   Fantastic meal - new menu is incredible and will have to come back again and again so can work thru all the dishes. Service is great. Friendly, helpful, professional all in a nice relaxed and very welcoming manner.

   We were a party of four. Starters were good. Main courses - fish (pollock) was way too over battered (twice as much batter as fish). Other fish course (cod loin) was over salted. Burgers were nice.

   We took some friends who had not eaten in Hitchin before to Kite and we all thought the food was fantastic. It's always a good sign when you look at the menu and think I could eat everything on there!

    Lovely old pub building but refreshed and updated interior. Food is really very good, extremely tasty. Regularly changing menu, very well presented. Staff are friendly and helpful.

    Perfect choice for our anniversary meal. The food was delicious, beautifully presented with a great menu. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, and really made an effort to make us feel special for our anniversary. Would definitely go again!

    We chose from the new set menu. The bread that was served with the duck terrine smelt burnt & tasted burnt, this was replaced with a slightly less burnt slice! The sticky toffee was good but could have been warmer. Otherwise very good especially the fish and chips. Service was friendly & efficient.

    Chicken and tarragon pie was delicious as was the Kite trifle . Two classic dishes done really well . Service was attentive. Great atmosphere in the outside garden on a lovely sunny day . Well worth the trip out.

    Absolutely divine gastro pub centrally located within the gorgeous historic centre of Hitchin. Delicious lunch ~ beautifully prepared, presented + served and extremely deliciously devoured. Beautifully decorated indoor + outdoor space with a tranquil relaxing ambience with lots of sparkles and floristry. Superb menu, cocktail and wine list = we will return to sample some more tasty treats and enjoy such super service. Thank You for a most enjoyable lunch

    We had a wonderful evening at the Kite. The new head chef is producing incredible quality food and the service was excellent. We enjoyed the scallops, pork loin and the gnocchi (a vegan masterpiece!) The evening was made even more special with a delicious bottle of French sauvignon and a nice selection of cheese to round the meal off. We would definitely go back to try their new menu next week, but it has a lot to live up to!

    Had the scallops to start which were outstanding followed by the burger which was nice. Menu was limited and focused. Ambience was a little beige and felt like being in a front room. Never felt like that there before. Maybe it’s just be. Service was excellent as were the kir royale’s.

    We enjoyed our Sunday roast, beef was really tender. Wasn’t so keen on trifle bit of an odd combo, but that just my preference. We noticed on leaving that some tables had petit fours on, but we never received anything. I wrote the next day to ask if they were a Mother’s Day treat. A lovely girl called Jess wrote a prompt reply apologising for us not receiving them and offered to send me something as an apology. Tonight I got an email from the lovely Jess saying there was a small parcel on my doorstep. And there were two cakes waiting to be consumed. How nice is that, what a service? Thank you Jess and the team x

    Decided to treat my Mum to a meal here for Mother's Day having fined here many times before and always having been impressed. This occasion was no different, friendly service, possibly the best Sunday Roast we've ever had - the cauliflower cheese was incredible and delicious desserts. Cost was reasonable too for what we had, the roast portions were generous! The only slightly minor point was that when one of our meals was placed on the table the plate (which only had a small ledge around the edge) was tipped and gravy poured all over the table but no attempt was made to clean up the mess until the plate was collected at the end of the meal, but this was not the end of the world!

    Absolutely superb! Food was incredible - we had the scallops for starters, then my husband had the fish and I had the pork. Delicious! Staff were amazing. Gave us a complimentary glass of Prosecco for our anniversary and then a wonderful desert plate wishing us a happy anniversary. The staff were so attentive the whole time and really friendly! We will definitely be back!!!

    I took my folks here for lunch today. After a bit of thumbing with tables we got our table. Service from the very young staff was ok and took our orders and the drinks and meals soon followed. Was only two meats on offer on the menu (beef and pork) Portions were on the meagre side and I was quite shocked and disappointed to be served with semi raw shop bought Aunt Bessie style roast potatoes. They certainly were not home made cooked on site roast tatties, and when you’re paying £21 for a roast I’d expect them to be. The two slices of beef I did have, once the fat trimmed off the sides was also disappointing. At Just under £96 for 3 roasts and 3 drinks is scandalous. Needless to say we shall not be returning anytime soon.

    Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on our Sunday roasts and I'm sorry to hear that it didn't meet expectations. All of our food is cooked to order and we certainly do not use frozen or pre-cooked potatoes on our Sunday roasts. We're investigating what has occurred on your table as clearly there's been some kind of failure on our part if they have left you with this impression.     Charming gastro pub in the heart of Hitchin. Fantastic location for Sunday lunch or mid-week treat, great quality food, good service and a relaxed atmosphere. Can't recommend it enough.

    I ordered the Pork Roast which generally tasted very nice but I was a bit disappointed with the temperature of the food which did spoil the meal, I think the gravy should have come out piping hot. My wife had the mushroom roast and said it tasted it a bit sweet and when I tried it I actually thought the mushroom tasted burnt which we both thought was the case. Last time we had a roast at the Red Kite it was a fantastic meal and I complemented on the roast potatoes a couple of years ago but I don't think they were quite as nice as last time but still nice potatoes. I have put no below to would I recommend the Red Kite to a friend as

    I have had the Sunday lunch at The Kite a number of times, the food and service is always very good. They also let well behaved dogs in which is great! I would definitely recommend!
