Shabu-Shabu is a type of Japanese cuisine that involves the diner cooking fresh, seasonal vegetables and thinly sliced meat in a steaming pot of water at their table. Traditionally, the primary meat cooked is beef, but modern cuisine has evolved to include other meats and seafood. At King Shabu Shabu, we serve several grades of premium beef, including Japanese A5 Wagyu; Berkshire pork; chicken; lamb and a variety of seafood. Vegetables, rice, dipping sauces and noodles are served with each entrée.

Our full-service bar includes craft cocktails, draft beer, fine wine, chilled sake and the most extensive selection of Japanese whisky around the North Shore.

We currently have dining open indoors and outdoors. We have a shabu shabu only menu indoors and a special outdoor patio menu with cooked and prepared items, weather permitting.

When we first arrived, we were seated in the back room, which was stark, nothing on the walls but gray paint, and not very enticing to sit for an expensive dinner. When i requested to move to the main dining room, the maitre d first said "no" then changed his mind. With respect to the food, we had never been to a Shabu Shabu hot pot cooking restaurant before, and could have used a little more guidance on how to cook the food, and the manner in which it was served. We ordered appetizers, but the waiter forgot to place them as an order, and simply brought out our main course, so we then asked to cancel the appetizers, which was just as well, because we saved $30.00 off the bill. The food in my opinion was WAY overpriced for what was offered. The Wagyu beef was good but the portion was tiny. The other steak & pork items tasted good when we smothered the food in the dipping sauces. I might try the place one more time if the prices weren't so steep.
