Food was good!! But bad service 2 hour wait for food . Out of frozen drinks and all orders was missing something. I received my food after all 8 of my guest was done eating and I received appetizers and food at same time. Everything is too expensive for the portions. We’ll never go back
The food was great, the drinks were slow and the service was slooowwww. Servers received a 20% tip no matter what so they are slow. Dirty dishes sat on our table way too long even after the server saw them several times. Manager walking around recording people but no waivers are signed when you walk in.
Work on improving appetizers and side dishes like the greens, not good
The food was too salty and one of the waiters didn’t come back after asking me how was my dinner
Great ambiance for big party’s great photo background and the food in drinks were very good 10/10 must recommend
Loud rap music. Crab cakes lacked flavor and crab meat. Drinks over priced. $21 to $37. Emploees standing around paying more attention to their phone than customers. Emploees who just finished their shift sitting at the bar drinking and eating complaing about the long hard day they had. G
The food was salty an overpriced priced i will not be going back the only
Thing good there was my service young man name Julius he was awesome
Really great experience here! Large portions, delicious food, friendly and prompt service as well.
I loved it! Great food and ambiance. The menu needs descriptions though!
This was my second time. I came at noon but didn't receive my God food until 1pm. There were barely anyone in there this time. But the first time I went my service was excellent I don't know why it took so long this time. But overall the food is great.
First off …. That Kitchen + Kocktails food was horrible …. The food was cold coming out … then the food didn’t have no flavor at all .. My reservation was at 8:30 & by 9:03 I was in my car driving home disappointed. The Strawberry Lemonade & Seafood Gumbo was good tho. I could drink that all day but ISSSSA NOOO FOR ME. Maybe I’ll go back to try brunch. $155 dollars wasted on dinner. Need to improve
Food was excellent. Took a long time for food to get to our table though. Need to improve wait time for food.
The drinks and food were very late. We didn’t get our apps till I was done with my meal and the rinks came almost hour after we sat down. Didn’t have time to order but one drink.
Even with mishaps we had an amazing time. The food was top notch! Can’t wait to go back!
Awful. Our server tried his best and was as professional as one could be in such an establishment, but our overall experience was lack luster. Mass confusion everywhere. We were approached by other diner telling us to run for the hills- we wish we would have headed the warnings.
Food took forever to come out- it was over seasoned and was not presented as advertised. Our order was incorrect- only further delaying what seemed like forever. Goodness- a whole 2 hours for friend chicken is absolutely ridiculous.
This experience increased my anxiety; I will not be returning.
We had a party of 3. We waited over an hour after we placed our order. We looked around and none of the tables had their food. Horrible service!! I was over charged. The manager said he would fix the bill. I waited another half an hour for the bill to be fixed and Im still waiting… I was there 24 hours ago. The food was delicious but not worth the horrible service.
A little nervous due to the numerous negative reviews. I'll begin with the good. Our table was ready upon arrival for 1:00 reservation on a Sunday. When my wife asked to be seated at nearby booth instead of a table, the hostess quickly obliged. Our server, Olivia, was very pleasant and friendly. We were acknowledged almost immediately after being seated. She returned after a few minutes and took our order. The menu offers a vegan option which pleased my wife but it would be nice if KK offered TWO vegan options and not just one. The collard greens are made with smoked turkey and the black-eyed peas likewise and there isn't an indication that both items can be prepared meatless. I had the fried chix, wife had the vegan bowl and added grilled shrimp. It arrived blackened. Had to scrape the seasoning off. The vegan bowl was very good, only complaint was there is more rice than veggies. We tried the pecan waffles, it was excellent. Not a fan that a party of two has gratuity added without notice. I don't require that decision made without permission. To ensure of this process, our receipt was returned no to sign but just the customer copy. And our server was never to be heard from again. Undecided if I would return.
Although the ambiance was great, the timing could have been improved. My mentee and I waited approximately 2 hours from the time we arrived until the time that we received our food. It didn’t feel worth the wait when considering the cost of food. The food was good, but not necessarily outstanding. That coupled with the wait time for service made the experience just ok. I may attempt to go back on a less busy day, because I really want to support black owned businesses especially here in Chicago, however the timing of service has to improve.
They opened pass 10am. No warm greeting or a simple smile. Server not great at all. Came in a when they opened the door and floor still had plenty of trash and crumbs in the chairs.
Manager did come around and speak a couple of times.
Waffle was not completely done.
After seeing mixed reviews I decided to visit for myself with two friends. The wait time to be seated wasn't bad at all. We waited maybe 15 minutes after checking in for our reservation. Unfortunately, that was the quickest part of the visit. We were seated and waited for drinks for 30 minutes. We were unable to order drinks preferred as they were unavailable. Although this is the case, once we received our drinks they were good as far as taste was concerned. We finally ordered maybe 45 mins. into being seated. The menu has a decent selection but the prices are a stretch especially considering portion sizes. If the restaurant met the expectations of a restaurant with similar pricing then maybe I wouldn't have minded. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not meet those expectations. We arrived at 8:55 p.m., was seated around 9:20 pm., received drinks around 9:50ish, and finally received food around 10:40 ish. Once receiving the food, there were items missing. We were informed that one item ordered was no longer available. We weren't given utensils and a few other issues. We ate what we could and waited for our waitress to return. Before she could return we were approached by a male that appeared to be the manager (Mr. Spears). He asked about our experience as we looked dissatisfied. We explained our problems and he worked to address them. We also assured him that our waitress was doing well accomodating us as she could. While there were things that were beyond her (our waitress) control, there were a few things that could have been done better such as attentiveness to tables, bringing utensils, knowledge of what is available, checking in more often, etc. We continued our visit and didn't receive a check until 11:37. I was hopeful that my experience would be different from others I know that have visited. Unfortunately, this time wasn't a good experience. I will however say that food was flavorful. Grateful for that at least.
My husband and I needed a date night and we had tried to get reservations but it was constantly booked. I tried again and was able to get in. Loved the ambiance. Our waiter KC was very personable and knowledgeable. The hostess stand needs improvement. We checked in and the hostess asked us to wait for another person who would help us. After waiting awhile I asked if we could wait at the bar. Another hostess checked and then we were taken to our seats. The first hostess never checked on us, we were just standing there. The dress code was definitely not enforced. We got to our seats. The table had crumbs on it as well as the chairs so I just cleaned them out myself. Our waiter, KC was very personable and knowledgeable. He made the rest of the night enjoyable. My food was wonderful. I love my portion size. I had the fish and grits. My husband had the smothered chicken and mashed potatoes. He loved the food but the portion size didn't compare to mine. He was still hungry and ate the cornbread as a filler. I love the black plates but the finger smudges are a turn off. That's why restaurants use white. Just a fYI. I would go back but it wouldn't be a regular spot due to the prices. I wish the owner much success though.
We waited 2hrs for water “they had No glasses for water” they brought us food with no silverware waited 20mins for silverware, waffles never came, food got cold waiting on silverware smh the food was good when we eventually got it except for dry pork chops!!!!Sorry but we won’t be back!! The manger made it right but still we won’t be back!!!
Loved the vibe and the food. My server was great. We did wait a while for the food and the drinks are really good but a bit over priced. Music was great as well. The peach cobbler waffles were everything!!
Servers needs to know what’s being served and what’s not being served . She came back to my table at least 4x saying what we were trying to order was not being served, she then asked what else would we like , we told her , then she came back and told us that’s not being served either. she did this like 4x . She was clueless. Service was horrible . I had my food and nobody else did, I had to eat since I didn’t want it to get cold so when they’re food came out I didn’t have anything left barely . The food was tasty but it’s the service for me .
We had an awesome meal! The food was delicious. Our waitress was on point. It is a beautiful restaurant, nice decor. Nice music. Definitely needs to come to the DMV!
The waiter was HORRIBLE!!!!!! He spent more time trying to get the a woman phone number rather than do his d@mn job and take our order. He took our drink order then disappeared for dang near 30 min before he took our food order.
Arrived a few minutes late for our 7PM reservation on 11/26 but called ahead to let greeters know we were running late. Upon arrival it was so disorganized. Greeters didn’t know who was waiting, who had a reso. I was cut in front of by a woman while speaking with the greeter. Finally, we were asked “hi top or low top table?” to which my wife and I replied low top table. We were seated at a table in the very back of the restaurant. No set ups on the table. Only the QR code. A woman server approached the table 5 minutes later with waters and mumbled something, then left as quickly and abruptly as she approached. Never to be seen again. We waited 15-20 minutes for someone to help us and take our order but people kept walking by us as if we weren’t even there. We got up and left. Very disappointing as we were anxious to try the food. We won’t be back! Also, as an aside…the demographic of patrons and staff last night was almost exclusively African American. While I certainly do not have an issue with that, I think possibly being the only Caucasian guests in the restaurant may have factored into the lack of attention we received during our experience.
Food wasn’t good the lady who seated up was rude. We asked a host could we seat at a booth but the refused. Then we asked could we still at the different table but they said those were for reservations but we had a reservation. Will no be back
Getting better with every visit!
Food was good. A little over seasoned. The food was a bit expensive. However, I would go back though.
Pricey. I recommend the Cajun Chicken Noodle Soup. the spices were on point. It was spicy, flavorful and delicious. I also recommend the Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita. Instead of salt on the rim of the glass, there was a spicy/semi-sweet combination on it. The Crab Cake was disappointing. It's consistency was soggy instead of flakey and I needed a knife to cut it.
Double charged on the receipt. Excuse was PRINTER MALFUNCTIONED when was the same excuse they gave the last time i went. So this is obviously their “go to” excuse for any issue. Done trying to patronize this establishment.
Terrible service waited over an hour for our food. We were sat down quickly but had to flag down a waiter after waiting for 20 mins to get service. This waiter then past us to another waiter who spent more time laughing and playing with other workers then servicing our table. He was running around chasing workers basically playing tag.
My food was cold I ordered the dream eggs I knew the eggs would be cold but I thought the shrimp would have been warm to hot but absolutely cold. The first order that I placed was for the shrimp and grits it was cold then I ordered the lamb chops with the yams the lamb chops were warm yams were good I didn’t get my drink until the second dinner order came out, I also had a take out order which was the chicken and waffles, the syrup was placed on the waffles, so once I made back to my destination which was 4 hours away the waffles was soggy and the chicken was dry. To top it off the prices from online was different from the restaurant, I was told the online menu is for Texas, even if it’s a part of the OpenTable
Kitchen + Kocktails offers an exquisite experience of delightful cuisine. The Fish & Grits were AMAZING and the hand crafted Kocktails were made to perfection. Our food experience coupled with our Amazing server made the Celebration of Life (my friend bday) memorable.
Drinks were good, food was ok. This would be more of a place I would come to have drinks on the weekend or after work. Would not come for the food
Just a little pricey. Other than that, I have no complaints.
To damn expensive it was 2 of us our bill was over 300
I was excited to try this place. However, after placing drink orders, it took about 25 minutes to get them and almost 35 minutes to receive our app. Our entrees took even longer and they were subpar. The sides come in small portions and expensive. I went on a weekday and was disappointed by the service.
The waitress was very nice, the food was ok. I order the surf and turf and it came out cold. My lamb chops were cold and the manager said it’s because we ordered them medium well. I’ve ordered medium meat several times from places and they didn’t come out cold. Also, the deviled eggs with shrimp was literally just a boiled egg with a grilled shrimp on top. Then when it was time to pay, we wanted to split our check( just me and my friend), so the waitress came back and told us they had a new system update and we’re having an issue with the bills getting modified z we waited for about 30mins just for them to be able to fix the bill and the manager had an attitude when I told her waiting that long was ridiculous and my parking meter expired her response was well it’s going to be expired longer with us still sitting here talking. Very nonchalant and rude manager, all the waitresses were nice however.

Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
