Kirby's Prime Steakhouse - Southlake Ratings and Reviews
Kirby’s is a favorite restaurant for my husband and me. The atmosphere, food and service are excellent. We went for happy hour last Wednesday and sat in the bar area. When the waitress came to our table, she remembered what we’d had last time, which was about two weeks prior to that visit. And she had waited on us only once! She was great, as is Max. Always a great time at Kirby’s!
Went here for a wedding anniversary dinner with my wife. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever. Kirby's staff went out of their way to make the event a special one for my wife and me. We will be visiting again for other occasions or for just the occasional dinner without the kids.
Not going to waste your time with a long review. This steakhouse is just what it says it is......Prime! A perfect evening, perfect service, perfect atmosphere and by far the most perfect food in the area. Can't wait to return. You won't find better in the DFW area.
Everything from the wine (Caymus) to the dessert was excellent. Bone in filet, cooked perfectly medium rare, Sea Bass was tender and flavorful, creamed Spinach was good (although heavy on the garlic), onion rings were enormous and crunchy, macaroni and cheese was a tad sharp but still wonderful. Dessert of Pecan Pie with Cinnamon ice cream, birthday creme brulee, and cherriee cheesecake was delightful end to a GIGANTIC meal! Service was attentive but not annoying. And they remembered that it was a birthday celebration. Would definitely go again.
I had a friend in town from Australia and wanted a nice place with good food and the ability to actually talk and hear each other. Being a Monday night, I thought Kirby's would fit the bill.
Service was average, or maybe a little below average, for an establishment of this kind of price point. Nothing specifically was wrong with the service but it just seemed "forced" and uncomfortable for me a bit. Like I said, nothing specifically went wrong so maybe it was all just me. But, the thing that does stand out in my mind is nothing notable or exceptional happened either.
The food was great; however, I had asked for my cowboy rib eye to be prepared black and blue. The steak came out very rare, which I like, but there was no char to it at all indicative of a black and blue preparation. No, I didn't send it back because I'm not sorry enough to do that but I couldn't understand how a $$$$ steakhouse couldn't get that one part right.
Otherwise it was a very good visit.
We went here for our anniversary. Several members of the staff wished us a Happy Anniversary. I ordered a French Martini. I often have problems getting the right mix but my drink was excellent. The bread was warm and crusty and the house salad dressing was great. Our steaks were good but we have had better at other upscale steak houses. We were given a complimentary desert that was out of this world. It had two different types of ice cream on an oreo crust. At the end of the meal we received a gift card for our anniversary which was a great touch. Our only major complaint was that our waiters and even the bus boy were all business. The service was good but very impersonal.
Kirby's is known for its steaks and rightfully so. My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Kirby's and her 7oz filet was excellent. However, my choice for a decadent fancy dinner out is sea bass. My meal of sea bass and lobster risotto was one of the best dining out experiences I can remember having. It transcended tasty and pushed well passed delicious! If you are in the mood for a wonderful meal with that someone special, I highly recommend Kirby's Steakhouse. And try the excellent sea bass and lobster risotto ;)
We chose Kirby's to celebrate a very special birthday for my wife. When I made reservations, I requested a quiet area so we could talk and also told them it was a birthday dinner. When we arrived, she was greeted with a "Happy Birthday" greeting and we were seated at a quiet, corner table.
The meal was wonderful and this location is my wife's favorite location for our special dining experiences!
Thanks for the wonderful experience!
I was a little disappointed when we first entered. I specifically made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary. After waiting several minutes for the host to accommodate a group who did not have a reservation, I was told it would be a little while before a table was ready. We ended up in a booth in the bar area. It wasn't an ideal atmosphere in regards to how I wanted to celebrate our anniversary dinner. BUT - our server made the difference. She was absolutely wonderful. The food was also outstanding. I do wish the restaurant would have catered more to those who took the time to make a reservation and shown up on time, instead of pushing us aside to jump through hoops to accommodate a party of 3 who did not have a reservation. We specifically wanted a special restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. I wouldn't say I left there feeling like we were particularly valued. The food was so outstanding, that I do intend to return. And, our server was really exceptional. I will lower my expectations for feeling like a reservation provides the privilege of being seated in the main dining room, or ahead of anyone who walks in off the street.
It has been a while since we went to Kirby's. Four of us went for Restaurant Week. I am not inferring we were treated like second class citizens. However, our food was prepared like it was a second class citizen. The scallops were room temperature and when they were replaced (when the host stopped by and asked how things were) it was pretty much the same thing. He mentioned it was not a hot dish, just served warm. Regardless - I couldn't eat them. Three of us ordered the strip Wellingtons and they had a very smokey flavor that was not mentioned on the menu. I didn't mind but One in the party hates smokey food and could not eat it. The host stopped by again and she mentioned the flavor and he said they were not smoked or any smoked flavoring added. The three of us tasted it and he did comp hers, but she wound up not having an entree. Finally, the bread pudding was just there. Compact squares of dense bread. The filet my wife ordered was wonderful, as were the salads. We did leave wondering if they didn't care about the Restaurant Week menu.
