I was very impressed with the atmosphere and the food!
My mother and I went before the Elton John concert. The vibe was great, service was fast and food was delicious and fresh. I’ll def. be back
The service was wonderful and the brunch was tasty. Brought my boyfriend there for his 30th birthday and they made it special
The food was good. However the latte had too much foam and little espresso.
Chef Jason really has mad skills, the food is outrageously good and plentiful. The service is getting really good as well, new restaurant and stuff, takes some time.
This was an extremely disappointing experience with people that we were trying to impress.
From the check in all the way to the payment and check out - I can not say even one good
thing. IT was an embarassement for such a beautiful hotel.
Music from the DJ in the bar next to Kindred was too loud.
I don't usually complain about food but this time not that great. Server was very up front about steak sandwich -- actually a beef dip. I appreciated her honesty and had no problem. Couple bites in I get a small sliver of bone, few more bites in I get a piece of string. Roast beef was bone dry and fries were overcooked. I didn't say anything to the server at the time as someone else is paying for this meal but had I been paying on my own I would have spoken up. I did leave the items in the middle of the plate to be seen. Not sure if server noticed. The peach cocktail drink I had was terrific -- that gets 5 stars. Overall, not a good experience.
So I went here for a date . It’s a very nice place and it was peaceful . The service was very slow though and the waitress was still learning which made it a bit awkward. We started out with the hummus, which was pretty good. With our mains they came out a lot later. So we were pretty hungry by the time we got our food . My boyfriend loved his pasta but the serving size was pretty small . I got the pizza and it came out completely burned . They did apologize and brought me out a new pizza but it was very disappointing since it was date night. At the end it was a nice night but a bit over priced for what it is .
The food quality and presentation is very disappointing. I really was expecting a lot more from this place and booked very early in advance. But the food was very disappointing and witness a couple instances:
1. There was a family who waiting for almost 15-20 min and no one took their order after ordering drinks. They had an infants and a small child with them. They decided to leave afterwards
2. There was another table who waiting for also almost 15-20 min to get the bill/check
3. Bus boys were really not professional; beside the too casual footwear it almost look like they were not properly trained. That's the feeling I got when observing them.
4. The server that was assigned to my table was very responsive so that makes a huge difference.
5. The location is really nice but the staffs gave me the feeling that they are too new in the industry or not well trained.
6. Food: the overall food presentation was poorly done. I just ordered the full breakfast and everything was overcooked and the toast was even burned. I was expecting better quality food sources including coffee choices. The overall breakfast didn't leave memorable tastes and was very bland. The coffee was refilled on time and always HOT but wasn't anything special.
I like the server who was assigned to my table and she made the experience a little more pleasant. I am overall very disappointed and now very hesitant to try "Braven" next door
It’s a nice room, and I love the location. The food was good but our entire table agreed it was not really special. Our server was really inexperienced and still does not understand a lot of the rules of service. I expect she will get better with time.
Amazing server!!! His name is Travis woods. I would recommend him to anybody!! The food was very good and very fast
We were excited to try this new restaurant. Unfortunately we were disappointed. We just didn't feel we got good value for the small salads we received and how expensive it was to add protein to those small salads. The one I ordered was supposed to be spinach + goat cheese but there was way more radicchio than spinach which was too bitter to be enjoyable. Also they were testing the fire alarms during the lunch period! I don't see myself returning any time soon.
Not great - food was mediocre, which would've been palatable had the service sufficed. But that was the most disappointing of all. Beautiful space, however, which is their main and only promising feature.
Beautiful hotel. Food was average at best. Not worth the prices in my opinion.
The only issue I'm sure you guys know is the music volume. Everything else is golden.
I have dined at Kindred for lunch twice in the past month. The room is bright and nicely decorated. The servers are friendly but seem a bit unsure. My hope is their confidence and comfort level in delivering 4-star service improves. I am surprised the servers are not using trays to deliver food - at both meals, we had our food delivered barehanded (i.e. thumbs on the edge of the plate/touching the edge of the food). Staff should be required to use a tray or at least a hot cloth - I don't want your thumb in my lunch.
The food is good, but I was expecting "great" for this restaurant. The plating is somewhat awkward (portions too large for the plate). I am hoping the rough edges will be smoothed out as this is a really nice spot for lunch during the week. I get the sense everyone is trying hard so please keep up the work and continue to refine the customer experience to match the price tag on the meal.
I was absolutely shocked to be charged $14 to add a small amount of protein to a pasta dish (a pasta dish that cost $18 by itself). That’s absolutely a money grab, and it’s enough to make me not want to come back. At any other reds air ant, that’s a $5-9 (max) add on to a dish. How is it justified? And it want anywhere near the 8 oz that they say they provide for that ridiculous amount of money. Such a rip off
Perfect get together environment! The food was priced well and the food quality was outstanding. I would recommend having the calimari even if you never cared for it before! Also the tuna was very good with all the grains .This place takes pride in all food prep. The flavours in my whole meal were all fresh! Well done keep up the good work!
The service was awesome but the food disappointing. Calamari was undercooked and too doughy. Pasta was definitely chewy and undercooked. For a Michael Bonnacini restaurant it was very disappointing.
The matcha cream cocktail was not good and should be taken off the menu. I was also not impressed with the food (fish bannaco). There’s a lot of competition downtown for good food so I think with this price point, the food/drinks should be much better. Great ambience and great looking place though!
It’s okay, but you could go to a cheaper restaurant that’s WAY quieter and has the same standard for food. It was also very squished in, making it seem as if I was in a classroom all over again. Hidden charges are also included, so be aware!
The food wasn’t amazing. The service was excellent. The food just missed the mark, almost as if they are trying to hard and failing.
Thank you, Jodie, for your feedback. We certainly appreciate the time you took to come out and try our food. We will strive every day to achieve that level of quality that will have you pleased next time you decide to dine with us!
Amazing drinks and service. The food tasted great, but some items seemed more generic and less value-friendly than others. But would definitely come back again.
They just opened a week ago, but they are doing a great job already for being new. Their team of staff are super friendly and helpful.
Had the fried cauliflower, poutine, beef carpaccio and chicken pot pie. All were delish.
Thank you WineDiva! Your comments are truly appreciated. We cannot wait to have you in next time so we can add some more positive memories.
Went with a larger group were seated at a cute round table. Enjoyed half price bottles of wine on Wednesday. My meal was “okay” I had a tuna tataki bowl, it seemed to have a lot of rice and bulgar wheat, which was quite dry and not very much flavour. The tuna and toppings were decent but again failed a bit on the flavourful aspect. The tuna I would recommend searing the outside and having a ponzu sauce or something like that drizzled on it. However I also had a wedge salad which was very good. Could use some bacon bits and blue cheese crumble to be a true wedge salad. The dressing was good, and I liked the fried onions on top. Dessert was awesome-can’t complain about the sticky toffee pudding! For now I give the food a 3 star because of the possible improvements that could be made as mentioned. They have only been opened a few days so I’m hoping with time the menu is tweaked to perfection.
Possibly opening week issues, but service was not great. Our server didn't know the menu well, and had to check with someone on almost everything. A friend ordered the Cobb Salad, and it arrived without dressing. They remade the salad, but no offer was made as compensation, as she waited 10 minutes for a new salad while we sat and ate slowly.
Prices are also high for the portions. I had a pizza, and there was no hot sauce or chilli flakes available, so the server offered their in-house hot sauce. Great, but she also didn't mention that it would cost $2.00. I would have gotten it anyways, but would have appreciated the heads up.
Restaurant itself it beautiful though, bright and airy.
Beautiful venue, spacious and full of light. Food was very delicious and pleasing to the eye.
Service and food were great! Based on my allergies the chef had given me options of what I can eat. Definetly coming again!
