Kirby's Prime Steakhouse - San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
For some reason we were hesitant to dine at Kirby's when we were looking for a fine dining experience here in San Antonio, but no more. We would rate Kirby's at the same level as Perry's, Bohanan's, and Bob's Steakhouse for wonderful prime steaks and well crafted cocktails. I'm guessing we just didn't see much press or promotion for them but when you looked at the reviews there's a clear picture of a great place for steaks and cocktails. Very nice décor and a nice sized bar which allowed us to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails at the bar even though many patrons for some reason choose to eat their dinner at the bar. On Open Table we requested a half-moon booth in a quiet area and that's exactly what they gave us. We'll be back before we leave San Antonio!
Valentines Day dinner with my Love! Tonight was a set menu but that has never bothered us at Kirby's! I had the Chipotle/Cherry Lamb for appetizer, wife had Scallops! Then I had there chopped salad and she had their "Italian Kale Wedding" soup.
Entrees: I had the 18oz ribeye with ghosts pepper sauce and my wife had the 16 oz NY Strip steak! Not were cooked perfectly, sides were fresh green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and Button mushrooms! Dessert for two was a cute heart shaped dessert! I should mention we have dinner in the fridge for tomorrow night! So much food! Awesome wine list/bar! Our fav Steak house!
The waiter Rachel was amazing! She provided excellent costumer service. She made us feel welcomed and was very attentive. Rachel was very knowledgeable and gave us suggestions on what to order. We will definitely return to Kirby’s and request Rachel as our waiter
Everything was just ok. Greeted us at the door was ok. Service was ok. Food was ok. Two of us ordered the same items and same temp and one was very different. Busser spilled water glass on of us eating. Salads were ok, did not look very fresh and swimming in dressing. The best item was the bread. If you go to this place you expect to spend some money and we did but we did not get what we paid for. This place should work on the WOW factor. Nothing worth taking a picture of and sharing it with anyone.
I took my Girlfriend for her Birthday...the food was great and service was good. The size of the French fries reminded me of a kids meal and there was no candle for my girlfriend’s birthday dessert (that was really disappointing - I mean, who doesn’t at least have a candle when there are already candles lit on the tables??) Steak was very small too but cooked perfectly. Crab cake was perfect and highly recommended.
Food and service at the table was very good. The problem was the very rude hostess. Looked like she was the boss of the hostesses because she was the one on the computer giving the orders to all the other younger hostesses. She was very rude took for ever and was whispering to an other hostess something like “ WE WILL NOT TELL HIM THAT “ referring to me. For the past two years this had been our favorite restaurant but that has now changed.
This was the first time for us at Kirby’s. The atmosphere was nice with a good bar area and nice rooms that could be separated for special events. The service was excellent but I was underwhelmed by the food. I had the prime NY strip which was cooked properly but not seasoned well. My date had the scallops which were over cooked and average. I hope this is an anomaly. I look forward to trying it again.
I ask for a nice table for 2 to celebrate a birthday on Ooen Table and requested rose petals on the table, they asked if I had a reservation, no rose petals, seated by kitchen, steak had no flavored, I should have taken my date to Ruth Chris, I will not visit Kirbys again, the one in Dallas is just was bad. Thanks
We are regulars in Kirby's bar for drinks and food. That is always an outstanding experience. Seated in the restaurant tonight to have dinner with friends and experience the Restaurant Week menu. Food was tasty but our server, Ryan, was obviously inexperienced and did not live up to the standard expected of a restaurant in this class. He did not offer the restaurant week menu at all, had to ask for it more than once. He did not offer the other special of bone in filet at $39.99. When asked he said "I wasn't going to offer it to you at that price unless you already knew about it?" All in all, he was less than attentive and seemed in a rush to always move on to the next table instead of slowing down and listening to what we were asking and saying.
