Shabu-shabu
Shabu-Shabu is a type of Japanese cuisine that involves the diner cooking fresh, seasonal vegetables and thinly sliced meat in a steaming pot of water at their table. Traditionally, the primary meat cooked is beef, but modern cuisine has evolved to include other meats and seafood. At King Shabu Shabu, we serve several grades of premium beef, including Japanese A5 Wagyu; Berkshire pork; free-range chicken; lamb and a variety of seafood. Vegetables, rice, dipping sauces and noodles are served with each entrée.

Our full-service bar includes craft cocktails, draft beer, fine wine, chilled sake and the most extensive selection of Japanese whisky on the North Shore.

At King Shabu Shabu, we strive to give every customer a memorable dining experience. Come join us at the steamiest restaurant on the North Shore!

Everything was really nice. Very clean. Great service. The only thing I would recommend is wood Chopstix instead of metal, because noodles kept sliding off, LOL. Thank you Lizzie for a great service and a great experience!

Loved the concept of something different to do. We each had our own pot to season as we liked and choose our own protein. Plenty of food but be sure to save room for the chocolate fondue!!!

What a find! Sleek, beautiful interior. Fantastic service! Fresh, fresh, fresh food! Enjoyed cooking broth/protein/veggies and ended up with plenty to take home -- generous servings. The "cooking" activity was well explained, easy and fun! Coming back w/the family! Also notice private room available for larger groups. Exceeded expectations!

We had a fantastic dinner experience here. For one person with it, it was their first experience with shabu-shabu, and for the rest of us, the wait staff could not have been more helpful. The food is delicious - we can't wait to return!

OUTSTANDING food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only negative is that the restaurant lacks color and expression. However, the food and staff clearly made up for the lack of ambiance. If Open Table gives you a long wait time, call the restaurant directly. We did and they were able to seat us immediately.

Our first experience of the Japanese version of the hot pot restaurant was outstanding. Although I never ate in Shabu-Shabu restaurants in USA, my point of comparison was a hot pot dinner in Beijing in China. Everything in King Shabu Shabu was A+: very modern appealing design, spotless cleanliness, attentive and professional service and ,the most important, impeccable quality of meats. The meats definitely deserve the special mention! If you never tried, as it was our case, the Japanese Wagyu beef, you should order the Emperor selection which includes this type of beef along with Japanese Kurobuta Pork belly, other types of beef and a lobster. Japanese Wagyu beef and Kurobuta pork were devine. I don't know how I will be able now to eat regular beef and pork. What a treat it was !!! I highly recommend!!!

I love the uniqueness and originality of King Shabu Shabu and the concept they offer. The approach is wonderful vegetables and meat cooked in wonderful broth. They offer a wide range of protein choices that you can choose and mix, including chicken, rib eye, pork and seafood options. They offer a range of beef quality from Choice, Prime to American and Japanese Wagyu. They offer normal and spicy broth as well as a variety of vegetables to enhance your meal. Rice and noodles are also components to enhance the experience.
I always feel healthy and fulfilled after eating here and my kids love the experience and novelty of cooking their own dinners in the steaming pot of broth. They also offer tasty appetizers including Bang Bang Shrimp and delicious Gyoza. A unique assortment of cocktails is also available and I enjoyed a Green Tea Matcha Arnold Palmer that was delicious.
If you are looking for an alternative to the same old dinner options you should give it a try.

First time at King Shabu Shabu, and we were very pleasantly surprised at what a great place this is. First, coming in you notice that the decor is very nice. It is very inviting and clean. The food is amazing, especially if you are looking for healthy options and lots of flexibility in ordering the quantity and type of food you prefer. Each guest gets their own hot pot, everything is explained well, and there you go preparing a wonderful meal. I highly recommend this restaurant!

A wonderful dining experience. First of all, a unique and different approach, you boil your meal, at your table. No heavy oils to worry about. You get a large bowl of vegetables as a starter. Then you get your meats, depending on what you ordered, beef, pork, or chicken. My friend likes to avoid gluten and King Shabu Shabu had that covered as well. She LOVED the veggie noodles. I wish there were more locations!

My son took me there for Mother’s Day. I ordered the Queen’s feast. It was very good. I especially loved the wagyu ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ beef and scallops - exquisite. Our server and the rest of the wait staff were all attentive and pleasant. Will definitely go back.

We love King Shabu Shabu. The quality of the meats is really outstanding and are presented beautifully at the table. Shabu Shabu is a really nice change from other types of dining experiences, and the ability to flavor your own pot they way you like it is plus (tip: be sure to request Kombu Tsuyu, a kelp flavored soy sauce to flavor your pot with). The owners are always present to ensure you have a good experience, and we always feel welcomed and appreciated. We also like to go with another couple of two, as the experience and tables lend themselves to relaxed conversation, and you can always get multiple posts going at each table, just order some extra vegetables.

We love hot pot so were very excited to find this place. The service was amazing. Some of the best service i've had. All the servers were helpful and knowledgeable. We were not aware that if you sit at the bar you can order from their all you can eat menu. Need to go back to for that. The quality of food was very impressive all the seafood and cuts of meat were fresh.

I did read other reviews about the broth ending up bland. And I do have some tips for new comers. We did not find the spicy miso broth spicy so ask for 2 spoonfulls. Add a generous amount of salt and pepper, use the chili garlic for added heat, and a small dollup of ponzu for citrus. Then ask you waiter for lime slices. Add your veggies right away. The veggies add flavor as well. We removed our veggies by the time our protein came. We put all the veggies over rice and added lime juice and tahini. Use the lime juice on top of finished meat and seafood. My husband got the seafood combo and it was well worth the cost for the amount of food he got. I got 6 oz ribeye and ate a lot of his seafood as well. Well worth the visit!

We came for my husband’s birthday and our first time dining. The staff was so attentive and even sang my husband happy birthday and had an assortment of mochi ice cream for his complimentary dessert! Will definitely be back. Food was great and experience was excellent. We came with our four young children and they all enjoyed it.

This is the third time I’ve dined here. Sadly to say, the first was the best visit and this was most disappointing. I made a 7:45 PM reservation but no table was available for us until 8:15 PM. When We were seated no one told us that the kitchen had run out of dipping sauces and the spices one would add to the pot. We learned of this half way through the meal. They must have some challenges in retaining good staff. Despite this, the food was tasty and the drinks are always good. I’m just disappointed because we brought a new couple there and I wanted to impress them.
