butter tart with candied walnuts and the most delectable in-house apple pie ice cream on the side... absolutely delicious! Klein Harris was a random pick for us due to it's proximity to Vertigo Theater but the food, service and general ambiance will definitely bring us back!
The staff and kitchen were a delight and each dish we ordered was tasty! Our table of 4 had drinks, appetizers, entrees, dessert, wine and cocktails and Klein / Harris made us forget about the cold and snow that was happening outside.
Recommend: Smoked Duck and Lamb Loin.
Thursday's are "Burger Roulette" night and it will have to be done on my next visit!
All around great spot. Lunch special is always excellent and an easy choice every time I go. Their other menu items have all been delicious and worth trying as a side to share along with the lunch special or to order a few and share as your lunch. Service is always friendly and fast.
I have been here three times and find their more unique dishes my favorite. The chef's creations are my favorite, such as the candied pork belly, his rolled pork roast (currently rotated off the menu but will be back), home made donuts, and some of his fish specials.
The other 'typical' dishes such as their duck, mushroom ravioli, and foie gras tasting were also quite good based on what I hear from friends.
Great customer service, and they even check if you are having dinner before a show so they can help get you out on time. Nice thoughtful touch.
What a classy little spot! Loved the decor, the service and the food. The lunch special of roast chicken sandwich, side, beverage and dessert was fantastic. Nice vegetarian options. Butter tarts were perfect. Had a sample of the grilled cheese and it was delicious too. Highly recommended.
Wasn't overly impressed by my entire experience. The food was OK but a little overpriced. The service was less than ideal, very rushed and really not a lot of attention given despite it being very quiet. It seems they really specialize in the corporate lunch, get you in, get you out approach
Went there for our anniversary date-night and had a wonderful dinner. We were served by the management staff who were delightful and clearly very proud of their restaurant and their delicious creations. Love the decor, the open kitchen (with a mirror to see what the chefs are up to!) and the option to sit outside, inside the dining room or the comfortable lounge and bar. A great reason to spend lunch or an evening on Stephen Ave.
The food and atmosphere was great. When I told our server it was my boyfriends birthday, she brought over small samples of dessert wine for the whole table which I thought was a nice touch. My only complaint is that the food portions were very small and we left hungry. Due to this, I don't think I would jump to return.
