   I had a 3:00pm reservation and arrived at 2:50p. Hostess said that I had about an hour wait, regardless of the reservation. At 4:00p, a friend of mine came in with a 4p reservation and seated immediately. By this time we had drinks and appetizers and the whole bar of people had turned over. Went back to the hostess stand and learned we had never been checked in. Long story short, we were refunded the bill because we still didn’t have food by 5p and didn’t want to stay. I’m sure the food would have been great as the appetizers and cocktails were great. But the service was horrible in regards to the reservation I made weeks in advance and confirmed multiple times. Not coming back…

   The food was really good and the portions were satisfying. The mimosa wasn’t that satisfying as I ordered a flavored mimosa and I couldn’t taste the mango. It took some time for the food to arrive at our table and it wasn’t hot in temperature. The prices are a bit questionable for the value of the food and drinks. But I did enjoy the visit overall. The place is nicely decorated and the music was a great addition.

   The customer service was very nice. Attentive and friendly staff. The restaurant was extremely loud. The music was so loud that it was hard to hear your own conversation. The food was subpar, especially compared to the unrealistic price point. I had the blackberry margarita (2/5 very syrupy), lamb chop breakfast (charged a $2 up charge for cheese eggs which is completely fine, but the shredded cheese was just sprinkled on top like a garnish, breakfast potato’s were dry and under seasoned) and the deviled eggs (5/5). Overall, the experience was just okay, again the staff was phenomenal, but due to the food I do not see myself visiting again.

   First time here for my best friend’s birthday and it was honestly the best!! The food was really good, but the cocktails (like seriously, the cocktails!!!!) were SO good. I had such a great time. Only thing that bugged me a bit was the wait—we had a 3:00pm reservation but didn’t get seated until 3:25. Overall, solid 8/10. Big shoutout to our server and host (ugh I wish I remembered their names!!).

   The food was not as good as we thought it would be. We left early due to a bug crawling on the wall while we were sitting down beginning to eat our food. The manager was very apologetic but they only took off two entrees even though a bug was killed literally over our plates.

   We’ve been to Chicago 4 times and visited this place 5. We are from NOLA. If you want soul food, book a ticket to Chicago. And not just for the best fried chicken, cauliflower, greens, cornbread… but the friendly smiles, service and atmosphere that will make you feel like family. Don’t miss the frozen drinks especially the flaming s’mores cocktail. O my Lawd. Seriously. Yall come.

   Not the best…not the worst… Monday evening reservation at 5:00pm for party of 4 and the place was nearly empty as we arrived when the restaurant opened. Advertised as “high energy” happy hour but the music was really hard rap with lots of curse words. They were nice enough to change the music. The appetizers were good and the egg rolls were a “10.” The biggest complaint was the entrees were too salty. We sent one dish back as we couldn’t even eat it. Ashley the server was awesome. I won’t recommend this restaurant until after I return (maybe) 6-9 months later. Your competitor in Hyde Park in terms of the deliciousness of the food has you beat hands down. Photos and decor are nicer at this place but you can’t eat photos….
