Everyone loved it, we came back again the next day!
The staff were eager to make our special birthday dinner a wonderful experience. Wine and food recommendations were spot on. The food was simply amazing!!! I will return and recommend Kiwiana to my friends.
Amazing dining experience as always!
Excellent restraurant. Delicious food. Nice place to have dinner and a conversation. Lovely but not too noisy.
The service was excellent, as well as the food; however, the portions were very small and the prices high. The restaurant is nice and homey.
The food and service were just okay. Plenty of better options out there; no plans to return. Ambiance was very pretty and relaxed with nice outdoor tables in front.
I love this place, I've been there at least half a dozen times and I haven't had a bad meal yet. Their brunch is particularly good.
We've been coming to this place almost since they opened. It is small (& sometimes a bit tight in terms of seating), but the food is amazing … the wine selection unique … the service always attentive & always charming. I cannot recommend this place enough.
All the dishes were excellent. I was surprised that this place is not busier. One of the best meals I've had in Park Slope.
Kiwiana is an excellent neighborhood restaurant offering excellent food at a fair price. The whole family regularly enjoys Kiwiana for brunch and dinner.
An absolutely delightful dining event - though our whole party was vegetarian, the options for us were more than usually delightful - each dish was fresh, flavorsome and surprising, from the pecan in the squash soup to the creaminess of the beet pasta. The service was unflaggingly attentive and courteous and though the room wasn't overwhelming in its decor, it was charming with a great, though unobtrusive soundtrack. We agreed we'd be back!
Kiwiana does everything right with a small menu. The salmon with Brussels sprouts and lardons was inspired. I won't eat restaurant fried chicken anywhere but at Kiwiana. The wine list is excellent, the service thoughtful. We have a great thing in Park Slope at Kiwiana.
I had a great time here, it was so nice to go to a great restaurant and not be in a crazy loud environment. The only problem I had, was that my wife and I sat down way before the tables on either side of us, and both of them got their entrees before we did, and they ordered the same thing that we did. As someone who has been in food service for 10+ years that makes absolutely no sense.
Very good meal. Great lamb chops and fried chicken. Wine by the glass selection limited and pricy. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. We will return.
We had a great night and great dinner-we all enjoyed what we ordered and best of all we could all hear each other speak throughout the dinner-a rarity in NY these days! Highly recommend.
Fantastic food, perfect atmosphere
Lots of delicious courses and interesting flavors! Very homey and comfy.
Went there for dinner with my son...everything was excellent, the food, the service - definitely will go back!
Exquisite experience all around. The owner, Mark Simmons, waited on us himself (it was a very quiet night a couple of days after New Year’s), and he was exquisite — factual, quietly confident, not boasting. And there was a LOT for him to boast about! The room is quietly elegant, charming, and cozy. An extensive beer and wine list, with several cocktail selections that looked quite delicious. Every single thing we ordered was perfect — the white bait latkes, octopus salad, short ribs, and three plates of fried chicken with truffle honey and kale slaw. Had we had room, we’d have ordered dessert. But that will have to wait for our next visit! A perfect five-star experience all around.
Kiwiana is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. Laid back, great food, and all at an affordable price. I even had an engagement brunch here and their special event treatment greatly exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend coming in and for the coffee connoisseur, order a flat white!
We were a party of seven for Christmas Eve dinner, and Kiwiana did not disappoint. We had a teenager with us, so I was a bit concerned that he might not find a dish that appealed to him, but he really enjoyed his NY strip steak. The service was warm, friendly, and very attentive, yet we never felt as if someone were hovering over us. The space is small and cozy with a very comfortable, relaxed ambience. Music was playing at a good volume: loud enough to hear it, but not so loud that we had to speak loudly over it. We ordered a number of shared plates: salmon ceviche, whitefish latkes, beets and ricotta, and yucca tater tots. For our entrées, we had the strip steak, burgers, fried chicken, and lamb(?), all of which was delicious. The desserts were fantastic, especially the pavlova. The lemon poppyseed pannacotta was delicious, as well as the pecan bread with a salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Thank you for the wonderful meal and service for our special holiday dinner!
Fantastic. Good food, service and very family friendly. We travelled 30min by taxi for family brunch and would happily do so again.
Food was a tad oversalted and overdressed but otherwise very enjoyable
An underrated gem that should always be in the conversation about great Brooklyn restaurants.
It was fairly quiet for us, for people fairly early on a Saturday evening, so service was very attentive and quick. The chef came out to say hi which is always appreciated. Could easily have had anything on the menu, looking forward to returning.
Chef Marc's cuisine is awesome. We have a love for kiwi cuisine and stumbled across this place while wandering through Brooklyn. The food was creative yet comforting and made us feel right at home. Marmite Pork Belly fell off the bone with a fork and was to die for. We will definitely be back.
I took my two twenty-something cousins who were visiting from Israel as well as my daughter and her boyfriend here for an 8 o'clock pm Thursday reservation. We were all quite happy. The service was outstanding and the host made a special effort to explain and accomodate the menu to one of my young cousins who has celiac disease and eats gluten-free. The food was delicious, Two people ordered the lamb chops which, as expected, was a small portion, but the size and price of the same thing in any restaurant I've been to in the US. They said that it was delicious. I had ribs which were absolutely terrific, someone else had salmon which was cooked and served perfectly, and the "Kiwi" burger was terrific as well. Dessert was delicious-extremely fresh and nice portions. The restaurant is not big but it is nicely decorated, and the bar looks great. I highly recommend Kiwiana.
We were intrigued to try something different, and Kiwiana did not disappoint. Sweet little local restaurant with tasty, inventive food and nice wine selection that was not what you typically find. The service was pleasant and efficient. Made us feel like locals which we wish we were!
Delicious food, friendly and knowledgable staff! Very willing to accommodate a member of our party needing gluten free options.
Very friendly and talented chef, excellent dishes. We had the watermelon, feta salad and buttermilk-horopito chicken, along with the rack of lamb. Everything was delicious, and the vibe on a Monday night was nice and mellow, perfect for a date night! Special, well-priced spot in the heart of Park Slope.
We ate brunch here last May and had to try dinner upon our return visit last weekend. We loved the homemade scones and great brunch choices and were not disappointed this time. The New Zealand rack of lamb and burgers with hand cut fries were excellent and the NZ Pavlova is now our new must-have dessert - delicious!!
Excellent food and great service. Unfortunately would not return until cooler weather. Restaurant's air conditioning exists in name only.
Great place, awesome food and beverage options.
Our first time back to Kiwiana in a year or two. The food was overall excellent, and better than I remembered. I had the fried chicken: perfectly prepared, crispy skin, non-traditional flavor (this is not your typical American southern-fried) delicious and not overcooked. Our other entrees were the burger (with pineapple, beet, and egg - terrific!), and the rack of lamb. Both appetizers were also great: the yucca tots (with yummy bacon aioli), and the "Spring on a Plate" with various seasonal green vegetables in a very tasty reduction. An outstanding meal - if you've been routinely walking past this place on your neighborhood errands, I'd recommend stopping in.
Mother’s Day dinner. Very pleasant
Great kiwi tucker!!
Stopped by here after a trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Food was unique and delicious. Cocktails , appetizers , food was all great! Enjoyed the limited menu , which I took as more quality in the dishes.
