Kitchenette is a French restaurant, which uniquely combines slick and modern with classic and comfortable. From our food to the setting to the music we play; we are committed to having fun.
We offer upscale and updated traditional dishes. Every ingredient is fresh from the market and treated with respect and care. Every presentation is clean and relevant.
Our decor denotes our cuisine with contemporary furnishings resting in antiquity; century-old wooden floors, leather banquette, Italian bent-wood chairs, crispy white napkins on solid maple tables, unique artisanal lighting and antique barstools all surrounded a shiny new open kitchen.

Kitchenette Ratings and Reviews
Kitchenette used to be an ok-foodie destination but new management has changed the nature of the restaurant...while keeping the old name. I thought i was going to the "old" place, and i did not realize I had booked at a stale/over-priced french cuisine restaurant. It unfortunately cost us a nice evening. Prices are high, food was well below-average, and ambiance horrible. Cannot imagine they survive much longer, place was "dead' on a Friday night, and I was the sucker.
Every morsel was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Four of us dined and each of us "ooh-ed" and "aah-ed" with every bite. The smoked trout appetizer was a hit. The scallops entrée was yums. Staff were attentive. Portions were perfectly sized. The wine list is fairly priced and the cocktails were ample and different. The restaurant has a very cool vibe. We'll be back!
They triesd very hard! We had a lovely, not exceptional, dinner here while visiting from out of town. Some of the food was very, very good (gazpacho, chocolate desert, wine), and some was mediocre at best (beef filet). The atmosphere and personal attention from staff was lovely but it took a very long time to get the check and pay and leave (they were not busy). I would go back and recommend knowing it may be hit or miss taste-wise.
Loved the menu, delicious take on classic French with a homey side. Bread was fabulous, loved the open kitchen feel and the neighborhood ambience - family friendly. Wish to have had more customers there when we went, as it felt a tad lonely. Overall nice and would return.
Kitchenette was absolutely one of the best food experiences we have ever had. Tucked along the waterfront on the edge of the village it was a quiet unassuming restaurant that held many surprises. The duck terrine amuse bouche was delicious as was the duck fois gras starter both of which were also beautifully presented. And then came the steak and scallops and the tomahawk quebec lamb shank. Both were beautiful, with sauces that made us lick our fingers, the meat falling off the lamb shank, the accompaniments perfect in their choices and preparation. you must get the lamb shank if nothing else it was life changing. Paired with some amazing wine and followed by a local cheese plate we could not have asked for anything more. It was perfection.
Quite simply, this was the best meal I've had in two years and without question the best dining I experienced in my five days (and many meals) in Montreal. The setting itself is quietly elegant, comfortable, clean, sleek. My server, Matthieu was absolutely fantastic - friendly, without being too friendly, thoroughly on top of every element of the meal, delighted when I took obvious pleasure in what I was tasting. Every aspect of the meal was perfection itself. In fact, I haven't tasted such sublime flavors since dining at Le Jules Verne in Paris. The amuse-bouche was lovely, the bread - one whole grain, the other a petit pain - perfect, served with a fine tapenade and butter. The foie gras, served with a compote de pommes was perfectly presented with warm brioche. Every bite sublime. Then, the dourade .... over a bed of creamy white beans. Ecstatic is the only word that comes to mind. I should add, also, that every plate was artfully arranged, with a dabbling of micro greens here and there and with tremendous attention to detail. Dessert was a gorgeous creme brûlée.. Though the wines by the glass were limited to two whites, two reds, each was a really lovely choice and worked perfectly with my meal. I really cannot say enough about how wonderful this restaurant is and how fortunate I feel to have found it. My only regret is that I don't live in Montreal, because if I did, I'd dine at Kitchenette every week... it's THAT good.
It was a great experience. They treated me well. It was walkable from where I was staying. The only caveat was that I was not aware that they did not take American Express. This posed a problem as I had to go to my hotel to get my visa. If prepayment on Open Table had been required I would have had a better experience. I will give them another try when back in Montreal. They were not pretentious but knew their stuff about food, wine and providing a tasting menu experience.
This restaurant is simply outstanding. The owners bring the best of outstanding cuisine and outstanding service to Montreal. I have eaten there three times over the last two years each time I visit the city. I highly recommend the "tasting menu" which can be paired with wine (which I have done). Of the 27 courses I have eaten over my visits (yes 27!) I would be very hard pressed to describe any one course as less than outstanding. All of the ingredients are noticeably fresh and the presentation artistic. While I am not a wine expert, I have thoroughly enjoyed the pairing, and it has consistently enhanced each of the courses. I enjoy great dining experiences, and I have had the opportunity to enjoy them in many countries; I have to say this place is among the very best. In short, Kitchenette is not to be missed.
Food was extraordinary. Very creative combination of flavors and ingredients. Service was excellent. Prompt, courteous and attentive. In Montreal on vacation and stumbled onto this place. Was a highlight of the trip. We can't recommend enough. A lovely experience.
What an amazing way to kick off our vacation in Montreal! We all enjoyed the 9 course tasting menu. 9 courses?! What a wonderful taste journey and discovery of the chef's delectable skills. The food was so incredibly good. We were served so graciously and joyfully by everyone at the restaurant, from the moment we walked into the door until we left, nearly 2.5 hours later. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Merci beaucoup!
