At Kindling we believe that great steak should be for everyone. Located in the heart of Brighton, our restaurant offers a laid-back dining experience with great value, quality beef cooked over charcoal and live fire.
Our open kitchen lets you see all the action up close. Witness the skill and passion of our team as they cook your steak to perfection.

We focus on quality and value, creating a casual environment that makes everyone feel at home. Kindling is perfect for casual business lunches, family get-togethers and catch-ups with friends.

Our menu is simple but spot-on. It features grass-fed British beef and delicious cocktails, wines, and beers that perfectly complement your meal. On Sundays we serve our Sharing Roast for two alongside our regular menu.

We were in Brighton for a conference and booked at Kindling for a small meeting. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic

We were so excited to visit Kindling as it was on our list. The decor of the restaurant is lovely, however, we were disappointed by our greeting. We were just given a quick “do you have a reservation?” We found the staff overall to be quite rude- we even joked that maybe we had gone to Karen’s Diner by mistake. Honestly, everyone that we had an interaction with was miserable. We gave the team some benefit, as it was the warmest day of the year. However, when you’re paying to eat out we expect service with a smile. Our chips & the Mac & Cheese were left on the side for such a long time and the Mac & Cheese was cold. The flavour of the sharing steak was lovely and we enjoyed that- we also enjoyed the courgette fritters. We would usually have stayed for dessert but we just wanted to get out as we felt a bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately we won’t be returning or recommending Kindling to our friends.

Dear Oliver thanks for taking the time to leave a review and sorry for the late reply. First of all, our apologies if your experience was quite up to your expectations. We really do relish on a friendly and welcoming service and if you did not feel that way we really failed you. We agree when you say that a good service is a service with a smile, and this is usually what we like to offer. The warmest day of the year is definitely not a good excuse for us and if you wish to visit us again we'll do our best to make you stay for a dessert. All the best. Team Kindling

The best meal we’ve had. Steak was perfect, sides were delicious and the drinks were amazing! Could not recommend enough

Asked for 2 medium rib eye steaks which were. cooked medium rare. The stakes were very poor cuts with a lot of sinews and a lot inedible Not what is expected from a “steak house”. The steaks were served sliced so the chef should have noticed the poor quality before serving. The food was high end price but low end quality. Wouldn’t visit again.

The perfect birthday celebration in a relaxed bistro atmosphere with excellent service and the food was sublime. I had the burrata salad which was like summer in a bowl and my partner had the wagyu beef which he said melted in his mouth. This restaurant is worth the visit for the macaroni cheese alone which has four different cheeses in it and was so delicious. I would recommend Kindling to anyone and everyone.

Steaks were good - although there are better steak restaurants in Brighton. The macaroni cheese was very good although salad dressing was quite tart. Service though was quite disappointing. First waitress left us for almost 10mins before asking if we wanted anything to drink and then only brought half the order. Second waitress was better, although the damage was done. The restaurant was busy, although that is no excuse as you should know how many people are expected and staff accordingly. When spending over £200 for a meal, you expect better & wont go there again.

We had a brilliant family meal at Kindling - for a birthday. Food, ambience, and cocktails were ace. And staff were very nice. A lot of fun.
