   The food was exceptional, and we loved the decor. I hadn't been to Kinyo for years but I will go back more often.

   Amazing experience overall. The decor is nice and intimate, and noise levels are very comfortable for discussions. The food is really outstanding with both staples and unique dishes. There also was a themed course menu that felt worth the money which is rare. Portions are very good too. This place deserves the hype.

   Unfortunately it seems the location is losing its spark, and is turning into a just "good restaurant". We have been going to this restaurant for more than 10 years, but the two last time were disappointing as the magic seems to have gone, and the dishes are less memorable. Unfortunate.

   Kingyo Izakaya is a must visit! The ambiance is warm and inviting, with stylish decor that enhances the experience. The food is spectacular, the beef tongue on the hot stone and smashed sushi are standouts. Every dish is beautifully presented and full of flavor. Service is great, and one small suggestion, serving hot large sake in a more traditional container would add to the authenticity. Highly recommend!

    It is so hard these days to find a restaurant that leaves me satisfied. I usually have to eat more after my meal, or the food is good but the service is terrible. However, Kingyo Izakaya has restored my faith in spending my hard earned cash for a meal out. My partner and I had a multi course meal of pickles, agedashi tofu, tempura prawns, kobe beef, salmon sushi, miso udon carbonara and the “invincible and undefeated” ramen. We also each had one drink. Every single dish was delicious and I would order them all again. Our bill came to $180 after tax and we took leftovers home. Service was prompt and friendly. Vibes were fun and unpretentious but staff clearly take pride in what they do. To me, Kingyo Izakaya represents everything good about dining out. This place is now my favourite restaurant in the city and I can’t wait to go back.
