My second time here and as good as I remember it being several years ago. Will return every visit to NY!
Quality service and outstanding food! Our waiter Alex gave fantastic recommendations and each dish was delectable.
I can't wait to get back to Khe-Yo again! Our waitress was very informative about the food and how to order, never did we feel that we were asking too many questions. The servers were helpful, polite and very nice. Our food was delicious. We tried the quail small plate, which was very subtle yet flavorful. The chicken lemongrass sausage was outstanding full of flavor. We shared the pork curry noodles and it was delicious! Everything you could ask for: full of amazing flavor and hearty. We'll definitely be back!
Surprised at the quality and presentation of the Laotian food. It was delicious with so many different flavors and spices. Small Plates and Large Plates, ordered combination of 6 total and was more than enough for the 4 of us.
It's dinner is okay. It's a heavy meal with a good deal of spice. I will try brunch there to try the Pho, but the rest of the dishes were better than standard fare, but not worth the price.
Our family of foodies was very impressed with Khe-Yo! From the brussel sprouts with fish sauce to the pork curry to the cocktails, everything was exceptional. Khe-Yo was our hands down favorite of the restaurants we visited in New York this trip. Service was prompt and our waitress friendly and helpful. Don't miss this delightful place when in New York.
Khe-Yo literally served the best Pho I've ever had - it was better than many of the authentic Vietnamese restaurants I have eaten at in Boston and New York City. The Pho was light and delicious, the meat tender, and the sauces, sprouts and other vegetables complemented the broth perfectly. We went for lunch on Sunday and had a splendid time. It was quiet and the service was excellent. I could see it being a hopping joint later in the day.
Excellent all around
We’ve come here for our anniversary almost every year and the service really wasn’t good this time around. Maybe the waiter wasn’t all there. Found out the owner wasn’t there too so my guess is that the staff acts differently when he’s there as compare To not there. Usually the chef makes something authentic Loatian for my wife and he usually always said hello to the guests. This time around it was like even when we ordered food we were bothering them. Other customers who cane in afterwards were served before us. Again if the owner was there or not the service needs to be good. I really don’t know if we’re going back to that restaurant again. Prices were high too for a Laotian restaurant.
Delicious food -- similar ingredients to other Southeast Asian kitchens but dishes and preparations just different (and original)
Food was all very good although too spicy for my companions. Cool space and vibe but honestly my meal was ruined before we started as we were pressured to give our full order of 5 selections upfront. We we’re assured the pacing would be handled by the kitchen but it was rapid fire. There is really no value here, you can have comparable meals for literally half the price.
The size of the portions to the price is a little different than you’d expect at most similar restaurants, but it’s still the place I enjoyed eating at most in 2018. I’ve been twice, once mid week and again for Christmas dinner. Both times I had something out of this world.
Khe-yo has been on my radar for many years and finally made it! It DID NOT disappoint. Easy to get there via Subway. Had a late reservation, but arrived early and we were seated immediately. Service great...explained everything... food delicious and spicey! Not many dessert options tho, but didn't matter. Easy to talk to friends even tho it was busy. Will go again.
Iv'e been to Khe Yo several times and have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. This time it just wasn't as good. The food was extremely salty and the service was lacking. Hopefully it's just an outlier as the other times were great.
Food was good but didn’t seem Laotian. We had Brussels sprouts and a noodle dish. Tasted good but nothing special. Service was very good. But the restaurant was so loud we skipped dessert to leave the restaurant so we could hear ourselves think.
Friendly staff, great food, reasonably prices.
Great restaurant. We absolutely loved the food. Loved the ambience and sake. Will definitely come back.
We had a reservation for 8 and everyone loved the food. All the fresh flavors you'd expect from a Southeast Asian restaurant and a thoughtful, concise menu. Loved the sticky rice and bang bang to start. The crispy pork appetizer was the best pork belly any of us had ever had. The chef must use magic to make it so crisp. We loved everything except the whole fish - too much effort for an average tasting dish. We tried pretty much everything on the menu, including the specials, and would recommend it all.
Had a one-on-one business meeting at Khe-Yo early during December 2018. Everything was great. Enjoyed a 'bowl', which comes with sticky rice and a few dips, including their renowned bang-bang. If you like spicy, then you will love the bang-bang. Protein was cooked properly and my colleague enjoyed a Bahn Mi, which he found equally satisfying. Service was excellent. Recommend.
Absolutely delicious, love the sticky rice and sauces every order comes with. Great atmosphere!
Food was amazing, even better than the last time we went. Chef/Owner came out to talk with us and made suggestions. Talented!! Food was spectacular! Will be coming back on our next trip into the city.
Chili prawns and Black Sea bass are a must! The tuna special was a treat.
The staff were soo nice and welcoming.
Lovely staff and some of the best food I've had in while. Creative dishes and great service. Loved the ambiance and the huge selection of wine and liquor
Among the spiciest meals I've eaten, yet the delicate flavors of the meats and vegetables were easily found. But those Laotian spices...wow!
Delicious original cuisine although some is unbearably spicy. Get the whole cooked fish. Only complaint is that the menu is light on veggies and a lot of the dishes have similar (delicious) flavors.
As a Laotian native I came with a mindset that Khe-Yo would offer an authentic experience. The customer service was poor and unprofessional. When asked questions about the limited menu. The waiter seemed dumbfounded and grew gradually impatient when asked further. I then, ''asked'' if they were any Lao speaking staff. The same waiter then gave a snark look and said none. Leaving the table saying, '' To give me a few more minutes.'' From the limited menu, the food was pretty bland to top it off that. Would never return.
Been here a few times, it's a great place to bring out of towners (and then we get to go too). Food is absolutely delicious.
Excellent evening all the way around -- great food, great atmosphere, decent prices.
Went for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The menu has plenty of choices and the server was very helpful in choosing what to order. The ribs are the best and the lobster noodles was an excellent recommendation.
The food was amazing and the service they provide is incredible. Very nice place for any occasion. Some food may be too spicy so better be careful.
Khe-Yo is an all time favorite! We have dinner here as often as possible and it is a must when friends are visiting. The flavors are incredible and the options outstanding. You won't be disappointed, and you will want to return. Enjoy!
I love this place, it’s a must when we have someone visiting. Nice, good food, good atmosphere
Lunch entree- Salmon with sticky rice $16. Salmon was delicious but a very small portion. Mug of Sapporo was $8. Long wait for food.
The food was fantastic and the portions were just right. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food was so great! This restaurant is better attended with a group because it's family style. I went with one person and it was great but would have tried more food with more people. We had the lobster dish the bussells sprouts and the duck special. Everything was delicious.
Been a big fan since it opened. Can always count on having really delicious food and drinks here.
First time dining here and will return again. Was told the green papaya salad would be spicy and expected a bit more flavor and spice than it delivered, but it was very good, none-the-less. Sticky rice and bold accompanying sauces were very satisfying!
We used this restaurant for a group dinner. A waiter gave us a good recommendation of order, and it was right. Food was great. We would come again when we come to NYC next time.
Food was not authentic. Mostly very sour - flavours are not blended. And the crunchy rice was supposed to be sour but turned out very sweet. The papaya salad was only sour. The service was fair - it was difficult to catch the attention of servers/host as they kept huddling together at the bar/cashier.
Pleasant place and great offer of food
