Kirby's Prime Steakhouse - Southlake Ratings and Reviews
Kirby is a Great place to entertain guests, celebrate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and that job promotion that you just finally received!! The food is always amazing , with lots of options for the Vegetarian, Gluten free and Carnivores in the family. I have never walked away from Kirbys hungry or dissatisfied with my meal. My choice is always a thick filet minon and the steaks are so flavorful and cooked to your satisfaction. You need to come and enjoy the " Texas " restaurant with a flair and take an evening to enjoy a meal with someone special and relax, because you will be waited on by the best in the Grapevine and Southlake cities!!
My only real concern is the noise level. I find it difficult to have a conversation esp. when there is live music. I think this is because the facility is constructed of "hard" surfaces and the noise bounces around the room. Not sure how you would fix this BUT I would not have the live music in the back eating area by the restrooms. That location could be set aside for talking maybe.
My recent visit to Kriby's is not the restaurant I remember from my other visits in the past. I have not been there in about a year and really hate to leave negative feedback. I ordered the NY Strip steak and it was anything but Prime beef. My steak was closer to the quality you can buy at your local Kroger or Albertsons. Prime beef is comprised of the top 2 % of all beef manufactured in the United States and that's why is costs what it does. Paying $52 for that steak was a big disappointment. I have had great steaks from Kirby's in the past which makes me wonder what happened this time. I guess it can be the luck of the draw every now and again, but when it's you that gets the shortest straw it's not a good time.
On a positive not...I will say that my wife loved her cedar plank salmon and the sides were good as well. Our sever Jamie was also excellent. She was attentive but not bothersome. It's the great kind of service you expect from high end restaurants. Kirby's is lucky to have her.
We tried the dry-aged ribeye 🥩 & quickly determined that we’ll stick with the wet-aged ribeye 🥩 from now on. No fault of anyone ... it just has a different flavor composition. We were glad we tried it, though. It’s good to try new things. Plus, we love the service as much as the food. We’ll be back.
Went for spouses birthday. Everything was exceptional! We went early on a weeknight to avoid crowds (we do that at all restaurants, not just Kirby’s). It was not noisy at all. We had a lovely dinner and won’t wait so long before coming back! We don’t eat out as often as we used to. This location is convenient for us and the food is fabulous!
We had the most wonderful experience dining at Kirby’s. The waitress was so professional, friendly and helpful. We were looking for a special bottle of wine and our server as well as the manager went over and above to find it for us. The menu is substantial but only one open folder. We went a little crazy with appetizers and sides but each bite was heavenly. From crab cakes that make you sit up and say “yum” after each bite to fried asparagus covered in lobster, beef carpaccio, snow crab claws, calamari all of which were absolutely delicious. Our steaks, lamb chops (2 racks of 4) to the perfectly cooked planked salmon covered in a lobster wine sauce there were no complaints. The sides (large enough to make the whole table of 8 happy) were delicious as well. We had au gratin potatoes, lobster macaroni and cheese, broccoli, sautéed spinach, creamed corn (this could use some tweaking. just corn and cream), the creamed spinach was a bit too salty but the real show stopper was the mushroom risotto! Perfect in every way. A side dish of this could easily be a meal. I wish we had more to take home!! The restaurant and restrooms were impeccably clean. The restaurant itself is in an awkward spot but please make a point of visiting. You won’t regret it. I’m thrilled I have leftovers to have for lunch today! None of that risotto though it was gobbled up at the table..too bad. I’m not a food photo fanatic or I would have gorgeous mouth-watering photos for you. But our “go to” celebration restaurants are Al Biernat’s, Nick & Sam’s,
III Forks, and Bob’s. Try Kirby’s believe me it is definitely in our group of celebration dinners now.
Wanted an upscale meal this past weekend and we opted for Kirby’s in Southlake. We’ve been there before and haven’t been disappointed by the food. The filets were great. My daughter had her’s with lobster Oscar and loved the combo. The sides were also all delicious especially the lobster risotto (my favorite). All an all an excellent meal!
Had to wait a bit after our reservation time for our table, but got to enjoy the live music in the bar. Service in the bar was awesome. Once we got to our table, the service was just as great and prompt. Menu choices were well rounded. Food was delicious and more than enough. Great time with friends for New Years Eve!
made reservation 2 months ago,was confirmed 2 times and FIXED menu was never mentioned. 2 children and 4 adults. NYE is unique however,Kirbys is upscale and should have been able to handle to NYE traffic. Fixed menu had poor selections, portions were scaled down, lamb chops appetizer was dry,Ceasar salad had NO dressing, looked like it was dumped on the plate,Lobster was a great disappointment. Desert was good. Server appeared to be temporary and could not answer questions about the salad. Final bill over $550 for a mediocre meal. We were all very disappointed and will not go back in the near future. Plenty of good steak houses in the area.
The food was fine, the service was fine, the atmosphere was fine. BUT , compared to other area Steakhouses that have comparable pricing, everything was disappointing. I was deeply disappointed with the value. Nothing I experienced WOWED me. And at this price, I’m accustomed to being WOWED.
Kirby's Steakhouse is a classy place with good food and excellent staff. Our waiter Paul, was attentive and good at his job. The manager Thomas, came by our table and was very kind in sharing how the smoked tenderloin was prepared and even gave me some rub to try.
This was a birthday outing for my daughters and I cannot think of a better place to spend that special occasion. Thank you for making it special.
Hadn’t been in years, left wondering what took me so long to go back. Excellent selection of seafood for those of us non-red meat eaters. My husband loved the filet. The dishes on the a la cart menu are large enough for sharing with 4 people. Salad was fresh & crunchy. Delicious seasonal cocktails. We will be back!
Keith was our server and he was amazing, never rushed us, came around quite often to check on us. The food was great and the service was excellent. Very happy with our experience, this was our annual holiday family dinner at Kirby’s and we will definitely continue the tradition.
I must begin with the high points. Our waitress and the bartender who made me a special request were very good. The hostesses were very “Valley Girl”, I.E. a bit snobbish in how they acted and spoke. The scenery by the fireplace was lovely and I loved walking out and hearing/seeing live music going. We will come back for that and appetizers. But the steak was simply not on par with other local steakhouses and that was disappointing given it was our anniversary with three children we don’t get to go out very much. That said, everything has positives and negatives and we will return—just not for the steak.
Went to have a fune steak and hear a small trio play some music. Since my last visit they have built a glass wall to seperate the music area from the dining area. I talked to the manager about hetting seated so I could hear the music and he said they would “ pipe the music in” via speakers. Never heard a note till after dinner when my party went to the bar.
Everyone that ordered steaks got them raw no matter how it was ordered. Sent them back, and was returned dry and tough. I can cook a steak like I like it at home and done a much better job.
Goodbye Kirbys, never again.
The food was excellent but pricey. Started with the Shrimp Cocktail and then finished with a great Caesar salad. The wine was excellent as well as the cocktails. When the main course arrived, the Cowboy Cut Rib-eye was cooked as ordered which was medium rare. That is grilled on both sides with a red middle not pink. The waiter de-tailed the Lobster for both of us. My wife ordered the Surf and Turf and her Filet was cooked as ordered. The Lobster was perfect. We finished with dessert which was Crème Burle'. The ambience was not loud like I thought it would be after reading other reviews. Actually it was nice. The Glass enclosure by the door really sectioned off the noise. I was not happy that they did not have Chocolate Mousse. Overall it met my expectations and will enjoy it again. For what I paid for two, I should have taken home a side of beef.
-found a hair in my appetizer
-found a piece of plastic wrapper on my soup
-my streak was raw
-sent it back and got another one that was cooked perfect (by the way the rest of the table as finished eating) and it had no flavor
-my expectations for a $400 bill was just disappointing
-felt bad for waitress that her support was sub-par ( she did a really good job and took pride in what she was doing)
service was awesome and the food was as pretty as it was delicious. i’ve never seen a lobster tail so big and our server was great with accommodating our special night out, champagne on the house! we had such a great evening together and we owe kirby’s a great big thank you for starting our night off right.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, it was not a great meal or experience. This was a Tuesday night so it was not very busy, however the noise level was very high which was strange because of the small amount of people that was in the restaurant. We sat in a booth and had to talk in a raised voice to communicate across the table from each other. It took about 7 or eight minutes for the waiter to greet us after we sat down then after finally getting a chance to order some wine and cocktails it took another 10 to 15 minutes to get those drinks! I ordered their "Prime" Ribeye Steak, which was around $48.00 and had it cooked medium. The steak was not flavorful at all and was tough to chew, it also was only about 3/4" thick. Certainly not what I thought you would get at a "Prime" steakhouse. I have honestly had better steaks at Saltgrass and even the Roadhouse for a lot less money and the baked potato comes with those meals! This restaurant should be embarrassed to serve something like that at the prices they charged. I have dined at many "Prime" steakhouses, as most people have, and if you had all the restaurants in one place and they all displayed their Prime Ribeye Steak side by side, this one would be laughed at by all of the other chefs. However, the crabcake appetizer was good as well as the bread that we had to ask two times before we got. The dressing on the salad was good and is homemade which was a big deal at the original Kirby's on lower Greenville that was family owned. My family dined many times at the original Kirby's and I cannot recall having an inferior steak like this, I know that the Mr. Kirby would have never allow that to happen, but that is the difference in family pride and corporate profit. I rate this so low because it is not worth the money, you can get better meals for a lot less cost. They should be embarrassed using the Kirby name and reputation by putting out a meal like this.
We have celebrated our anniversaries in other steakhouses and thought we give Kirby a try. It was our 10th anniversary and we were looking forward to it.
The cowboy bone in ribeye steak my husband ordered has no flavor except for the char texture on the steak. there was no salt to it or other flavor to it.
I ordered lamb chops and they were good.
Their seafood option was very limited and i wanted to order the sea bass but it comes with risoto which was not my preference.
Except for the lady at the reception, no one else congratulated or say anything to us about our anniversary...not even our waiter (whom we tipped him a lot for). we were just dissappointed that it wasn't as warm and welcoming .... and no effort in making our day day special.
