Food was very good, but fairly expensive for what you get (but the Wharf as a whole is like that). Service was excellent and super friendly. Neat space, seating upstairs too.
Kirwan's is our go-to place for any celebration, happy hour, get together. We've been going since it first opened and we love it! Best fish and chips and chicken pot pie you'll ever eat! Great food, great drinks, great staff, great location!
I come here for business meetings all the time! Keep coming back.
Typical Irish pub but by far the worst chicken pot pie I’ve ever tasted. Also, it was odd that they gave us a plate with two pieces of bread on it (right when we sat down) because there were three of us. And, they didn’t even give us bread plates
Great Irish Cuisine
It was very good.
A great atmosphere with authentic decor imported from Ireland. A great menu with varied selections. I had the shepherds pie. The lamb was shredded not ground and a lollipop chop was adorned on top. Great touch and great flavor. My friends had the chicken pot pie, and they raved over that. Irish coffee at the end topped off a great evening, and the Irish coffee was topped off with very rich cream!
This is my second visit to Kirwan’s and next time I am in DC I will probably go there again.
Great food, atmosphere and friendly staff
We sat in the back bar and John was our bartender/server. He gave us outstanding drink and food recommendations. All of his suggestions were spot in. Fantastic meal and atmosphere. Great food ....the lamb stew was amazing.
Overall good experience and appreciate the patience of the Hostess to accommodate our reunion of friends. We had the best waitress and will ask for her services again. Her name is "Tiki". Great experience and will definitely go back!
Table and ambience was fine. Our waitress forgot one of our orders and instead of coming by to let us know she just never came back to our table. In fact we had to ask another server to bring our check. We only saw our waitress once to take drink and food orders.
Love this place!!! Everything from the food to the service and ambiance is fantastic!!
Had reservations but had to request an acceptable table away from front door. Waiter talked too much. Kitchen forgot pickle on side as is normally provided.
Took my 89 year old father here for his birthday. We loved the food & Atmosphere. Taylor stole the show- she could not have been more helpful, fun & nice!
Service was excellent, however, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered a BLT with a side salad. Although the Irish bacon was very good, the toasted bread was soggy. No excuse sense the salad was in a separate bowl and the BLT was the only thing on the plate.
Better than expected Irish food! The burger was excellent, the meat was fresh and had spices blended. At 7 ounces it was just the right size-- huge but not insane. The steak and cheese was very good. My mom reported the chicken pot pie was amazing. The only complaint was the kids noodles dish didn't have a side and didn't have enough noodles. The kids chicken tender looked like a far better value.
My waitress was really nice, but she seemed like she had a long day, which was understandable , because it was lunch time. I had fish & chips,, and my friend had the steak sandwich, which he tore up, so that’s a good sign. The drinks were great! Overall I enjoyed myself, and would love to come back & try brunch
Very generous portions
I went for lunch with a friend. We both had fish and chips so I don't have a broad perspective on this place. The food was pretty good. The fish was in nice big chunks. The breading was a bit soggy and greasy. The chips were very crunchy on the outside and nice and tender inside. Service was not very attentive. It was also a very loud place. We were on the second floor and it was a little hard to talk. I'd go back again, but I can't rave about it.
Wanted a celebratory feeling place to go on the Wharf w/ good food & gluten free options & this was it! Wonderful! Only negative is no elevator to take to the upstairs.
The chicken pot pie was amazing. It was very quiet for a Friday lunchtime but we enjoyed ourselves. Will be back but without the car this time. The parking costs are outrageous.
A leisurely afternoon lunch with Excellent fish & chips, beer, and soup. Waterfront location was lovely. Noise:Very little. Lovely service.
We were here with a group of 8, including a couple kids, during cherry blossom "peak bloom," and they were so kind to put us upstairs at a big table. Our server, James, was lovely, and we really appreciated that he allowed one of us to use his phone charger while we were there. That's service! Five of us had the clam chowder, which is really good, and love the grainy bread they serve with it (wouldn't have minded a second slice, though). We did have one glitch - one of the meals did not come out until the rest of us were done eating. We were told that the kitchen accidentally ruined the plate of fish and chips, and they were making a second one, but it still seemed to take way too long to get that second plate out. They took that off the bill, which we greatly appreciated. All this said, the fish and chips were DELICIOUS. We really like this place, and we'll be back.
Average but service and food were very goidy
Great venue to meet friends and have fun. Beautiful interior with 3 bars. Great service and food. Highly recommended.
It was okay
We've been here several times for drinks, lunch or dinner, but recently went for Sunday brunch. The traditional Irish breakfast was fabulous, as was the friendly service.
We were a party of 10, they have have accommodate us in a really convenient spot.
The service was really good, the food super good and we wait the dishes just a few minutes
Food was average, friendly staff but service was average, barely filled my water once. I mentioned it was a special occasion, my bosses birthday and asked if they could do a little dessert or something and they totally forgot. Probably wouldn’t come back again, much better restaurants in the wharf than this place.
Kirwan's - just always good. Great food and service. Thank you!
Kirwan's is totally okay. Not a truly special place. But decent food with beautiful river views and nice outdoor seating. Prices good.
Basic bar fare in a pub environment, as advertised. I got the Caesar salad, and to her credit our server asked about anchovies and any other ingredients that I might not want ("Some people don't like carrots, so we tell everyone it's got carrots in it.) The guy I was meeting had been there before and got the fish and chips, which looked like a great choice, with big steak fries that were cooked perfectly. Good job!
Went to Kirwan's for a business lunch. Food was great, but not served as described on menu. Bread said pumpernickel and it came on rye. Also our water glasses were not refilled when empty without us having to ask.
We had a delicious brunch in a relaxed and very pleasant environment. The service was just right - friendly and attentive without unnecessary interruptions. This is not my first time there and won't be my last.
Great service! Good salads for lunch during the week and a wonderful brunch on Sunday.
We came for Sunday Brunch. Our bartender was our waiter. He was very open and willing to create a drink for us that was not on the menu, an Irish Mimosa! He was very friendly. The service was excellent! The food came out quickly and was very hot and fresh. The ambiance of the back room/pub was very nice. Will definitely return.
My major complaint is the room we were seated in. Small room off of the upstairs bar. The tables and chairs don’t work. Get rid of the absurdly oversized chairs. They are a nuisance. You know it. Deal with it. And the speakers in that room are too loud for the tiny space. Kill one of them.
Food was poor quality. Server was not very friendly.
We arrived at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon and discovered they only serve from the brunch menu and the offerings were not great. Steak and eggs was mediocre. Granola was enjoyed by one of our party and the 11 year old got a burger that was good. The Bloody Marys are good!
We had a great brunch at Kirwan's. It wasn't too crowded and we sat upstairs at a table with a TV so we could watch golf, and very comfortable seating. The bloody mary's were excellent, and so were the Bailey's waffles!
