About Kinley's Restaurant and Bar
After graduating from the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, Chef Brett Knipmeyer returned to Chicago for a stint at the WORLD RENOWNED CHARLIE TROTTER’S.
After moving to Alaska to be the head chef at Jens Restaurant Brett has now staked his own culinary claim, and named it after his daughter, Kinley.
Kinley's serves fresh Alaskan seafood right from local fisherman, 30 Wines By the Glass, 300 wines by the bottle, and locally brewed beers on tap, as well as a wide selection of cocktails

i was disappointed in the hummus appetizer which i've ordered before for lunch. Presentation was very blah, used to be served as more of a mediterranean dish with some veggies, olives and hummus which all add to presentation. just hummus this time, no veggies or olives, very good flavor, but not well rounded for a lunch or appetizer.
The food was delicious but the noise level was very loud. It became all most too loud to hear the two people across the booth from us. We were there for a business meal so that made it a little hard. Our server was very nice but also hard to hear when she was letting us know the specials. The food was very good though so we will be back.
We arrived for an early reservation and were seated immediately. Our server, Kristie, was awesome. We have had her before and she is just wonderful. The food was delicious as always. if you have never been, get the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer. Just do it, and get your own order. It's worth it. I had the filet mingon and my date had the duck confit, both are excellent.
Kinley's is my go to spot for special occasions and the other times when you just want something a little extra special.
The reason we down graded the food is because our Filet steaks were served unfinished and the server had to go back to the kitchen to retrieve the prosciutto that was supposed to top our steaks for 2 out of the 3 filet dishes ordered by our party. Also, the prosciutto was served cold when we did finally get it.
We were seated in the back section between two tables of approximately 12 people, who had obviously had quite a bit to drink. There were 2 of us, and it was SO loud and raucous that we couldn’t hear each other across the table. We left without even considering a second beverage or dessert. Why put 2 people between 2 party tables?
Very disappointing.... this has happened to us twice now, doubt we’ll be back.
We had the baked oysters and unfortunately there were many shell pieces, large & small, in them. We also both had the rockfish kabobs. While the fish was great, the sides didn't compliment the fish. The vinegar salad, sour cream sauce, and the spices used in the rice and beans didn't leave the best taste in our mouths; it needed something sweet or hot & spicy. We surly will try again, this was unusual.
Made reservations, table for two at 8 o'clock. Got there at 745, promptly shown to our booth. Server was very friendly. Food took awhile because there was a large group in the same section, but our crabcake appetizer was out fast and was delicious. When our meal came it was great looking and tasted just as good.
First visit. Hosted a good friend and his family whom I hadn't seen in over 30 years. Service was excellent from the moments we walk in to when we left. Food was excellent. Pork chop was amazing. Wait staff was very attentive when needed - allowed us uninterrupted time to catch up and was right there when we needed a refill or dessert. Overall could not have been a better place to visit with friends over good food and cold drinks. Thank you!!
Wrote this message to kinley’s management but didn’t hear from them.... Hi just to let you know for the future. My husband n I are regular customers of kinleys . When you re-opened I ordered the paella which I loved so much ..the way it was plated and the flavor so last night we came for dinner m cocktails and it was a big disappontment. I ordered the paella again cause I loved it from the last visit but unfortunately the flavor taste different , shrimp was way over cooked almost curled and rubbery and my clams mostly are just shells. I’m writing you this cause I love eating at kinleys . I’ll send you the pics of my paella from the first visit and last night’s visit.
The food was outstanding! Our waiter was efficient but abrupt. Before my friends even had their coats off, he wanted a drink order. The place wasn't packed so I'm not sure why the rush but it didn't fit with a nicer place to eat. It also seemed like the overall lighting should have been dimmed down a bit for dinner.
I eat here frequently, but last night did not go well. My entree first arrived with the incorrect vegetables, and when returned (with no vegetables, they arrived separately later), the pork chop which had been ordered medium, was grossly overcooked (dry and white throughout). I ended up with a bowl of French Onion soup, being unwilling to wait for another complete entree to be prepared. So, not a terrific experience.
