King's Fish House - San Jose
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable.
The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often, we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about — and we’ve tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!

The atmosphere was super nice and relaxed. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Service was fast and efficient. Food was amazing! Probably some of the best fresh seafood I’ve had in awhile. Definitely want to go back and try more of their menu. The bathrooms also were super clean and well kept. 10/10 would recommend
I enjoyed the food , very fresh great clam chowder and the appetizer was on point . Our server Michael was very helpful in picking our appetizer and main course and he was able to elaborate on every dish we asked about .
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are pleased to hear that your dining experience was great! We look forward to your next visit with us. Have a great day!!
We had quite the experience here. First, the host was darling and we really enjoyed talking to him after he seated us but our server messed up countless times and we had to ask other servers and eventually the manager to help us. When our appetizer of oysters and bread finally came, 30 minutes later, the food was fresh and phenomenal.
We ordered the 2 pounds of Alaskan King Crab Legs and somehow lobster came out to our table (which looked amazing,) another 30 minutes later- so after waiting far too long for this entire experience, we told the manager we needed that order canceled and had to go. An hour of being in our seat with no main course was a bit absurd.
Now, before I say the service was bad, because yes, our server was very much off his game, I have to rave about the service of the Manager Joshua Smith. He was so extremely apologetic, friendly and overall super kind! His personality and attitude towards us, made the horrible service we first received, well worth it. In fact, I am glad we were able to meet him and chat about his background!
He not only gave us our 2 pounds of Alaskan King Crab for free in a to-go bag (even after we canceled the order,) he also surprised us with a gift card to come back as to make sure we had a better experience next time! I would've been fine having only our wine taken off but he just went so far above and beyond, I cannot help but remain excited to return and I am super happy with the food and the service in the end.
The crab was extremely fresh, even after taking it home to eat, the oysters were flavorful and fresh too and the wine selection was pretty good! The restaurant ambiance itself was wonderful! We got to watch our Giants game for an hour ;) and the decorations were really neat! I think I will eventually fall in love with this place but being honest, that was our first experience!
The food wasn’t good at all too expensive. The fried calamari was tough and Manila clam linguine was awful my wife didn’t like it at all. Our server was not good either. We won’t be back and would not recommend to our family or friends
I enjoyed the food, service and the nice atmosphere! I will return again! I celebrated a birthday for a friend and she was very happy!
Great food and cocktails. Seems like they are still short staffed but they dealt very well with a few impatient patrons. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.
The music was much too loud. The food is good. The waitress was good and professional.
Cioppino should say "Cajun style" on menu.
Lobster was very good and juicy.
From Ariana's greeting to the gracious farewell, we had a great time. All the staff was fantastic. The oyster sampler was the way to go for a tasting journey.
Nick was an incredible server!
The only tip that I was suggest is to know what kind of food you would like prior to coming and order right away!!
It was delicious. There were four of us, and we all had the South African lobster tails with different sides, and everyone was happy with their selection.
Came here for a birthday dinner and I will definitely be coming back! The ambiance is nice, the food is great and the drinks are delicious! The staff is also very friendly.
We had a lively time at your restaurant celebrating Father’s Day.
Miso sea bass, oysters, Manila clams, chowder and Brussels sprouts delicious. Make sure to wait to eat house bread when chowder and clams arrive for dipping, otherwise you will get full real fast.
Freezing dinner. No heaters with the fans on. Our entire party was freezing throughout the entire dinner. Horrible!
Food was fantastic, dessert was amazing; Would recommend. Highly recommend making reservations.
Very popular restaurant, especially on weekends.
Waitstaff may be a bit overwhelmed by the demand but certainly tried their very best to accommodate every one.
We were sitting outside and it was rather hot - they should have installed some large fans.
Food was good, very nice ambiance.
Disappointed with the hostess as when we requested for a seat in the shaded patio by the bar. He said there was tables seating for 3. After we were seated we noticed he gave seatings for 2 and 3 at tables that fit 4 for the next 3 guests after us. Note we also had a reservation.
Good food and service but pricey. Nice ambience and spacious.
Outstanding; one of my favorite restaurants ever!
The shrimp buscatini pasta was overall very good! The shrimp in it was huge and well worth the money I spent on the dish, however I'd say the sauce of the pasta didn't have much flavor. For that reason alone, I thought the pasta could be improved upon.
Great experience. Will be back again. :)!
Everything was great, food was delicious, came out on descent time, waiter service was perfect. Made a reservation, still had to wait about 10/15 minutes. But otherwise, great experience and will definitely be back.
Delicious fresh seafood out in the new outdoor shopping area of Valley Fair. Great for a memorable and tasty date night.
Always great food and excellent service!
Restaurant was very clean; staffs were very friendly & the food was amazingly good.
Definitely coming back again
Excellent food, enjoy this new place!
Everything was tasty. We would definitely going back again!!
John was our waiter who was fantastic at his job! Personable, knowledgeable and funny. We specifically asked for a manager to come to the table to tell them about our great service from John as having been in the service industry my entire life staff doesn’t always get kudos for the good service. I wanted to make sure that he got recognized for that. The food was good, ambience was nice, this was our second time we’ve been there and each visit the service was superb, one of the reasons we returned the second time. Definitely will be going back!
It was pleasant. The ambiance was in all good spirits. We sat outside, there was live music from another venue that was nice to listen to. The Food was as expected. I had the king crab legs with butter that was sweet and melted in your mouth. My partner had the grilled halibut that was excellent and had that nice char to it. The key lime pie was a little tart for my liking, but to each their own. Overall, wonderful dining experience.
Tony was our server, he was GREAT!! Very attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu! Gave great recommendations on food and drinks! We will definitely be back with our family.
Not bad but there are better fish/seafood places similar to King's with better food and better value for your money. Their clam chowder is good and not salty. The lobster sushi roll is forgetful, and the cioppino is overpriced for the quantity. Fish and chips was ok but nothing great. I had better ones from sports bars. Our lobster roll came out late and so they had to comp it. Thank you but I wouldn't even pay for what was served to us. Not worth the $16+. Also, we had a reservation for outdoor seating but was seated till 25 mins after. And the table we were given was vacant when we got there. And there were 3 others. Why we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated at an already vacant table blows my mind. It's not that we waited for a table to be clear. Overall, it was OK but I don't think I am coming back.
Had a birthday lunch here for 5 people on Sunday 6/13. The food and service were great. My husband who is very picky about the way his lobster is cooked (he is from the east coast) said this place knows how to cook lobster the right way.
Our server Susie was attentive and very courteous - she had a very warm way about her that added to a very positive experience.
We brought a nice bottle of wine and appreciated the no corkage fee policy. The bill was $330 before tip but we ordered well.
The only negative is our reservation was for 1PM but we did not get seated until close to 1:30 even though there were several empty outdoor tables where we ended up being seated. Thankfully the warm sunshine was a welcome change that day from the fog in SF where we live.
Server was excellent and great food
Great food and Tony our server was amazing! I will definitely be back for another meal because this is the perfect spot for summer dinners.
It is tough to write this. Been going to King's since they opened and the food has always been the star followed by the service. But lately this is changing. Are the crowds coming because the opening crew did such a stellar job? Certainly our last 2 visits have been disappointing.
I understand the difficulty in hiring good staff and everyone has an off night now and then. I understand there are no crabs available for crab cakes. But I'm seeing a pattern here and I'm disappointed. Tables are not bussed quickly or at all. Even with a reservation there is a wait of 15-20 minutes during prime hours. The presentation is lacking (last night the Lobster Crunch Roll looked like it was thrown on the plate). Dishes arrive out of order. Drinks take 15-20 minutes. The staff looks like they are moving at half speed. Where are the managers? Or is Kings just going to be another mediocre restaurant succeeding on being in the right location (Across the street Santana Row is full of them). I do want King's to be successful! There are no other comparable seafood houses around.
I love this restaurant, the food is amazing, the service was attentive and nice and just such a pretty dining experience. I will be coming back!
SO delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was from appetizer to desert. We had a really good waiter and he was super cool! We came about an hour before close, but he did not rush us at all! We will be back.
First time with my bf here. We enjoyed everything here from food, drinks to the ambiance! Will definitely share with friends and family and will be coming back :)
