I realized me and the guy I’m dating from two different world !
Left him for ever at this restaurant......!
The “management” adds a 3% surcharge because of the recent increase in the minimum wage. They are trying to turn people against the livable wage for waitstaff. We will not be back until they stop this practice.
My wife and I went to Kettner Exchange for our anniversary and we were both blown away! The food was incredible. Very, very impressive! I am telling all of my foodie friends they need to check it out.
Great food, great atmosphere to catch up with a friend on Thursday night!
Ambiance is a ten. But, things fell down with the food presentation, which I found to be odd. I ordered a $40 steak and it came out on a plate nothing else - and I mean nothing. Everybody knows you eat with your eyes, so I wondered how difficult it would have been to throw something on that plate to make it look decent.
So, order sides and ask the waiter to dress the food up. I think the place knows how to do it, they just need some coaching.
Excellent and creative food. Atmosphere cozy but a tad loud.
The server made it clear she wanted everything ordered at once. We were there mid week and it was not busy so the need to get whole order at once seemed unnecessary. We probably would have ordered more if this demand was not made of us. There was a large table by us that was LOUD as can be. The food was good and I would probably return.
Delicious food and cocktails! Service was phenomenal!
Went to Kettner Exchange because we have enjoyed other Eater 38 San Diego restaurants. Service was outstanding; we were going to be placed in a booth downstairs after the hostess promised us a table upstairs - they were able to rectify the situation w/o a fuss, just a small wait. The cocktails were delicious, and enjoyed getting 4 creative small plates to celebrate a special occasion. The lamb/Szechwan noodles and food grad toast were our favorites; the fresh mussels came with too little broth, so the noodles were plain pasta w/o flavor (we let the manager know). We came at 6:30, so the noise level was dull roar.
The big drawback to Kettner Exchange is the parking. There is a very tiny valet lot, and a small Ace lot across the street; the Ace lot was full from weekenders enjoying Little Italy. Allow a half hour extra to find parking.
Will be back!
Everything was superb as usual and my sever was awesome and attentive.😊
Went for a Anniversary trip. The service was excellent and the ambiance was exceptional. Will definitely recommend!
Came for a birthday, had a lovely table upstairs in a cute private area for us and it was 1/2 off rosé all day. Great service & great food! Best Kale salad I’ve ever had!
Went here with on advice of friend and was glad we did. They encourage sharing. There were four of us and we got 8 of the small dishes. Most were excellent and all were above average. It was fun to taste a bit of many different things. The table of 2 next to us got one of the the large dishes and it looked fabulous. Our waitress was friendly, gave good advice regarding the cocktails and food and was always there when we needed her without hovering. Wonderful experience.
An incredible delightful and delicious experience.
The food comes out fast and the drinks are on point. I highly recommend this place.
Kettner Exchange has become my new favorite. The extensive small plate menu is creative and delicious. The combinations make dining a pleasure. Every dish was perfect and great for sharing. Our waiter was very knowledgeable on the ingredients of all the menu items, and also knowledgeable on the wine list. Service was attentive without being invasive. Valet parking is available, which is a plus in Little Italy. Don't miss Kettner Exchange.
Had such a blast here celebrating my birthday with my boyfriend! The service, drinks and food were all incredible and we were super impressed by the innovative menu. Get the tuna wonton pizza, it's insane!!!
Very good mid afternoon meal. Food is great. Selection recommendations were spot on.
Thai sausage was great, as were dumplings
The salmon with soy torched raw small plate was our fave!
I hope you are hungry! Kettner does amazing small plates and has a fantastic beer selection. We had dinner with a group while a small jazz trio was filling the space with sultry tones. Overall an excellent experience, and I will definitely be back.
Excellent Service and wonderful ambiance
The service was beyond amazing. The food was out of this world. Well worth the money. Get your reservation a day or two before going on a weekday and a week in advance for a Friday/Saturday. Awesome restaurant for any occasion!
We went while on a family vacation and I was a wonderful experience. We have two boys 12 and 9 and they absolutely enjoyed the restaurant and meals. We had an extremely full day of fun so our reservation was later than our normal (9 PM) and it was very enjoyable. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in this area!
Very good and special dishes, service adequate, ambiance very nice. But only bit loud and cold under working AC
Went for an early dinner on a Tuesday so it wasn’t really packed. Everything was Amazing , our favorite plate was the octopus, and the duck meatball. Will Def come Back !
Food was very good but very limited menu. Martini was disappointing, glass was too small. Resturant is trying too hard to be a hot spot.
Went on a Monday night. In-love. The ambience is remarkable. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was awesome. Did not get a large plate. Ordered a bunch of small plates between four people and the small plates were large enough to share with everyone. Kale salad, so yum! Tuna tacos, yum! A must go!
The food was delicious and creative- every dish was beautifully presented! We went for a family dinner and the highlights for us was definitely the braised lamb small plate and szechuan noodles small plate!!!
This place is AMAZING! The food is ridiculously delicious. The 32 oz bone-in ribeye is to die for. Recommend splitting it with your date (its $80 and takes an hour to make med rare. Large enough portion for two.) We also got the pork dumpling, simply the best dumplings i have EVER had, however its a very small portion for the price. The spicy shrimp was delicious too. Overall experience was great. They do seem a tick under staffed is the only reason i gave 4 stars. Our waitress was very nice and helpful just super busy.
Food was delicious. We had only small plates & all of them were great.
A very average restaurant. Food was not great. Service is slow - I think because they want you to buy drinks.
Amazing food, ambiance and service! Perfect place for a Sunday brunch. The chicken and biscuits were the overall favorite, but everything was delicious!
The food was delicious. The ambiance was amazing!
This is the second time we’ve been here. The first time was a better experience simply because of where we sat. I recommend upstairs. It’s brighter and better atomosphere. Food was food but couldnt really see it. It’s just too dark on the first floor. Service is always amazing.
Brought my girlfriend here, it was recommended by a friend of mine. Let me just state this is my new favorite place! The food was packed with flavor, and the prices were great! OVERALL AMAZING!!
Was there with my son for my birthday. Ryan was very helpful and attentive. He was also very knowledgeable about the food and its prep. Also helped us decide on a bottle of wine. Was an overall wonderful experience.
Food was delicious. Shared 5 dishes and it was perfect amount. Very inventive cousine and really cool decor.
