Kith / Kin
Celebrating his heritage ranging from Nigeria and Jamaica, to West Africa and the Caribbean, to New Orleans and New York, and now immersed in The Wharf of Washington D.C., Chef Kwame finds his culinary impetus in everywhere he's from, everywhere he's been, and the influence of those who know him best.
We invite you to share in the story. To indulge in flavors with substance. And to take a seat at the table. Because this is a place where all are friends and a member of the family.
Welcome to Kith/Kin.
The food was good but not very original.
Hallmark of a great restaurant is that when they notice you haven't got your food before you have and they ackowledge the mistake and the delay and offer to make it right by compensating you for a course...excellent service, clearly a great staff, and the food is to die for.
Excellent food, friendly service -- I had a wonderful time. Looking forward to coming back!
Amazing food, great service, and the Wharf is a wonderful area. Highly recommend!
Loved the uni, the jollof rice, the goat roti, the rum, our servers, AND getting to meet the very personable Chef Kwame.
We visited this weekend for my husband’s birthday. Everything was fantastic! From the One Love drink that was similar to a pineapple berry martini, to the Brussels, Mama Dukes Shrimp and the Jerk Chicken, everything was delicious!!! Will definitely go back. Fantastic!
This is one of the best restaurants we have been to. The food is exceptional, the cocktails are awesome, the ambience and service are incredible. The chef was out and about in the restaurant greeting people making the experience feel personal. The inspiration behind his menu -family recipes and flavors- add to the feeling that it is a warm and inviting place. I highly recommend Kith/Kin if you can get a reservation.
Fantastic meal with friendly warm professional service. We had high expectations and they were exceeded. Cant wait to go back. Snapper was great, all our small plates were perfect. Cocktails were fresh and flavorful without being too sweet. Wine selection was simple but very effective.
Delicious food, well seasoned, extremely well trained and congenial staff. Extremely loud
Perhaps due to Mardi Gras celebrations.
Fun experience with outstanding food and service
Had a good time. Would come back.
Unbelievable experience from start to finish! It’s wonderful seeing afro-Caribbean cuisine being placed under a beautiful high end spotlight. Our server Nick made the night extremely memorable and the impeccable, warm service provided by him made the night complete! Everything was full of flavor and that Snapper... OMG!!! Please treat yourself and visit this wonderful restaurant. We will definitely be back!
Generous portions of creative and delicious dishes.
Move environment everyone was pleasant valet park was cool
The food is sumptuous. The service is divine. And the music is groovin'.
Amazing! Servers were friendly, informative, and efficient! Food was phenomenal! I have a Caribbean background and my husband is from Kenya - we both loved how Kith/Kin's food tasted both like home and like a new culinary experience. Will definitely be back!
The oxtail were not available. Unfortunately, I was looking forward to having them. However, overall service and food was great!
We arrived promptly at Noon for our Noon reservation. Nobody in sight at the front desk, nobody paid attention to us until I asked "Are you open?" Someone mumbled "Almost." We waited while people shifted around and about 12:15 someone showed us to our table. Appetizers -- brussels sprouts and slider -- were great. Gumbo was average: sauce too thick and not very tasty. Our waiter was lovely!
We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! The oxtail was amazing! So was the shrimp! Yum!!
The lemonade was awful, I believe it was made to order and tasted like water with lemon. The pineapple mocktail also lacked sugar. The food and service was excellent.
This was some of the best food I’ve ever had! The ox tail melted in our mouths and the goat shoulder was amazing, too. Our waitress was so nice and explained everything on the menu for us. 10/10 recommend and cannot wait to go back!
A splendid combination of African and Caribbean delights.
I am very happy to have received this survey. I was in the process of writing to you about the experience myself and my date had on February 13th. While this was not my 1st visit, it was for my party of 1 in attendance with me. The staff was simply amazing, to include the waitress that made us feel special on this momentous occasion for us. She went the “extra” mile so that we never had a chance to want for anything and her suggestions of the menu & wine listing was very good. I had arranged for this night to be a remembrance for my date, and the restaurant’s expertise made it even more than I could have imagined.
Thank you so, the service was exemplary !
We're coming back!
I was surprisingly disappointed by the food and presentation of it when I went. Additionally it was too expensive for what it was.
I enjoyed the sunset at the warf from my corner window table. Loved Old Friend Cocktail-rather pricey at $18. Spiced pork belly was enhanced by the accompanying hot pepper sauce. Liked the slight crunch of the short rib though the glaze was a tad sweet but a touch of afore mentioned hot sauce solved the problem. Accompanying roti & jallop rice were great sides to the dish. Plantain bun crusted with whole pecans topped with caramel sauce was great finish to the very peasant meal. Lulu was an observant perfectly gracious host. She even send me off with a little container of the hot pepper sauce.
Fantastic service with detailed explanation of dishes. Also very unique food.
Wonderful loved the food and drinks
Great food and service. A bit pricey for the quantity of food. But would definitely be back.
Loved the Jamaican/African fusion menu. I ordered the Jerk Chicken and it was pretty good. Didn’t like that the jerk sauce was on the side, but everything else was good. My favorite thing I ordered was the Brussels Suya, delicious side or appetizer! Intimate setting, cute for a date night or intimate dinner with friends!
Food was very disappointing, especially given the outrageous prices. The mushroom appetizer was far from appetizing and the carrot salad was tasteless. Further, the server acted like she could have cared less about serving us and was not at all attentive throughout our meal. Never again will I go there!
Difficult to find the entry (through the hotel). Bartender was very welcoming and knowledgeable/professional. Good martini. We all enjoyed our food. Next time I will ask to be seated in a quieter area. When entertaining someone with a foreign accent, it can be tricky to understand what is being said. It was exacerbated by the sound level. I am looking forward to visiting again, in warm weather, when the Wharf is more lively.
It was my son’s 21st birthday that day and we decided to try Kith/Kin. It did not disappoint and we were very pleased with the food and service. The manager and server made sure that we would have a wonderful experience— and we did! Thank you very much for a lovely evening.
Food was good but not great. The atmosphere felt like a hotel restaurant. It lacks personality.
Great birthday dinner celebration. Service was too slow.
We were a party of 5 and everyone was satisfied with their selections to include one in our party who was a vegetarian - there was something for all. Great location and ambiance. Wait staff was good in the beginning of the meal but a little less so attentive as the evening went on. Good work by the out front staff in handling reservations and last minute changes, they were friendly and accommodating. Food was full of flavor and presented well. Of note, it is expensive night out so don’t be surprised by their pricing. I would return to this restaurant.
Unfortunately they really don’t have any lunch options for vegetarians anymore. I had a tiny salad that cost more than my friend’s huge sandwich it was very delicious, but I was lucky I had a big breakfast that day.
the food was heavy and spicy but delicious. ordered four dishes and that was plenty. the waiter staff were very nice and professional.
I love the relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would like to return to try more dishes. Service was very friendly,
I am never disappointed with Kith/Kin. The service and food are consistently the best. I cannot stop ordering the brussel sprouts and curry goat. It is spectacular every time.
