Killarney Mountain Lodge
The Lodge is a lovely spot with a special experience to offer guests. Unfortunately, we were there at the end of the busy season so staffing was short and many of the menu items were unavailable. I am certain it is a terrific staff and operation during peak times. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.
The food was fine. The server Courtney was very nice. The wine by the glass choice was crummy. Very limited. But probably best place for miles
As part of the celebration for my wife’s 60th birthday we booked a 3 nights stay at Killarney Mountain Lodge on the Canadian Plan which includes breakfast and diner daily. We had a truly all around enjoyable experience. Our room in the Covered Portage building was large, very clean with an excellent king bed and comfortable pillows with a walk out overlooking the channel. The staff were very attentive and friendly throughout the complex. Facilities and events offered numerous options for relaxation and excitement. Our favourites included the sunset sail on Stormy Night, the Crack hike in Killarney ProvincialPark, diving off the dock into the channel, listening to live music in the Carousel Lounge and choking with a book poolside. Meals were delicious with excellent choices. Food presentation and quality exceeded our expectations. For an upscale northern experience we would highly recommend Killarney Mountain Lodge for a couples or family getaway.
Our server; Andres was the best waiter we’ve ever had in the 10+ years we’ve been going for dinner there
Exceptional food in a lovely setting. An evening to remember thanks to the care and attention of our KML hosts.
Great atmosphere and nice and quiet on opening weekend.
Made a reservation on Open Table.
Arrived for dinner to find out Killarney Mountain Lodge is closed for the winter!!!
Had the pasta special - it was a squash ravioli in a rose sauce. Seriously, the sauce tasted like cheese wiz. Not sure if many of you remember cheese wiz, if not, it isn’t pleasant. The prices were exorbitant for what it was. I have no problem paying for good food. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good. It didn’t even come close to good. The place is banking on the fact that there are only a couple of places to eat at when you are there, since it is a 40+ km drive into Killarney.
Dinners were fantastic. Service was a bit spotty at times. Lovely wait staff, but not the most efficient. The Chefs Dinner was well worth it. A load of fun and good food. Their wine cellar leans to California wines, so it is a matter of taste.
We’ve been going to Killarney Mountain Lodge for about 15 years I hope they don’t lose the lovely ambiance we’ve enjoyed over the years with the modernization & expansion the food is superb using local fish and imported meats The addition of wine cellar is nice. The desserts were very tasty . We hope to return in the fall which is our preferred time .
Our overall experience at Killarney Lodge was really nice it was our first time and we decided to try somewhere different up North for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I would definitely come here again as it's a really cute place . Being on the lake was really nice and our room was awesome , we had the king suite with a lake view . The room was really nice and spacious and very clean , the bed was ridiculously comfortable and I definitely had an amazing night sleep here . There isn't a TV but that didn't bother us as we weren't there to do that however if we felt like watching a movie We just watched Netflix on our phone . We were able to go kayaking as this is complementary when you stay as well as visit the Provincial Park and go to the beach there . If you're a coffee drinker it is quite expensive especially if you go to curds and whey I believe it's about $5 for a large coffee my husband opted to just walk down the street 2 minutes to the corner store and get a K-Cup coffee instead. You are able to take a helicopter or a plane to this Resort it was kind of cool watching them come in and out however this wasn't often so it didn't affect our stay at all . We especially loved swimming off the dock in the lake and tanning on the dock. We also enjoyed our stay by the heated pool. Our dining experience here was great. We got the breakfast and dinner meal plan when we booked and we feel that it was worth the money. You got to choose what you wanted off of a menu and 18% was added to check out at the hotel. The service was a bit slow but it was obvious that they are understaffed. That being said, our waitresses were lovely and you could see them husseling. The wait time for our meals didn't impact our experience. My only feedback would be more wine choices per glass as a lot of options were bottle only. The menu was diverse and creative. My steak wasn't cooked medium or medium rare, more on the well done as I'm sure it kept cooking before it got to me.
Another enjoyable meal at KML. Saturday evening Prime Rib special. Great Value. Tender , succulent beef.
The KML salad is extremely good.
Amazing setting with unique service. Most servers from other areas. Great to hear their stories.
This was one of my best vacations. We met people from all over the world. The food was amazing, wonderful staff, beautiful scenery. I will definitely be back.
Great ambiance but the service and speed of food delivery needs improvement.
This the third least than stellar dining experience I have had at Killarney Mountain Lodge. It is a shame because the setting and the Lodge itself is beautiful. Service is slow because of a shortage of staff. Again I could forgive that if good was worth the wait. Not so. Last we sent back both entrees.
Excellent Food in a very nice resort setting. A great escape from camping at the Provincial Park while the food and service is outstanding.
The service is inconsistent, considering they are charging premium prices. Food is Excellent, but if you get your appetizers after the main course - something is wrong. Waiting 20 minutes for our original 4 drinks is also unacceptable.
We were there for the grand opening 2018, loved my stay and the atmosphere would go back for sure.
We were there for a 4 day fall color and relaxing vacation. The Lodge is beautiful and the meals absolutely delicious. We did the Canadian food plan which includes breakfast and dinner every day. The Executive Chef Guy Bedard has put together a wonderful menu for all dining needs. The vegan entrees and breakfast options were delicious. We will return and do more wonderful hikes in the Killarney Provincal Park and enjoy more delicious meals in a beautiful setting on the North Channel of the Georgian Bay.
Room in the new building was large. King sized bed was very comfortable. It was an adventure to climb into just at the limit of us old folks. A little step bench would be nice. The thermostat was challenging. In two nights never figured it out. Just opened and closed the window. NO Lodge wifi in the room but could get 3 g off our cell service. Had to spend half of dinner time doing email. We are not email at meals people.
Staff was very friendly .
The dining room: 3 of our 4 meals we had no spoon. Stirred out coffee with the butter knife.
The food would have got 4 stars except for the strip loin steak. Completely trimmed of fat and really needed a sauce. The rib eye was excellent. All of the food was cooked exactly as we ask for it. The mussels where excellent.
Deserts just ok.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.
5 star dining in one of the nicest places in the world.
The location is superb. Gorgeous property and view. A getaway into the wilderness. Food and service were great. The room and ambience was excellent.
The menu was surprisingly large with a great selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts.
The food was always delicious and well presented. Service was a bit slow at times, but never a problem. Will definitely be coming back.
The ambiance and view were spectacular. All in our party ate the fish duo as a main. The fish was dry and overdone, the sweet potato and rice was mushy but not very tasty. The food was expensive for a main that was not cooked that well.
We had a great family reunion at Killarney Mountain Lodge! Beautiful renovations and throughly enjoyed the covered portage rooms. The service in the dining room and the reservation system needs attention. Although some dining staff are great, it seems like a sea of confusion at the front reception stand. Would have been nice for our group to sit at least close to one another because it was a reunion but nothing was done to accommodate even with a partially empty dining room. This dining issue needs to be addressed.
This would be our second dinner. Again , we would still recommend this to friends, however, I think it's important to share our experience for training purposes and to help improve your business.
We were sat right when we arrived, however, we were forgotten about and was not approached for close to 20 mins. The server finally came and apologized that we were overlooked somehow. We didn't complain and they seemed to recognize it and offer us free desserts (which they were out of when we did take advantage of it) a little disappointed that desserts was the solution as we don't usual have desserts after a meal. We should of been compensated to what works for us? Anyway, my husbands fish and chips were way over cooked and quite crispy. France fries were saturated in grease and extremely hard. Besides that, we have had such a great adventure and a great time prior to this stay so we would still come back again. I think that the feedback can help you at this point.
Our service was pretty good, but the wait for our meal was quite long. We had Some missing essentials at our table like napkins. We did wait a very long time at the hostess booth before anyone acknowledged us. Besides that it was very good. Love the new rooms!
We visit the Mountain Lodge by boat a few times a season and enjoy it immensely. The recent changes are incredible and have made our stay on the dock and dining experiences that much more enjoyable!
We had a great stay. I should have been a little more careful as I had a bad reaction to lactose in the food, one day. Please more lactose free options and have lactose free milk available at all times. Most servers were good - Danielle was terrific. A very few seemed less than enthusiastic with their jobs. Thanks!
I had the fish duo and it was delicious. Hubby had the pork tenderloin and said it was very good as well. Service was excellent. The wine list was extensive. Did not feel in the least bit rushed and the courses were timed well. Would recommend this restaurant if in the area.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Chef Cedric did a masterful job preparing out individual meals cooked in front of us. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful with our chosen spicing. Once again we will be coming back to the KML .
We very much enjoyed our return visit to the lodge since the renovations. Excellent improvements and we will return on our next visit to Killarney:)
I was really looking forward to entertaining friends after an incredible experience last summer. Sadly a swing and a miss. Came by boat for the weekend and marina staff was amazing. Dinner in the dining room was disappointing. Server was not completely trained. Had to ask for water and rolls. Others who came in after us were served well before us. When we spoke to our server she was defensive and hostile. Arguing it was not her fault. Dinner arrived finally. 2 of the 4 were cold. Chicken was sent back but other diner who had venison just ate it because starving by now. Very tasty but cold. One in the party tried the prime rib buffet which was mediocre. I have to admit my pasta of the day was piping hot and delicious so one out of three. This was the final straw and the server should have asked the manager to visit our table. It would have made all the difference in the world. Not sure I'll try the dining room again. Don't mind paying for fine dining but not going back to to pay Toronto prices for cold food and hostile service. I am here for another evening but not sure I'll return to the dining room for fear I would get the same server.
great setup, awesome staff big city dining right here in our own back yard, keep it going KML
We have been to KML for dinner a number of times. Restaurant and facilities well built with a spectacular view. Love the look of the new Wine cooler. Server was great. We tried the barn board app - was good - chutney or relish very good. I tried the Pickerel and Trout meal. I eat a lot of fish - pickerel was small but good, the trout was very ...strong- couldn't finish trout. I would have thought fresh with local commercial fishery. Business partner had the pork tenderloin bacon wrap - was good. Must have been an off night as the previous meals have been better. Keep expecting spectacular like the Chefs on G Bay wine pairing, but haven't experienced it yet.
The wait staff were apparently new and had not been well trained. Service was often too slow. On the other hand, when the food did arrive it was usually well cooked and very tasty. Hopefully, the service improves over the summer.
We were visiting the area on a holiday and enjoyed the good food in the dining room and also at the bakery Cafe near the water. The server was friendly and the portions were good. The apple cake was a large piece. The wine selection was good and the fish was wonderful.
Our server Peg was excellent, you can tell she is established in Killarney and loves what she does. She was fun and full of energy! You need more servers like her especially in the mornings when it's clear the younger servers are tired and hung over!
Charming atmosphere and excellent cuisine in an out of the way spot. Will definitely return again!
