My server, Kiely (sorry for misspelling) was amazing! Great customer service and conversation. I feel like the food was lacking in portion size and misleading as full entrees. The mushroom risotto seemed like less than 1/2 portion for one person. The sweet potatoes simply were unique but not good. Steak Coulette + red strawberry snapper were 10/10. Crab cakes were not enjoyable, way smaller than what you’d expect. Fries were entirely too salty and not hot. I felt bad for my guests. Birthday dessert wasn’t anything worth trying. Sad because i loveeee dessert.

Celebrated a birthday in an invitingly warm atmosphere at Kiln. We began with liquid libations. Ordering a beer became a little tedious as a combination of a recent power outage with other unknown factors led to finally finding one satisfactory beer! Things became brighter with the yummy Kiln bread and soft butter enhanced w/flaky sea salt & seaweed (sounds odd but adds to the taste). For mains, the birthday boy thoroughly enjoyed his short ribs as I enjoyed the catfish accompanied by a yummy succotash. though one companion while enjoyed the catfish but found the succotash too vineagary for her taste and the other diner did not get excited over the rock fish. We did have a lovely pinot noir which paired well with the dishes. We ended the meal with an excellent carrot cake. A minor point, although upon our arrival the host quickly acknowledged we were celebrating a birthday as did the server, by the time dessert arrived, there wasn't even a candle or a hint that they remembered we were celebrating a special occasion. Finally, my double espresso was no more than a thimbleful. and the requested sugar never arrived. I will not doubt that our server said he pushed the double button, then the machine needs to be re-calibrated. The server did remove the charge which was appreciated.

When we politely requested to be seated at a table by the window the host flat-out refused, claiming the table was “reserved” for another party. Fair enough, Here’s the kicker: that window table remained empty for the entire time we were there. Not a single person was seated at it! Not a good look for a pretty nice restaurant. Food was good, ambiance was good but not sure we’ll go back.

The mushroom risotto was stupendous as were the roasted oysters. Crab cakes were very nice. Short ribs were delicious and very tender. Carrot cake was excellent.

Very expensive. Limited menu. Lovely space. Nice space. The most tasty thing we had was the 18 hour cabbage. That was delicious.

We had a very nice meal at Kiln. We are huge fans of the chef and the concept, and always enjoy dining here. The service was great and we would encourage the team to keep leaning in to the wood fired cooking, as it really adds a unique quality to the dishes.

I was very much looking forward to a new restaurant in Old Town. But sadly Kiln did not hit the mark. I think the first drawback was the ambience. I felt like I was eating in the hotel lobby and the decor was drab. The service was good; however, the food was good but not great. We had the chili oysters, which were good but $30 for a dozen oysters seems way overpriced. For entrees I had the smoked chicken with a mole sauce. Both were very bland. My daughter had a burger, which probably was the best deal for $20 and it was good. I am afraid that I won't be coming back.
